I said I would come back at Donten Ni Warau. It's pretty good. A shonen with upcoming supernatural elements. Mal compares it to Noragami and I guess I agree to some degree. This one is taking place in a historical time-frame though. Excuse me for my Japanese history, but it's just after carrying swords was forbidden and loads of samurai are going mad and get prosecuted.

There are some badassery and "old connections" ambiances floating about. I'm a sucker for those "old connections"(my English is coming short here) so I can't really say something objectively about it, but I think it's pretty well executed.

Oh and there's some whiny why-can't-I-be-as-strong-as-aniki-type running about but if you ignore him(and his ****ups because he wants to get stronger, you know the type) it's great fun :D

The supernatural elements still aren't defined properly, but it looks like it has something to do with a curse, and it's related to someone or something. One party wants to do mean things with it, one party wants to destroy it, one party wants to protect it.

I would recommend giving it a shot, there are more things going on and I think the characters are interesting(don't hurt me pls)

EDIT: I just watched the first episode of the Psycho-Pass remake(extended version or whatever) and I feel like I've been missing out. I'm not sure whether I should watch the original first or not but I think I'll continue watching this for now. Reminds me a little bit of Ergo Proxy. This one has more action though.

I wacthed a little bit of both Psycho Passes but came to a conclusion to watch the remake.
I was a little bit upset by the season 1 ending/start of season 2 but I can see it coming
together at some point and I hope it will.

Well spent time watching it.

I think most people here read the top 10 thread, but I thought I'd post this here too for those that don't since it's relevant:

Holy ****, it seems Dark Souls was heavily inspired by Berserk

I mean, I clearly saw the similarities, but I never went as far as to think that they were inspired to such an extent. Loads of weapons, armor, general gear and monsters are very similar to those appearing in the Berserk manga. And that image doesn't even bring up the fact that Artorias had a wolf as a companion, the obvious similarity of the red eye orb and the behelit and the fact that there was a young version of Beatrice which looked even more similar to Schierke.
And no, this is not speculation, the developers themselves have admitted to this inspiration on several occasions.

That reminded me that I still haven't read the Berserk manga trough ;/

I found 3 Hellsing "The Dawn" OVA's which were pretty interesting to watch.
I didn't know those were even made and I hope I had watched them earlier
but better late than never.

Okay, so I watched the first 3 episodes of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso.
Someone here said that the art and animation are really high quality.
I couldn't see that in the first 2 episodes, just the little part on the piano in the 3rd episode was convincing.

Thinking back on music animes BECK and K-On did a better job, yet.
Especially, the K-On opening animations where 100% translated from real playing.

This series still has episodes to go, maybe we will see some more stuff on later episodes when he overcomes his dark trauma past lone alpha wolf ****ty loser whiner ****.

Yeah, exactly. That's one of the biggest problem with Tokyo Ghoul. It just jumps straight into the abyss. We hardly even know anything about the characters before **** happens to them. I have no reason to care for any of the characters in their weak/vulnerable moments because they were never really established beyond their basic personality types before **** hit the fan. I literally don't give a **** about the protagonist because he's been nothing but a an annoying **** since the start.

yeah i had 3 people recommend tokyo ghoul (the anime). i felt similarly. it needs to lighten up the dark elements a bit; and in regards to the protagonist, i feel like i have seen this protagonist so many times before. the whimpy crybaby who slowly turns more into a bad *** as it goes on. i mean really how many times have i seen that...too many. i have to admit though the animation and the art are pretty great so it will likely be a successful series, and it is still better than a good deal i have seen even with the stale character personalities.

The whimsy crybaby turning into bad *** is at least happening.

Most other shounen keep their MC a whimsy crybaby and just make him mentally more confident (which doesn't really help the MC getting stronger or anything, but it is all about being confident and nice and saving dem grills for the harem).

Some of the stuff at the start where the blonde girl was running around was much better, plus some of the piano stuff right at the beginning. Over the course of these next two episodes I haven't seen as much, though, and a lot of still frames, so it might just be that they blew a lot of their animation budget/time on episode 1. Also, the obvious 3D rendering on the piano in episode 3 is not good animation.

Eh, this isn't an music anime. It's totally a romance. Totes. 'S all about the feels. That people are playing music is tangential to the feels.

I object to the words you're using to describe this particular loner attitude. Largely because the "dark trauma" and "alpha wolf" tend to imply a certain type of ******* that this main character isn't. He's too, like, inactive to really do well with those labels. I can totally get behind you not liking him--romance animes aren't really your thing (as far as I can tell) and the character archetype is pretty tired--I just want you to accuse it of the right things.

And the last two anime that I'm going to try this season, because now I've tried basically everything:

Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru was pretty fun. I mean, it helps that it's a not-entirely-trope-y magical girl anime (not that it isn't still full of tropes) and I dig magical girl anime. **** happens, magical girls need to defend the world (I think) from the Bad GuysTM or Bad StuffTM will happen. Also one of the starting magical girls has a ****off-sized sword. Realistically, though, it's probably only worth watching if you like magical girl stuff or typical non-dark shounen, both of which it resembles.
Official lifebakaTM Rating: Magical girls are magical / 10

Sanzoku no Musume Ronja I really wish I could like. I mean, it's a Studio Ghibli work. But, like, the double-length first episode wasn't actually all that good. Nothing happens in an extreme way, where both nothing of any real interest happens and what does happen is probably not important and is also super boring to watch. And it's using a 3D rendered art style that just bugs me, which I'm having a really hard time getting into. The two combined mean that I'm probably not even going to watch the third episode, even though I already have it downloaded. Just, damn. I was hoping this would be good, and what I get isn't even worth attempting.
Official lifebakaTM Rating: Safer to skip / 10
