Greeting SNOBOY, i really love when people take Arcane Comet it is great cause Malphite has mana problems until he buys some big items and manaflow band will cover that up and you can poke enemy as hell, anyway its great guide i really like it you explained everything keep updating this guide.

honestly arcane comet malphite is dog**** as your q costs ridiculous amounts of mana, grasp is so much better

You are not wrong that Malphite has mana problems early, but I would disagree with grasp being better right now. The amount of damage that Arcane Comet provides is pretty great. Plus, since you build Catalyst of Aeons as your first item, and have Manaflow Band you are able to use your abilities more liberally. However, I would recommend not using Q to poke unless your comet is up, and to also wait until you have two points in it (ideally lvl 3). This way you can maximize damage, and minimize mana expended.

awesome guide i really like it, it gave me plenty of information just by reading the threat level of champions and the items you say to get but i have a small request, i know the champion isn't very powerful but i want to know where Rumble sits on this list of threat level since i play him and know that he can hurt a lot if he is played right. over all this is an amazing guide thanks for making it

love shado~ <3

Hey Shado! Great question. In general I would say Rumble highly counters malphite. With this build your laning is structured around poking with you q. Since Rumble can negate much of that with his shield it puts you at a disadvantage. Rumble also uses his flame spitters to push waves and has it up quite often. This means that if you step up to trade or farm he can burn your face. On top of that, it is really good at keeping Malphites passive shiled from coming back. He also builds items like Liandrys and Rylais which give him health and make him hard to burst, while at the same time giving him the advantage in long exchanges, which is where he naturally thrives. So unfortunately for Malphite, he gets dumped on by Rumble. I will make sure to add that to the guide. Hope that explanation helps, and I am really glad you like the guide!

ok thanks i'm not a Malphite player more a Rumble player but i thought i'd just bring it up so help other players understand that even though Rumble is a rare champion to verse he's not one to be reckon'd with like as if he's nothing so you're welcome other Malphite players reading this :) <3

Thanks for the encouragement! Playing Malphite can be super fun, especially in an off meta sort of way. I am really glad that you like the build.

Malphite vs Kled is something I give a level 6 threat:
His level 2 is not that strong against Malphite, but after he's bought black cleaver, then you should ask for ganks or start roaming or only respond to trades with Q/E ( Assuming the Kled is above average )

I may give Kled even higher, anywhere from 6-8. He wants to build black cleaver which is good against your armor. You have a hard time taking out his steed and when you do you will likely need your ultimate to do enough damage to him to prevent him from remounting. Another thing is that he can have a big impact in teamfights just like Malphite. However, Kled's Ult can help catch people out of position while repositioning his team at the same time. Kled is annoying lol.

True that, added to that:
Having someone who deals % damage is pure **** to play against ( Looking at you Garen, Darius etc. ).
However, Kled isn't that big of deal, but at the same time he is.
Anyway, bother adding him to the threat level 6/7 for some players with explanation?
Cheers mate.

Hi, I'm a relatively new player (400 games) and I'm just starting to learn Malphite. I'm a bit confused about the spells. It seems clear that Flash is a must. However, what's the basic build, Teleport or Ignite? I know that each one is better for different play styles. However, since I'm just getting started, I would like to have a basic build that I can use all the time. Once I've mastered that build I might consider the alternative options.

For the basic build I would go with Teleport. Just make sure to keep your eyes open to be able to use it to impact your team. A good Malphite teleport and ultimate can turn around almost any fight.

That is a good quesstion. Just getting started tp will be better since most people will be using it as well. My advice with tp is use it the first time to get back to lane if you will miss cs but from then on try to use it to make plays. I see a lot of people only use it to get back to lane and in those cases it is a hige waste. Use tp to keep pressure for objectives. If it is up you can split push because if your team starts fighting you can just tp in. Hope this helps a little bit =)

is building rod still good?

SNOBOY (13) | August 30, 2016 10:21am
Yes sir. It is still pretty good, and it is cheap. It is really nice to get that into protobelt and tank. Gives you really good stats at 2 items.
