So running 9/0/21 masteries and gp10 quints and seals seems to be a really strong method recently for ap mids that lack earlygame , giving them a lead mid game. You can simply just buy a kages, philo stone and heart of god and expect to get your core ap item 10 minutes earlier then their ap carry.

Thoughts?
Getting like 1 or 2 items ahead of the other ap carry seems pretty strong.
Thanks Jhoi,Xenasis,JEFFY40HANDS for the Sigs ! :D

I dislike playing a high damage champion without Executioner .

Also, weakening your early game like that can lose you the lane. If you get seriously beat by their AP mid, no amount of gp10 is going to make it worth it.

It could be worth it on mids that seriously lack early game such as Kassadin or mid Akali since they can get zoned easily, but then again I think it's better to have those AP quints ('specially on akali for her passives) and offensive masteries more than ever in that case. And since both of those guys are really powerful when they hit six already, it wouldn't be much use then either.

So really I don't think it would be as good as the standard way of doing things. Unless you're building a Deathfire Grasp then you can buy an early kage's, but that's common sense.

Thank you Miss Maw, CasterMaster and Arcana3 for the sweet sigs. I'd definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a nice sig.

yeah the only gp10 item i'd see mids get would be kage's lucky pick with the RARE exception of a philo stone...
also, in the grand scheme of things, very few ap mids can really use deathfire grasp and morello's evil tome (only veigar, leblac, and lux come to mind)
most other ap carries don't have room for that item
If I helped you out, be sure to throw me a +Rep!

Actually a great deal of AP mids have started using the new DFG.

I still firmly believe that Lux is a terrible candidate for the item. One of the worst in the game if you ask me (excluding non-mages and Ryze).
Thanks to Fatelblade for the sig!

GP10 masteries and runes are terrible on anything other than supports. Don't bother with that.

I dunno, I'd consider it on Kassadin or Talon. I find it quite difficult to get CS with them when I'm against a ranged mid.
I mean, What runes would you miss out on? ~15AP on your Quints and some Mana Regen on your Seals? It's not that big a deal imo. And it's essentially a GP/10 for free, that works from the beginning of the game.
I think of it as free wards, which tbh I find better than some paltry mana regen and ~5-10 extra damage on a spell.
