What's so special about those picks? Trundle has been played. Fizz has been played. Rek top has been played. Naut top isn't complete unknown. Yes, people haven't used smite on them, but for a reason. None of them have a reliable escape, and Fizz doesn't benefit from Cinderhulk. There's a reason Irelia hasn't be used with Cinderhulk. All of those are either pocket picks, specific picks, or just less common. He won't play half of these champions unless they plan around it. Second, many of those are just plain stupid. There's a reason why people don't run Smite on every top laner.

UOL is actually a team that would make those pocket picks a reality though. Three of their five members have played some sort of unique pocket pick that no other team would play. Visiscasci whipped out that Poppy game, PowerOfEvil recently played ARAM Varus and Kikis has brought out jungle TF, Shaco and Udyr to the LCS.

In a recent reddit AMA with Kikis, he himself stated that the team is very open to any weird pick that the team members may have been working with as long as it is within reason.

Funnily enough though, Trundle has not been picked this season because of how little demand there was for him. However, what is particularly exceptional about this pick is that Visicsacsi could possibly be onto something as conditions similar to Trundle's former glory days are arising; the tank meta. Not only is Subjugate an effective tank softening tool, but the simple nature of the champion makes Enchantment: Cinderhulk effective on him.

Fizz and Rek'Sai have reliable escapes. Nautilus' escape is also very functional in laning phase when it is most necessary (still doesn't change the fact that Nautilus is still a fairly bad top laner).

AD Fizz does benefit from Enchantment: Cinderhulk. In fact, he probably has better synergy than most top laners with the item because he synergises much better with Skirmisher's Sabre than the tank junglers since he can effectively use the damaging portion of Challenging Smite as well. What should be noted in this case is that he bought Enchantment: Devourer as opposed to Enchantment: Cinderhulk. That's definitely questionable, for obvious reasons. Even if he were jungling that game, Enchantment: Devourer still sucks.

All of those are either pocket picks, specific picks, or just less common. He won't play half of these champions unless they plan around it.

Yeah, that's the idea of learning them. That's also when, arguably, Unicorns of Love perform their best. With these random *** picks that other teams have no clue how to play against. H2K Prolly said somewhere that they were banning Varus in all their scrims against UOL because it was so effective against their team due to a lack of knowledge surrounding that pick.

As mentioned, yes, they're cheese picks. But cheese picks just refer to odd picks, not ineffective picks. Sion level 2 before lane is a cheese strat, but it works. Balista bot lane is a cheese strat, but it works. As long as these things are working, then it wouldn't surprise me that it will see play.

Thank you to MissMaw for the signatures!

Trundle has seen play, 2 or 3 times, and people were aware of him the entire time. He had always the same role, hard counter tanks. I don't see how Fizz benefits from Cinderhulk, his build path doesn't really contain any major hp item beyond his 4th buy possibly (Cinderhulk, Triforce, Frozen Heart etc.). Rek top has been subpar at best, and hasn't seen any usage top outside the occasional game.

Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!

So, he has used in the latest time Garen top with smite again, Nocturne top with smite and Volibear top with smite. :D

He mainly uses Garen top to crush Irelia's, Hecarim's and Teemo's, while Volibear top was used against a Shyvana.

@H4x : wow chill dude xD. I'm not saying that, not anything near.
I'm not saying anyone is bad or ******ed. I just wonder why this Shyv is picked over and over and over again (nearly everygame in competitive when not banned) when she almost NEVER do good. It's just MY opinion.

Of course she's strong but I don't see much use in competitive and the fact that you had to SEARCH for one or two games where she does good ... Well you see what I mean ^^

I do REALLY think they have a reason to pick this, but with the amount of CC there is usually in a game, i'm still searching for that reason.

I don't know why you keep saying Shyvana gets countered by CC
I mean firstly, she's a tank.
Secondly she literally catapults into people to engage so you can't cc her.
Thirdly, burnout is like the skill that everyone maxes first and if you're sitting on top of ANYONE with that running you've done your job.
So how does CC counter her?

Basically MOBAFire.

Isn't it her job to soak up all the CC providing a short window to her team to get closer to the back line?

CC counters her because she has no way of dealing with it, and has only one way of actually closing the gap (being fast with burnout doesnt count as a gap closer!) Being slowed is a pain. being stunned is a massive pain. She has nothing to actually keep someone in place for her to wail on them, thus CC and kiting her is her natural enemy.
