Anyone know where I can get a cheap laptop? Preferably $400-$500. The one I currently have (Compaq Presario CQ62), the screen is messed up. Every so often, every minute or so, the screen will freeze, and all around the edges will turn white and slowly get brighter and cover more area, in 5 seconds the screen is fully white and almost blinding. I just tap the back of the screen or move it a little bit and it goes back to normal.

It's not a Gaming Laptop, but it runs games fine. Anyone have any ideas of good Gaming Laptop brands? Or just a regular laptop.

Thanks

Thank you WrathWaffleWarrior, spooon, L1LShadow, JEFFY40HANDS, jhoijhoi and palzm for the sigs :3

You won't get gaming laptop for that price but you may find a decent laptop that could run Lol in normal settings and other games on lower settings. Do you prefer any site to buy from?

Laptops are kind of outdated. Tablets are taking over that market completely.
Stationary computers are for gaming.

The words "gaming" and "laptop" should never be together.

Get a PC instead. Far, far better for gaming.

Get off your high horse Xenasis.

I tend to enjoy playing whit friends more than by myself, and i also move around a lot since my family is all over the place.

And there is no better felling than looking at the sorry masses of people that have to entertain themselves whit books or whatnot while riding the train. I can simply boot up a game and play like i was at home. Suddenly, a 4 hour drive don't seem so bad.

In 2-3 years or so, when i get my own place, the i might get a pc.

And yes, PC is far superior, but not mobile :3
Thanks to me and Elleeeeeka (love that name) for my sigs.

I'm not on one, this is common knowledge.

If you want a laptop geared for gaming it will cost roughly two times as much to get the same specs as you'd get on a normal PC, weigh a LOT, etc. Sure, you have a laptop and move about a lot, but it isn't a "gaming laptop", it's not DESIGNED for gaming, it's just a laptop you use for gaming.

Also, since when was reading books for the "sorry masses"? I love reading books at home, too.

Did i ever say that any of that was NOT true?

I just bought a laptop for 6000 Danish Kr. (5 Kr = 1 dollar, you do the math)

This laptop was designed for gaming in mind, what do a pc here in Denmark cost designed on gaming? 5000kr.

Sure, the specs on the PC are better and the price is smaller, but you loose out on the mobility. Which means a lot for a people like me, who are rarely the same place 2 days in a row.

And sorry for the comment on books, that was a little harsh. I enjoy books a lot myself :3

Unless you're searching for used Laptops, the only brand I believe you'll be able to find is Compaq. You *might* find an HP for a little over your preferred price, but most are around 600 US Dollars.

Special thanks to Keondre for the sig!

Due to inactivity, I am no longer reviewing guides. Sorry guys :(

If you're mobile, a laptop is definitely an option, but there's no point splashing out on something that you can get for less than half of the price elsewhere if you're not moving about constantly.

I'd imagine that 6000Kr laptop doesn't exactly have the best graphics cards or processor, though. I doubt it's able to run the latest games maxed out, or whatever. Sure, it's passable, but for a true 'gaming' machine, you want something that lasts into the future. I'm sure it's fine for a laptop, but depending on what this guy wants, a laptop might not suffice. Oh, and a word to the wise, don't really ever buy branded PC/laptops, build it yourself or get a company (such as pcspecialist.co.uk) to do it for you. Far, far, far cheaper.

I know you can get a relatively decent gaming rig for about £300 if you build it yourself, which will run most things maxed out easily. Most branded machines will be a waste, though. Don't look at them, really.

So running battlefield 3 on high settings whit 55-60 frames per second is only "passable"

I can even find a video.
Link!
The only reason there is some frame-rate drop was because he filmed whit fraps.

Edit: The brand i use is MSI, i had a few laptops over the years, they all had some problems, but i never have any trouble whit MSI + the specs on this kitty is quite high compared to the price.
