Thanks for this guide, it really helped! I just played a game with this champ and my teammates were "Leona God" haha.

Hi, first i'd like to thank you for this guide, it really helped me a lot!

Now i have a few concerns, no big deal, about the runes. In your guide it sais 9Armor seals give 12.6 armor, which i don't get since it's 1 armor /runes (i may have missed something).
Then, i also found out something, which may have been said in previous comments, i'm not sure, but, there's a better combination of runes imo.

Instead of 3 health quints and 9 armor seals, which gives you 9 armor and 78 health, i've taken 1 armor seal and 8 health seals + 2 armor quints and 1 health quints. This gives 90 health and 9.6 armor. I know it's not that much, but thought it could help!

Anyway, for the rest of it, this is a great guide, easy to read and to understand for a non-native english speaker like me, and also quite easy to follow since it's so well explained. So thanks again!

You need to update the guide for S4. Even though it says so in the log, you mention Shurelya's Reverie at least 3 times, and Sighstone doesn't give CDR or regen anymore.

With the upcoming nerf of Perseverance, how does this change Leona's build? I think pretty much every Leona is using Perseverance at the moment. There are three possibilities:

1) Drop Perservance from the build can go Straight Utility tree, with a build like 21 Utility and ( defense for Endurance; Use Doran's Shield or Targon's brace as your starting buy; use Quints of Health to make you tankier.

2) Keep Perseverance and go deeper into the Defense tree and drop those points from the utility tree, using Doran's Shield and possibility gold/10 sec Quints or possibility Ancient Coin and more Health quints; I think Ancient coin is the best gold income item BUT you are forced to use Health quints, which are absolutely useless late game;

or 3) Remain at 16/14 (Perseverance/Support) and change your starting buy to Doran's to offset the halving of Perseverance nerf to maintain tankiness.

Which of the three options (or one I haven't thought of?) do you guys view as the path to proceed?

Hello Nusaik,

Just wanted to say how cool your guide is :)

Altough I've been playing LoL for years, I've just recently got more serious about it, and as a "newbie" I must say your guide is exceptionally well written and easy to understand.

I think the best part is grading synergists and counters bot whith your explanations WHY they are graded that way, and it is probably the most usefull part for fresh Leona players.

I think understanding Leona is very simple actualy, the hard part is knowing your allies' and your enemies' advantages and disadvantages in every given moment.

I used the build I thought would suit Leona as a sup, and i won 6/7 ranked games (7th was heavilly trolled :)).
I wanted to see if i could make myself even better and your guide came up. I'm proud to say they are very simmilar :)

I actually signed up right now for mobafire just so I can say thank you and ask one question:

Can you please give a thorough advice, based on your experience, how to make the best use of the Deadly Phalanx active on the Face of the Mountain?
Timing, ADC/AP priority, using on self etc...

All the other q i had were pretty much answered in the 18 pages of comments i read. :)

Keep up the good work, it is really very helpful.

This is a great build. I love how tanky it is, lol. When the whole team focuses on me, they can hardly get me down, allowing my teammates to drown them in damage. Voting this. ^-^

Targon's Brace start is IMO still the best for Leona (health, health regen, heal passive for ADC).

By the way, why do people activate W before E? It reveals obviously their intentions, but also possibly(!) wastes some of the extra tankiness duration.

Eclipse maxed first. Check. Runes. Check (I prefer magic pen marks, but you have them included). Masteries I bit disagree on, 0/21/9 works the best for me due to added durability and Leona really doesn't need all the things in support tree, because she's already very dangerous early, relies on all-in, and once she gets rolling, she will get rich.

I'd say Relic Shield and its upgrades are strongest in lane, due to the stats the items give, but talisman of ascension is better late-game. The movement speed boost gives you and your team so much initiation power. What I see some people do is buy Relic Shield and maybe targon's brace in lane for the stats and gold income, and then later sell it and get talisman of ascension. This might be a good option.

Activating W first helps you get the damage off on your opponent more easily, since it will explode faster, before the enemy can walk away from you. I don't feel like the duration is too short anyway, unless you want to engage a longer fight. When initiating a full teamfight, you know you're going to be fighting for a while so you should activate W after E. Activating it right before jumping in doesn't give the enemy much more time to react, since it has no cast time.

I think there are many possibilities in terms of masteries. Currently I take 0-17-13 masteries, getting some important points in both trees (I might edit the guide with these masteries), but as I say in my guide, any combination of defense and utility (and even offense) is probably fine.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

If your carry is duo then you can both start with relics. Then your carry sells theirs off late game and you finish yours. It's the best ever! For solo though I usually tend to go with coin/talisman because being an ambush style support I tend to just wait in the brush. Exposing myself to get a minion or 4 is a bit risky sometimes unless you are dominating lane. Even tried frostfang and it wasn't too bad just not as strong as the others for late game situations. Your guide is still about the best out there though.

Going double Relic Shield is good if you're planning on farming and playing safe. It will make your ADC weaker in the early laning phase in terms of damage. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't. I will add talisman of ascension to the guide soon, and maybe Frost Queen's Claim too as a very situational item.
