Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 7.14!

This is a pretty intensive patch with a lot of sweeping changes to various champion abilities (you might even call a few of them "minor reworks") as well as updates to several item trees. In addition, this patch heralds the arrival of Kayn, the Shadow Reaper. Be sure to check out more details below!

Dark Star: Singularity runs from 7/14/17 12:00 PT to 7/18/17 04:00 PT and 7/21/17 11:00 PT to 7/25/17 04:00 PT. Play as Dark Star Thresh in a 3v3 match on the Cosmic Ruins, which features a Dark Star Thresh announcer and chilling music.

Several champions received significant ability changes this patch. While not quite in the scope of a full rework, Cho'Gath, Singed, Diana should play quite differently in 7.14. Cho received an update to Vorpal Spikes, making it an autoattack buff for 3 hits that slows enemies and deals %hp damage, though it now has a cooldown. Diana's Moonsilver Blade now grants attack speed after her spellcasts for 3 attacks and restores mana on the third hit. The attack speed value scales with Moonfall's rank.

Singed received even more extensive changes, with a new passive named Noxious Slipstream that grants him a burst of movement speed when he passes near champions. Mega Adhesive now has a grounding effect, preventing enemies from using movement abilities while inside the AoE.

The last two champions we'll talk about are Garen and Taric. Garen received sizable buffs to Perseverance, especially at level 11. He also now gains even more regeneration when he's low on health. Courage also has a new effect where it grants 60% damage reduction and tenacity for the first 0.75 seconds after casting. Taric received a buff to Dazzle's damage alongside a small rework for Starlight's Touch. Rather than having 3 charges at all ranks, Taric can now gain up to 5 charges based on rank, though the ability has a 3 second cooldown now. In addition, Bravado-empowered attacks will instantly grant a charge, giving him better access to in-combat healing if he's able to proc his passive.


Item Changes

Recipe: Cloth Armor + Chain Vest + 1250 gold (total cost 2350g) Bramble Vest + Ruby Crystal + Warden's Mail + 400 gold (total cost 2900g)
Armor: 100 ⇒ 75
Added: 250 health
Thorns passive updated, including Grievous Wounds effect.
Added Cold Steel passive.
Recipe: Cloth Armor + Cloth Armor + 300 gold (total cost 900g)
Stats: 35 armor
UNIQUE Passive: Thorns: Upon being hit by a basic attack, reflects 20 magic damage, inflicting Grievous Wounds on the attacker for 1 second.
Quest reward: Emperor's Favor and Elixir of Skill ⇒ nearby allies gain 8% movement speed when moving towards you.
Recipe: Ruby Crystal + Ruby Crystal + Warden’s Mail + 1100 gold Giant's Belt + Warden's Mail + 900 gold (2900g total cost unchanged)
Health: 350 ⇒ 400
No longer grants 20 out of combat movement speed.
New UNIQUE Passive: Headhunter: After killing an enemy, your next damaging spell will deal 40 bonus physical damage to all enemies it hits (30 second cooldown).
Same changes apply to Poacher's Dirk.
Lethality now calculates armor penetration based on the user's level rather than the target's level (applies to all lethality items, runes and masteries).
Recipe: Serrated Dirk + B. F. Sword + 850 gold (total cost 3250g) Serrated Dirk + Caulfield's Warhammer + 700 gold (total cost 2900g)
Lethality: 15 ⇒ 18
Attack Damage: 65 ⇒ 55
Added: Now grants +10% cooldown reduction.
Removed: No longer grants 20 out of combat movement speed.
Nightstalker damage changed to physical damage scaling with level from true damage scaling with lethality. The proc also slows the target by 99% for 0.25 seconds.
Lethality: 15 ⇒ 18
Out of Combat Movement Speed: 20 ⇒ 40
Attack Damage: 60 ⇒ 55
Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Pickaxe + Null-Magic Mantle + 675 gold Serrated Dirk + Pickaxe + Ruby Crystal + 725 gold (3100 gold total cost unchanged)
Lethality: 15 ⇒ 18
Added: Now grants +250 health.
Removed: No longer grants 35 magic resist.
Removed: No longer grants 20 out of combat movement speed.


Other Changes

  • Medium Krugs can now be Smited.

  • Pillar of Ice and Crystallize no longer grant vision around the cast area.

  • Adjusted 16 abilities to allow for ability queuing. Click here for the full list and more details.

  • All Ranked Flex parties can now include players within one Tier, including Diamond, Master, and Challenger parties.

  • The 2016 SKT T1 skins have each received custom audio effects! In addition, water effects have been added to SKT T1 Nami 's loading screen art.

  • Rek'Sai now properly marks targets for Void Rush even when the damage is completely blocked by a shield.

Nice to see some changes to Diana, especially in the mana cost department, though I'm curious as to why they moved the attack speed passive to Moonfall which has typically been the ability that you max last. I guess there it is gated unless you do opt to max it sooner.

Not sure I'm happy about their being more grievous wounds effects in the game, though I suppose having it accessible to tanks is nice for the tanks. But fuzzy on why they added the Cold Steel passive to Thornmail. You buy thornmail on someone like Dr. Mundo because you want your target to focus you and kill themselves in the process. Slowing their attack speed will mean that they kill themselves more slowly.

Kind of sad that Kayn has the ability to enter terrain. I've long had this secret hope that they would add that feature to Nocturne's Q as that would make him a real nightmare.

Came back from vacation and what do I see? Garen buffs? Time to climb to diamond before they add a minigame to his kit :^)
