So, how can someone improve on jungle pathing?

My worst role, hands down, is in the jungle. It isn't because my ganks are bad, or I don't know how to deal with jungle creeps, but its because I just can't seem to figure out where to go and when.

Do I help lanes that are losing, or do I try to push lanes that are winning even further ahead? Should I even try to make a gank when one of my lanes is pushed up, or should I wait for one of their lanes to push?

Any advice that anyone would have regarding jungle pathing in particular,or just jungling in general, I'd be glad to hear.
Thank you Toshabi for the advice!

Should I wait for one of their lanes to push? **** NO

Waiting is wasting time. Wasting time. Any amount of time wasted adds up. 5 seconds waiting for a good moment a few times becomes 1 or 2 minutes of brush time over a game. in a 30 minute game you played 28. how's that sound?

Either way that's not your biggest problem. The big thing I noticed: you didn't make any decisions. You didn't decide to affect a lane outside of a lvl 3 gank. You didn't decide to take objectives. You just passively played the game. Make decisions. When you don't make a decision, someone else is making it. More often than not, the other side is.

Every jungle champion has different jungle strategies.
With that said I'll tell you the basics behind my thought process when I am jungling as Nocturne to give you an example.

I start the buff closest to my bot lane so I can get a stronger leash, not delay the top laner, and prevent most junglers from taking my buff. Lets say it's red buff since that's harder than blue on Nocturne. Here is my standard path: Red Buff > Krugs > Raptors > Rift Scuttle > Look for a gank > Wolves > Blue Buff > Gromp > River Scuttle > Look for a gank > Back > Krugs > Birds > Look for a gank > Wolves > Gromp > Look for a gank (Basically repetitive from there)

Now by "Look for a gank" I don't just mean looking for a lane to gank. If I am bot side jungle I am looking at mid lane and bot lane to see if they are being pushed hard and in which case I'll go in and kill their laner. I also look around the jungle and place wards and control wards to see if my laners are being ganked when they are the ones pushing hard. If the enemy jungler is going to gank I will wait for them to go in first and come out of hiding to save my laners. This is because I am going in with the purpose of taking 3 kills (2 if mid lane) not saving my laners. What I mean by this is I can easily save my laners by pushing the enemy jungler away but then I just wasted my time and fall behind. If I wait for the enemy jungler to go in for a kill I can then counter gank and kill him and his team and as Nocturne I know how to do that because I am Mastery 7 on him so I know his capabilities.

If for some reason I ever know where the enemy jungler is or is going to be, which I normally do because I jungle so much, I will sometimes wait around their next buff for them to come and then kill them. This can be risky though if they either ward a lot or have a team that helps quickly.

Now when I am top jungle side I mostly think about how I can gank mid lane and only go top if my laner is pushed to tower. This is because top lane is the lane of fighters, tanks, and bruisers. Up there I'll have difficulty securing a kill.

Also as Nocturne once I get my ult I'm constantly looking around the map for low health enemies to jump on and kill but that is a champion specific strategy.

Basically to jungle properly you have to constantly be fighting or farming, you can't camp around or anything stupid like that. Always make sure you are making gold. The only time you help your laners is when it will potentially get you a kill or CS. Like if enemy is pushing a tower and my laner isn't there I am more than happy to go just to take the minion wave and then be on my way. If my laner is being chased I'll intercept the chaser for a kill. If my laner is pushing hard I'll use him as bait to take out enemy jungler. It's really pretty simple, it's just a matter of practice. The more jungling you do the more you understand about the game.

Also, ganking bot lane can easily secure you a dragon just like ganking top lane can easily secure you a Rift Herald.

This kinda depends on what jungler you're playing. Some (like Shyvana) have to spend a lot of time farming and counter jungling and should only gank at very opportune moments. Others (like Rek'Sai) can constantly apply pressure to lanes while farming whatever's nearby.

Generally it's better to help even or winning lanes rather than try to turn around a losing lane unless you catch it really early. For most junglers, you should only gank if you know for sure you're going to get something out of it (a kill, a summoner spell, forcing enemy to recall, allowing allied laner to push to tower and recall). Try not to waste your time.

Can't really give any more specific advice without knowing what junglers you're playing.
