Hey guys,
Sorry for the long absence. I am doing my PhD now and have even less time to come over and check it out here. But feel free to leave comments, I will reply you as soon as I can.
Meanwhile, I updated the build a little bit so that it can be usable :)

On early game could I get challenging smite except for chilling smite?
1
Ehsan (2) | September 29, 2017 10:39am
I suggest not to do that cause that is the only CC you have for ganking.

Should add Teemo to threats. Eve in full build a fed Teemo's blind can really mess you up

Ehsan (2) | September 29, 2017 10:36am
Against Teemo, after getting blind, use alpha strike and immediately meditate until blind is over and then you can finish him easily. I don't see him as a threat because his mushrooms cannot slow you down.

Hello there Ehsan,

I was curious why you take Death's Dance over Bloodthirster. It's my understanding that usually you take Bloodthirster on auto attack focus champions and Death's Dance on ability focused champions. And both offer you good damage and a defensive passive. Sometimes I take both of the items, but normally I choose Bloodthirster over Death's Dance if I can only have one. As for the CDR on Death's Dance I don't see it as important because killing or getting assists reduces the cool downs on your abilities. And auto attacking reduces the cool down on Alpha Strike.

Sincerely, Lasoor

Hey Lasoor,

The main reason I choose DD over Bloodthirster is that I focus on team fights rather than 1v1. In a team fight, you need to use your alpha strike as your main source of damage rather than your basic attack. This is mainly because you are too squishy with this build and don't wanna get caught out there. But what is that to do with DD and Bloodthirster?!
1. When you wanna use more alpha strikes, you need more CDR and DD gives 10% more which is 1.4 second difference in its absence (9.8s vs 8.4s). It may be very minor buff but in reality you would crave for that 1.4 second :D
2. Bloodthirster is useless during alpha strike while DD can provide a decent amount of healing (185 heal, see 2 comments below) which is respectful compare to 2100 health bar of Yi. Not to mention that if you get a kill you can land another one quickly and benefit from healing.
3. Last but not least, I don't see Bloodthirster shield effective at all, especially when it comes to comparison with DD's passive. DD's passive allows you not to die instantly from mages’ damage and make up the bleeding by some auto attack or alpha strike. And this can happen any time unlike the shield of Bloodthirster which only works when you are at full health.

Btw, nice build man, very comprehensive top build.

I don't know much about items now since havent played in like 2 months, but at time of post i believe DD was at 5% bleed. IMO being able to build that overheal shield before a fight is more useful than simply taking 5% less instant dmg. I believe it is 30% bleed now which makes it more arguable for sure. I'd say youre right for yi jungle, but in top lane definitely take bloodthirster over DD. However it also comes down to play style. I split push and farm a lot and only team fight when i spot an opening. Which means being a strong duelist is my priority since only tine i go into a team fight is when i can lock down one or two enemies at a time instead of diving into all of them.

Also i believe DD ability heal is only 33% of the 15% heal since im pretty sure alpha strike counts as multi target ability. If im right that makes DD ability heal basically nonexistent and its auto attack healing is less than BT. Yi does about the damage of alpha strike per auto attack and can auto attack many times in between alphas. Putting your healing in Alpha Strike could be more harm than good. Only plus side I see to DD over BT is the CDR but you'd be better off buying an early Spirit Visage.

Hey Ehsan,

Very detailed guide. I see that you have spent a lot of time explaining almost everything. But the only thing that lacks is the BBcode that can make your guide super eye catching. Indeed you have used some BBcode but not that much.
Overall your guide is very decent

Hey man,
You are pretty damn right about it and I would love t have more BBcode in my guide. However, I am just to busy to do that cause I recently started my PhD and I barely can even update the build. I will try to look forward it anyway. Thanks for your comment:)

Essence reaver has a huge cost thus I suggest putting last whisper upgrades as it will allow you to shred through tanks, thornmail and also allow you to reduce healing/increase damage output with dominicks regard. Also, bloodthirster is overall much better than death’s dance as Yi only has one ability that procs it, and more so it’s aoe thus won’t heal much, if you crit 1kx4 =4000 damage, 15% = 600 but then that’s only 25% effective thus 25 of 600 = 150 healing assuming you’re able to hit 4 targets and deal maximum damage which is unlikely. The passive is decent however bloodthirster over heal + 5% more heal imo is more valuable.

Qss is also very valuable vs high cc comps

Hey Autoswitched,
Regarding Essence Reaver, I must say that it is necessary for a smooth early game. If you would be able to regenerate your mana pool without going back then you have a higher chance of ganking as well as more farming opportunities.
As for death’s dance, first we need to calculate the damage coming from alpha strike:
165 + 100% * 485 (AD) + 0.6 * 485 (AD) = 941 and then multiply by 4 = 3764
Then DD heals 15% and it is 33% effective for AOE so we have 0.15*0.33*3764 = 186
This may sounds not much but you have to consider two facts here:
1. You do multiple alpha strikes in team fights which can increase this healing to double, triple or even four times more.
2. What would you get from bloodthirster? An additional 5% more healing, 1200(crit)*0.05 = 60, which is only one third of the healing coming from alpha strike. Furthermore, the shield works only when you are at full health bar (not to mention that it is more expensive).
Finally, you need to pay attention that this build is all about synergy. With DD, you get 10% CDR which helps you to land more alpha strikes, meaning more healing, more AOE damage and untargetable period. Thus, I would prefer DD over bloodthirster in the case of master yi.

Replace death's dance for dead man's plate and this build is OP!

Lets say I didn't have the proper runes for this build, would it still be viable?

Ehsan (2) | September 29, 2017 8:35am
Hey there,
As long as you have the runes for speed it should be ok, other than that you might feel the need for a pair of shoes which will occupy one of your item's slot.

What do you think about Frozen Mallet? It slows enemy champions by 30-40%, which is great for ganking or chasing down opponents.

If you wanna have a more easy and stable game you can get it. But I suggest once you get pro with yi, just go with current set.

This guide and build is amazing. I've been putting in a lot of practice on Yi. Learning to be more patient and wait for the right time for Yi to show up, and sure enough it got me my first penta on Yi here: http://plays.tv/video/585b6fa0e7e73b5e1d/my-hardwork-practice-on-yi-is-starting-finally-pay-off-had-start-learning-be-more-patient-wait-for-right

This Build can Solo Baren. Tried it with bots. Farmed fast, got to full build, replaced jg item for RH and soloed Baren so easily. And it does nothing to you because every 7 seconds you can Q again and Q and Q and Q, plus the life steal. I soloed it twice to make sure xD

soloing baron with yi is really easy. You can solo baron at about 25 minutes using bloodrazor, BOTRK, Rageblade, and part of another item, usually vampiric scepter or a giants belt as well as your ult and two smites. It is very close, however. The strat is to stack your rageblade on the rift scuttler and then ult+e the baron. Use your q to dodge the baron attacks ONLY after your e runs out. Once you lose about a third of your health, smite once and use your meditate when your ult and e run out and you're low.

That is true, solo Baren is a piece of cake with this full build.
