As happened with the ps3-360 generation, i don't see a significant change. Master system to megadrive had a huge change from almost monochromatic games to a full colored and detailed 2d desings, Megadrive to psx had the change from 2d to 3d, psx to ps2 had the introduction of in game cinematics and face expresions. Ps2 to ps3 was simply an upgrade in game textures and the like, and the same is with this change, ps4 and 720 will have some better graphics, but no big change, and thats all.
I like some of the features the console is going to have, but i dislike a lot that you will need to be concected to internet to play any game, thats just a terrible mistake from sony.

Between having to be connected to internet or what micrsoft plan for the new xbox, paying for a code that let you install the game which only work once, i'll go for the PS4.

PS4 will be roughly comparable in gaming power to a PC with:
A weak Intel i5 CPU(weaker than i5 3570) or AMD A10-5700. (the CPU is the part we know the least about)

significant changes will only come when technology changes, ie, when you get holographic imaging, hugely efficient batteries and so on. at this stage i'd consider buying one of these new consoles if they had somewhat the same flexibility a personal computer has.

nintendo has a legitimate strategy of keeping the hardware accessible and more in tone with group activities. that's where Wii won against X360 and PS3. i really don't think we must have higher capacity hardware to play better games and there is also a limit of graphic performance where the human brain can tell the difference. also, many still can't get enough of group games like mario party or even zelda games. nintendo has a trumph card, and that is low prices for a potentially good amount of fun, whether you win or lose.
Problem is that Nintendo has only a small group of flagships in their game repertoire.
And they released the WiiU only because they were again too fixiated on the gimmicks instead of some raw potential (HD, possibility to play games which require some decent rig etc.)
I for example are not that much of a fan to buy ANOTHER console in the same gen only to get the same stuff I already should have gotten with the first buy...
But with the things mentioned about PS4 and 720, as paradox as it sounds I hope that Nintendo comes up with another console they can release for the next gen.

so far, the console itself hasn't been shown, but a list of specs include
as for the controller, it is similar to the dualshock 3, except for 2 major differences. a touchpad in the center of the controller, and a fancy new button that seems rather.. INNOVATION!
if you couldn't tell that word was supposed to illicit a groan. you'll be able to upload video from your game instantly on social networking ****. you'll also be able to have your friends help you live by giving them control of the game through the web. friends will also be able to watch your game live.
you can play ps3 games, via streaming unfortunately.

the rumor of no used games is just that, a rumor. will have used games.
anywho, lets get to whats actually important. the GAMES.
lets get the weird **** out of the way, diablo 3. yes, diablo 3. because its already been known that it was developed with consoles kind of on the mind. will allow you to play coop on one screen with up to 4 players.
square enix was there with tech demos, confirmed more final fantasy but no other news on that. some more info on watch_dogs by ubisoft, and activision was there to say that bungies new series destiny will be coming to ps3/4.
capcom showed off a new engine built for the ps4, what was shown hints at being a completely original game thats not dark souls.
the guy who made braid is gonna make a ps4 exclusive.
but second to last, most impressive reveal would go to guerrilla games, with killzone: shadow fall
and last but not least, the (so far) only big name, first party game revealed for the ps4. inFAMOUS second son
so, what do we think? no word on price yet, and no specific release date other than before holiday 2013.
