Horrified, little Teemo ran, trying to get away
But even the Scout, swift as he is, could not outrun death on its way

Struck by a ball full of power, a mixture of anger and doom,
The yordle struggled to stand, and he regret ever placing that shroom

With his body trembling, and cold rushing through every vein,
He felt the powerful force taking over, and slowly enter his brain

Finally he fell to the floor, releasing his final breath,
As his entire body, filled with cold, was grasped by the fingers of death...

Welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 5.2, where today we'll be looking at the removal of Deathfire Grasp, a new Tristana, balance changes to Rek'Sai, Ahri & Fizz and more!

Before we dive into specifics, allow me to introduce to you the "WTF DID THEY DO TO MY CHAMPION" table. From now on, you'll be able to tell within no time whether your favorite champion was buffed, nerfed, reworked or bugfixed simply by looking at the icon in front of it. Should that leave you unsatisfied, you can also click the name of your champion to be sent directly to the set of patch notes which will show you the exact changes.

Speaking of changes, let's get to those specifics now, shall we?

Although Tristana's new splash art is not part of this patch (as Riot have stated it is unfinished), everything else from the Tristana Champion Update is going live in this patch, meaning that The Megling Gunner will receive a new set of ability icons (displayed below) and a completely reworked E ability, Explosive Charge! With nerfs to her attack speed and attack range but high potential damage on her new ability, this explosive new kit should reward players who make good use of her (windowed) power spikes.

The nerf bat is also in action once again during this patch, with Rek'Sai and Fizz being its most notable victims. Nerfs to the base damage of Queen's Wrath and Unburrow should keep Rek'Sai's early game in check, while heavy nerfs to Urchin Strike combined with a damage shift from Seastone Trident's passive to its active mean Fizz players should have a harder time killing someone without using his ultimate. Luckily for them, however, the damage dealt to a target hit by Chum the Waters will be amplified from now on, which should make it easier for him to still do the job when necessary.

Finally, to compensate for the removal of DFG (which we'll talk about in a moment), Ahri has received a number of buffs which should establish her as an "ultra-mobile kite mage". The damage from Fox-Fire and Charm has been buffed, while casting Orb of Deception now grants her a massive movement speed boost which decays over a short period of time.

Item Changes

[REMOVED] Deathfire Grasp

If you've been paying attention so far, this next announcement might not come as a surprise. In this patch, Deathfire Grasp will be removed from the game. As explained before in the Patch 5.2 Forecast, the tl;dr behind this decision is that DFG tends to make burst patterns of specific champions even more bursty, which ultimately ends up forcing players into the assassin playstyle while also removing counterplay for their enemies. Removing the item will allow Riot to buff these champions in "more interesting ways" while leaving room for different playstyles to be utilized (an example of this being the Ahri buffs in this patch).

Other, smaller (but notable) changes include the change of Giant's Belt's recipe (now builds out of a Ruby Crystal), a reduced gold cost for Aether Wisp, AD + Lifesteal nerfs and an AP buff to Hextech Gunblade as well as a bunch of base stat changes for the Voidspawn creatures created by a Zz'Rot Portal, of which the tl;dr is "more early damage to minions, less damage to structures".

Upcoming Skins

No less than four new skins will find their way to your client at some point during this patch, including a Jinx skin to celebrate the new year and more Warring Kingdoms skins to join the group of Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV , Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao & Warring Kingdoms Tryndamere .

The top two skins displayed below will both cost 1350 RP (though both will be available for 975 RP for a short while upon release), while the Warring Kingdoms skins will both be available for 975 RP after being released.

Share Your Thoughts!

I think I've done enough talking, so it's about time to throw it over to you guys. Before I do, however, I'd like to remind you that - seeing as this is only a summary - I haven't even discussed everything which was included in this patch! For the full overview of all changes, check out the full patch notes.

With that said, what are your thoughts on the removal of Deathfire Grasp? Also, do you think the champions who have received buffs to compensate for it will become stronger or weaker overall? Finally, are you planning to pick up any of the new skins? Let us know in the comments below!

Easily one of the worst patches in terms of balance. How a champion like Cassiopeia gets nerfed while the most broken ****ing champion in the game Azir remains untouched is ****ing incredible. I've played this game for 5 years I have never seen such a ****ing poor excuse for balance from Riot. Embarassing

Personally I think Fizz is way more OP than Azir, but they're both problematic Champions.

OK, so what is suppose to replace DFG on Ahri now?

Moon, don't worry. They even said in the notes that they think he's too powerful. He'll likely recieve nerfs. I actually dont think its his damage that's obscene though. It's how easily he can spam his abilities.

It's written all over the patch, they don't want Ahri to be an assassin. Her entire damage has been toned down and they made her something like the Lucian of ap carries (in the sense that they figured mobility was her key element so they heightened that by giving MS while her Q travels). You should probably go morellow -> rabadon now, and lategame figure what extra stat you need (Rylai to heighten her chase/kite potential, another Rabadon for raw damage?)

Moon, don't worry. They even said in the notes that they think he's too powerful. He'll likely recieve nerfs. I actually dont think its his damage that's obscene though. It's how easily he can spam his abilities.

He needs to have the ability spam because otherwise people move a little bit and he can't deal damage coz cooldowns. He needs to tone down damage, probably base damage and tone down a scaling here and there just a bit. He's the most toxic midlaner in terms of zone control (if you know how to play him) in a very long time.

This patch has some nice intentions and I like the whole assassin tone down thing, but I do think the Zed nerf is ridiculously off mark and I'm not sure how they kept LeBlanc untouched. Might have given the chance for other champions to rise tho

I think i'm gonna build her like this :

Sorcerer's Shoes > Morellonomicon/ Athene's Unholy Grail > Rabadon's Deathcap > Zhonya's Hourglass > Void Staff > Rylai's Crystal Scepter
