An i5 4690K is a good choice in CPU if you want a CPU that lasts a bit longer. You could upgrade just the GPU a few years down the line to keep that system relevant for many years forward.
If you don't go for that model you might as well just get an i3 or an AMD CPU. Check benchmarks and compare prices.

Regarding motherboards you'll probably want a Z97 board if you're going with the i5. Asus makes really reliable and functional motherboards, I advise you to look at them.

I'd say that Nvidia is ahead of AMD currently. The R200 series is slightly worse than the GTX700 series. And there's the mid-range GTX900 series cards coming out soon (not sure when, google it).
For current cards I'd say GTX760 is the one to look at.

If you wanna save some money you could skip the SSD or HDD. Having both is not necessary, especially since you probably have an HDD in your old computer that you could just transfer over.
You might wanna get a get a larger sized disk btw. Because SSDs become more cost efficient at 250GB, while HDDs become more cost efficient at 2TB. I'd advise against buying things below those capacities.

For PSU you'll just want any seemingly good cheap 80+ gold PSU.

For RAM I recommend the Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP (Very Low Profile) memory. Not sure if it's available in 2*4GB, but I bought a set of 2*8GB and they are fast, tiny, draw less power and produce less heat than normal ones.

Odd, I thought some games required some CPU power. It won't matter how nice your game looks, if it can't run.

I didn't look as to how strong Ryze's CPU was, but I'm writing to tell him that i've had very disappointing experiences with AMD CPUs. I won't argue w. searz anymore though - His diatribe rubbed me the wrong way; GL with your compooter

Are you kidding me? You think the games of today won't run on an AMD CPU that is multitudes more powerful than the CPU in the PS4 and Xbox One?
And you link to a site that has zero relevant info for the discussion...

With 750€ budget in germany you can get soem niiiice stuff.
Just save some money on the name brand stuff that is not really needed and upgrade to a R9 280/x or 290.
You can find some good cheap (new) R9 290 at geizhalz.de :D

I won't have internet until 9am today, so I can't really check that fast (phone hotspot 2 stronk).
But I can agree with choosing an Intel over AMD CPU and I agree with Searz that in Gaming those CPUs won't matter alot as it is the GPU.

@OP: What you suggested looks fine to me. Your CPU won't be a bottleneck for pretty much most games for sure, although a latest-gen i5 would be better regardless.

@Searz: I don't think a Z97 board is really necessary. It's only good if you want to do overclocking, else you're paying waay to much for little extra functionality. I'm running a mid-range MSI board and it does the job perfectly.

Hint: the i5 4690K is an overclocking CPU.

I'm pretty sure that he is talking about the fx 8320.

@Ichi thanks for the site, I'm currently looking for good deals in there. So far I've found a r9 280 for 160€ that I will most likely Take :)

I don't think he is, because that wouldn't make any damn sense. Not that he was making much in the first place, but still.
I think it's pretty clear that Z97 is only the choice to make if you pick the i5, otherwise you'll obviously want a cheaper motherboard.

I'm more a software guy but here's my 2 cents:

I'd advise you to keep that SSD in there. It really is a great investment, especially if you shut your computer down often(things boot a lot faster).

Searz is probably right when saying the bottleneck usually lies around the GPU when talking about games, but I would advise getting a nice cpu like an i5k because it just makes everything else a much smoother experience. If you really plan to use the machine for gaming only then I don't think you have to though.

I agree on the harddisk part, last time I checked, the price difference between 1TB and 2TB was relatively small and 2TB of space means you can store a lot without worry. Note that some games are already starting to take up more than 20GB.

The SSD, on the other hand, would be fine like this in my opinion, if you only use it to store the OS files and some much-used software(make sure the libraries and stuff are stored on your harddisk, there are some instructions for that on the interwebz, on Windows it involves creating some config file during installation if I'm not mistaken). That's where it shines after all.

I think you should really add some info to the OP telling what you plan to use this machine for. Also, how long do you want to keep on running the new machine like this?
