TL;DR:
  • Rift Herald changes:

    • Rift Herald no longer grants a buff.

    • Instead drops an item that grants empowered recall for a few minutes before disappearing.

    • Item can be activated (consumed?) to summon Rift Herald to push down the nearest lane and siege towers.

  • Sejuani changes:

    • Permafrost redesigned. Sejuani and her melee allies apply a debuff to enemies. When stacked, Sejuani can freeze (stun) them with Permafrost. If she attacks a frozen enemy she shatters them for bonus damage.

    • Frost armor (passive) grants bonus resistances and slow immunity.

    • W is a two-part swing/slam combo which stacks Frost in any direction. Renamed to Winter's Wrath.

    • Glacial Prison no longer stuns but creates a large slow-field.

  • Maokai changes:

    • Saplings now deal bonus damage from brush.

    • Sap Magic has a cooldown and only charges off spells that hit Maokai directly (and his own spellcasts). More vulnerable against auto-attackers and heals less if he's ignored by mages.

    • New ultimate that summons a lane-wide wall of roots that slowly advances forward, each one rooting the first enemy champion hit.

  • Zac changes:

    • Q now latches onto the first enemy it hits. Zac's next basic attack on another target slams both enemies together.

    • Zac can now turn into a puddle and charge his ultimate for a few seconds. Uncharged ultimate bounces him in place and knocks back enemies (similar to Live ult). If he charges for at least a second, Zac scoops up enemies on top of him and brings them to a target location.

  • No smaller reworks for other tanks.

  • New tank items: Adaptive Helm, Gargoyle Stoneplate. Changes to existing items: Spirit Visage, Sunfire Cape, Dead Man's Plate, Randuin's Omen, Guardian Angel.

  • New VFX for summoner spells, active items and crowd control effects (supposed to make good support plays more obvious). New end-of-game stats about crowd control, warding and damage mitigation.

  • New "support quests." Gold gen items grant bonus effects once the carrier has earned enough gold with them.

    • Ancient Coin grants an elixir that instantly grants a skill point. This means you'll finish maxing abilities at level 17. Takedowns on enemy champions also grant bonus gold and restore mana.

    • The gold generation mechanic for coin has also been changed to drop coins on nearby enemy minion deaths if they weren't killed by you. The coins alternate between granting gold and restoring mana.

    • Relic Shield grants a shield that regenerates out of combat (like Malphite's Granite Shield).

    • Spellthief's Edge grants a burst of movement speed on tribute procs.

I really want to see the support item change in live servers as soon as possible. Supports do need to get boosted by riot. This is a nice turn of the events.

Junglers can grab coin early and get the bonus skill point too. Jungle item start into boots and coin, into the rest of the build, sell coin after skill point.

Looking forward to the support changes! Can't help feel that Relic Shield needs a bit better buff though.

Inb4 that stun on Sejuani has a 12 second cooldown, and that her clear takes a significant hit from the W rework. Also kind of worried that getting the stun off with ranged laners will be hard.

The support items look really good to me though. I'm not sure about Relic Shield (I'm with Terroronyou here) and Spellthief's Edge (I think it would be way more useful if the attack slowed instead of giving the support an MS boost), but at least this stops the ridiculous laning phase of an Ancient Coin support.

I suppose the passive will only proc if someone other than yourself does the killing, so that won't really work for junglers. Hopefully.

I don't like the support changes. Seems like a forced change that wasn't planned out too well. The design seems lacklustre, uninspired and not a lot of fun. I'm happy if the patch eventually proves different, but this doesn't really change anything about how support plays or how attractive it is, honestly. If you were a support main you like the change - as I do, I'm actually excited about that mountain thingy on Nautilus Support - and people who were not intrigued by support will not start supporting just because they suddenly get a quest. I'm not a fan, to be honest.

I also have a hard time imagining Maokai's new ultimate.

I completely don't understand the reasoning for the Zac changes. I think he was in a good spot kit-wise and I think there are other tanks more in need of an overhaul (Garen? Malphite?)

I am glad they made more stats for support players to appreciate them more.
