CLG Black and mTw shine in day 2 of ggClassic
eSports Central
The 2nd day of the Leaguecraft ggClassic presented by Arquade was yesterday with group B play. The high profile of teams made for a really great day of League of Legends! Here's a recap of that day.
Here's the list of group B teams:
Probably the most exciting part of the day was the return of The Rain Man to competitive play. The top laner subbed for mTw NA because they are still on a search for their Atlanta replacement. MTW and The Rain Man, sounds like a band name, ended up 2nd in the group to CLG Black, their only lost of the day. However, 2nd place is enough to get them into the playoffs next weekend.
Their aggressive play versus Taipei Assassins was godlike. Their AD Carry, Balls, and AP Carry, mandatorycloud, were able to really take it to their opponents. Balls went 9/1/7 for the game and mandatorycloud went 7/0/9 in a humiliating 27 to 3 loss for the team from Taiwan.
Speaking of the Assassins, they had a tough day. Their first two games versus mTw and 4Not.Fire were hard to believe for a team that many people believed would roll those teams. The aggression from both teams caught TPA very off guard letting the total of deaths for the first two games get up to 57. 4Not.Fire and mTw made the team from Taiwan look like rank amateurs.
The Assassins took some time to get stuff sorted out before the 3rd game against Orbit. The game against Orbit looked like the Taipei Assassins we have come to know. With their carries getting ridiculously farmed and AOE Tank Shen becoming a thing.
The depressing points of the day were the play of Orbit and CLG Prime. Orbit was a hot team coming into this tournament but the team couldn't get it together today. The jungler, Hai L9, was really off his game going 1/26/34 for the day. The problem with CLG Prime could have been chalked up to high ping that they are not used but whatever it is, they looked bad! HotshotGG and Voyboy both had sub-1 KDA ratios ((Kill+Assists)/Deaths) which is pretty terrible. Hopefully whatever they have going on, it will be resolved when they play in The Champions in a week and a half.
All in all, the group B showed some really high level League of Legends play. The best game of the day had to be TPA verus CLG Black. That isn't to take away from the play of mTw and especially the play of The Rain Man on Jayce, go find the VODs if you haven't watched it.

Kills - 5 | Deaths - 6 | Assists - 77
Yes, that is right, 77 assist! The guy was everywhere his team need him to be today and the results show it for mTw NA. He played the game of keep the carry safe perfectly. He played 2 games as Janna and 2 as Soraka and his team completely stomped their opposition. However, when he played Leona against CLG Black, the game did not go his way mostly because Hoodstomp and Bloodwater had a fantastic game. I know it isn't often that you see a support player receive this much appreciation but Muffinqt definitely deserves it today.
Honorable Mention: The Rain Man with a 10.5 KDA ratio today, second to Muffinqt's 13.7.
The playoffs will take place next weekend, July 21-22, and will be double elimination with the following teams battling it out:
I'm sure that next weekend will be even more exciting as this weekend has been. All four teams are consider to be the top echelon of the North American League of Legends scene. Follow ggChronicle on Twitter to find out when to tune in on Saturday, July 21st.
