1 - When your enemy laner was pushed out of lane and you already pushed the wave to the tower, you can roam mid. When you went to base and wanna help your team fight for Dragon (risky if it goes wrong, tho). When your jungler is being ganked in his own jungle, or when your ward warned you that you can go surprise the enemy jungler. None of this is truly absolute, but you gotta consider when your team needs you.
It's also good to do this when you're snowballing.
2 - How mobile is your champ? Can you get mid in time to avoid the gank, countergank? Are you fast enough to get to dragon? If none of this is true, push like a beast (not just last hit, crush the minion wave) and go for the tower. Hit it hard. If your mid teammate died but you knew top was ganking, then there was at least a ward, which means he decided he could ignore the gank, so it's his own fault.
3 - If you're sacrificing a tower for a dragon and one or two kills for your team, it was a well-spent tower. If the sacrifice wasn't worth it, well, not always do things go well.

Well if the enemy laner isn't there and I know I won't get ganked, I push hard and try to destroy the turret. After a few seconds the enemy laner or jungler should be coming back top so I leave and go roam even if the turret isn't destroyed. I don't go through the river or else the enemy might spot me themselves or with wards.
I help whatever lane needs it. I don't stay too long for a gank though or else my tower will be in danger of getting destroyed. I will also lose gold income for standing in the bush for so long. Get a sense of how hard/fast the enemy top laner can push and how long it takes for you to get back to your lane.
If your enemy laner went to gank mid and you know that the enemy mid champ or top champ becomes a real nightmare if fed, then go and stop him! If their champs are too strong for you and your mid ask your jungler to come help.
Try to predict where and when teamfights may occur. Look at the map and look at the areas where your team has warded not just your own. Notice if any enemy champs are moving toward a certain direction and disappearing into the FoW. Keep track of dragon and baron spawn times. If enemies are heading toward a place tell your team. For example if they are headed for dragon tell your team and you should leave your lane and go to dragon. Try to get there even if your enemy counterpart is still at top. Don't make it obvious that you are leaving. Try to harass and push so that the enemy top will back away while you enter the FoW and head towards dragon. You will give your team the upperhand in the fight. Winning a teamfight is more important than a tower. Get your ADC and APC fed! Or if you know they cant't survive each teamfight(because they are getting focused and burst down too fast) get yourself fed and carry your whole team(on a champ that can of course like a fed Hecarim).
If the enemies are making it super obvious that they are headed for baron or dragon(i.e. moving there in front of your faces), make sure it's not a trap or else they will have the element of surprise and possibly secure an ace.

I guess this has something to do with my playstyle not fitting this role.
So I really need some help here.
When exactly should I leave my lane?
When my counterpart is away ganking mid or doing dragon and I'm still way up there.
Should I leave or just get free farm.
Sometimes I farm and then all my mates died and I feel doing something wrong.
If I leave lane and help my team.
My tower falls like a pile of cards.
When both towers have fallen, it's probably not laning anymore so I start roaming around.
Though I still find my opponent on top getting farm while I'm just scouting the map with no income.
Seriously I'm really confused about this.
