I'm unsure about the GTX970 but I'll consider.

Well, it's the only card among the new generation that is out right now and has a reasonable pricetag.
If you don't wanna buy that then you should definitely wait for GTX960, because even if it is unreasonably priced you can rest assured that the GTX760/770 will drop in price.

Also, Asus usually has a solid cooler on their version. Give it a look. (coolers are important, check reviews for fan noise and temperatures)

Sounds good. I'm getting the SSD by tomorrow for almost free so I'll just buy a cooler too.

Would you happen to know much about ipad/tablet computers btw ? I've never really taken a look
at them but I will require one in the future for study purposes. I've thought about spending
200-400 on it. The only requirements are 3G and keyboard attachment (I guess that's pretty
standard tho).

I know a lot about those and I know even more about phones.

First you have two big choices:
1. Form-factor. Do you want a tablet with a large screen or do you want a more portable tablet?
2. Operating System. Android or iOS (Windows Phone is a ****ing disaster, avoid). You have less control over iOS, it's simpler and has less functionality, but there's also less that can go wrong. Android has much more functionality and allows for much more customization. Don't like the homescreen/desktop(launcher)? Get another one! There are about a million different ways your launcher can be changed in both looks and functionality.
And then there is of course advanced things like installing a new recovery and flashing new ROMs. You can change pretty much anything you want on an Android device, provided you know how.
Negatives with Android is fragmentation: the experience differs a lot between the manufacturers. But as long as you pick the right one that shouldn't be a problem.

The main brands you'll want to look at right now is Nexus, Motorola and HTC, but I'm not quite sure the last two are any active in the tablet market, so it's mainly Nexus it would seem.
Nexus is a great brand of Android. It's Google's own brand. This gives huge benefits on the software side, such as top-notch smoothness and instant , guaranteed Android updates.
The Nexus 7 2013 edition is a great tablet. It's starting to fall behind on the performance compared to newer tabets (i.e: gaming performance), but that screen is still one of the best in the market. It's kind of ridiculous how good it was when it was released.

I have the older Nexus 7 2012 edition currently and it's starting to show its age. While it's still relatively snappy, it's very laggy in games and the screen just can't compare to newer models.

I'm thinking of waiting for the Nexus 9, which is rumored to be released in November.
It's rumored to be Google's first 4:3 tablet (only Apple has been doing that format extensively so far).
I'm not sure how I feel about the form-factor. I personally like the 16:10 form-factor because of how perfect it is for reading comics and books.

I've liked ~9,7" screens like this one:

My phone has Android OS but I don't mind learning a new one. I would mostly be reading
books, online articles, making notes (Office program of some kind possibly) and watching
videos and so on. So at least some power is required.

I'm in need of one for the upcoming weeks so I don't find waiting for November a possibility
but it does sound tempting though.

iPad Air 16 GB Would be on a sale for 5 more days so I'm thinking about getting that one.

Actually, all of those require almost no power at all. The only thing that is actually demanding is playing games. The rest should be possible on pretty much any tablet.

For those usage scenarios I'd recommend a 16:10 screen. It's simply superior when it comes to reading and watching video.

So you like the bigger ~10inch form factor. Have you tried the smaller 7-8inch form factor?

I heard office program is quite challenging. I will propably use it to play around the games
too when I'm bored in between classes. I haven't tried smaller ones so far.

Okay, if you can't wait for November it seems your main choices are iPad Air and Nexus 7.
Try a smaller tablet just to get a feel for the size in some store, if you can. Heck, try the Nexus 7 if possible.
And then make the choice after that.

Here's a link to Google's own store. You might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

As for LTE(4G) connectivity, you're gonna have to be ready for a SIGNIFICANTLY higher price if you want a model with support for that.
I would honestly recommend against getting an LTE tablet. If you have a relatively recent Android phone (Android 4.0 and up, I think) you should be able to share the internet connection on the phone to the tablet. That would save you a whole bunch of money. Heck, you could even buy a new cheap phone if your current one doesn't support it.

I'll take a look at the Nexus 7 too. I'm quite sure my phone should support that.
EDIT: I checked the store and it didn't have Nexus 7. 80% of the products are Samsung
Galaxy tabs or ipad mini/air.

EDIT2: I found Nexus 7 which is also on sale. It's 299 compared to Nexus air 399

Do you find 16GB to be enough of memory btw ?

16GB is imo enough memory unless you are planning to download a ****load of games, pictures, music, videos (porn) or other stuff you might be interested about.

Is that dollars or euros?
That's very expensive if it's for the 16GB version. Why not just buy it directly from Google? They sell the Nexus 7 for:
16 GB: US$229
32 GB: US$269
32 GB (LTE model): US$349

16GB should be enough if you don't store a lot of stuff on it. If you like putting a lot of movies or games on it then you'll probably want 32GB though.
Games average around 100MB a piece, but 3D games average more like 500-1000MB a piece.
Movies average 1-2GB a piece.
You have 11-12GB free on the 16GB version and 26-27 free on the 32GB version.
You do the math considering how many things you want on it.
