I've been thinking of writing a guide for Orianna, mostly because I personally do not like the currently highest scored guide for her (No offense to the guide maker). I would write more about it, but that's not why I'm here. I've gotten rather tired of the standard Athene's Unholy Grail rush on her, so I've branched out and tried something else. Of course, this is only an experimental build and this isn't the build I'll be focusing more on in the guide (Unless this build gets more attention and gets developed a lot).

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

(I apologize OTG if I copied your style/idea here D:)

Stats

Standard stuff, barring the Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration. I don't own it currently on the NA servers, but I have tried it out on PBE, and the concept around getting it is something that I feel that would work for a champion like Orianna. Grabbing hybrid penetration tends to really only have an effect early on, and this is only true if you auto-attack in between standard ball harass. It also synergizes with her passive, since you will now deal much more damage due to the extra pen power.

items

This is the point where I think it gets controversial. Tear of the Goddess is rushed, and is usually grabbed along with Catalyst the Protector. Orianna's speed in maxing out Tear would heavily rely on how liberal you are with using Command: Attack in lane. Of course however, Seraph's Embrace can be delayed until after Rabadon's Deathcap and/or Athene's Unholy Grail.

IMO, the build itself helps Orianna become more of a threat and have better presence in the mid-late game than with the Athene's Unholy Grail rush, which is the point which I feel that she really shines in due to her utility and damage. It also helps that she gets beefier (Via Rod of Ages' passive and Seraph's Embrace's active) and has much better snowballing potential.

Skill sequence and masteries

Ended up putting the 3 points from Vampirism to Awareness . I'm still debating on which of the two I should put the 3 points into, but right now I'm sticking with Awareness , mostly because I hardly notice a difference from the 3%.

Once again, any and all feedback is much appreciated.
Many thanks to Xiao, jhoijhoi, TinyStar, Tsuki, and WOMBO for the sigs!

I just can't see tear ever being core on ori with chalice being so good on her :/. Personally I feel like RoA and chalice are plenty of mana, seraph's active is always nice but not really needed on ori, having all 3 is unnecessary. I see where you are coming from by wanting to use a different build, but theres a reason chalice is standard on ori.

Usually don't, but I feel RoA > Tear.

Tear is good when you have the ability to stack it. It's very situational though.

However you can't pair that with another early game lane item (Catalyst)

It never works and only leaves you with little damage mid game, which puts you behind on the rest of your build.

I really feel like ori is one of these casters that needs cdr, also the amount of ori players i see who don't have a deathcap at 30 mins is tooo damn high :(

And yes, roa OR seraph OR athene OR morrelo, max 2 of them. not 3 freaking items from mana, you should be getting blue anyways....

Id say chalice for harder matchups otherwise morrelonomicon, (yes i fanboy morrelo cus its good)
I don't rlly like stacking mana (as mana items got no cdr), i would go athene or morrelo + blue for cdr cap then get you're rabadons into void, zhonya, then idk anymore.

Just my view on this.
Check out my singed guide :)

I rush Athene's? Someone should have told me so I could have told people to maybe buy some magic pen in the form of a Haunting Guise or Sorcerer's Shoes before completing Athene's Unholy Grail so that the .7 AP ratio on her w really stings.... Oh wait, nvm.

If you'd like the stats as to why RoA isn't great on Ori just go the items section of my guide and read up under WoTA as it has all of the math for the two items there. As for Tear of the Goddess, I tried it, and I liked it, but it requires a completely different game play and in the end I just didn't like how rarely I would use the active on it.

However I would never tell someone to not make a guide. If you want to make one then go for it :) The reasoning behind me making my guide originally was the same reason that you have stated wanting to make yours. Feel free and if you run into any issues feel free to ask since when I first started I was completely new to BBcoding and I learned everything I know from reading through countless guides and figuring a few things out on my own. *I was the original guy on here that figured out how to change the names of spoilers :)*

Not seeing issue with RoA. If you're playing her or any other mana-using AP mid versus a team with like idk, Zed + Xin Zhao + 10000 bruisers, having the extra HP from RoA helps you not get exploded instantly. It's not just for mana.
hi embracing. yes i play ff14 now.
