Let's take a look at some of the more interesting builds that were seen at the League of Legends Season 2 World Championship. Of course, all builds are subjective and have a lot to do with the situation the player is in. However, I have noticed that players that can change their build on the fly are more successful. Let's take a look:
MaKNooN's build against Team Dignitas
MaKNooN was way ahead the whole game. He owned not only crumbzz but all of Team Dignitas. The
Wit's End and
Force of Nature were for Scarra since he was the only threat on dignitas. MaKNooN went 15/3/12 in that game.
MadLife's Alistar against IG
MadLife obviously loves cooldown reduction. Hey, the more
Pulverize and
Triumphant Roar, the better. This was the first game of the tournament and it was back and forth until Azubu Frost finally took it over. MadLife was able to go 1/4/17 in this game and was involved in 18 of the 23 kills. The life steal and attack speed from
Zeke's Herald and the speed from
Shurelya's Reverie was a big factor in that win.
Toyz Anivia against NaJin Sword
Toyz showed that he is a top tier AP carry when he dominated the two games against NaJin Sword. He went 7/0/5 against a Morgana lane that also had a Jax and Maokai; two champions that could jump on him and ruin his day. The
Quicksilver Sash allowed him to get out of sticky situations. The
Athene's Unholy Grail allowed him to spam his abilities to stay up on farm and the
Kindlegem gave him the cooldown to spam those abilities more often.
Wickd's Jayce in game 3 versus World Elite
Wickd got behind against
CaoMei early on, going 1/2/0 in the first 10 minutes. He went back to lane with
Boots of Speed,
Doran's Blade, 2
Long Sword. He started to stabilize, built
The Brutalizer and grabbed a
Pickaxe followed by a
B. F. Sword. He decided to go with
The Bloodthirster before
Last Whisper even though he built the
Pickaxe first. At this point in the game, he decided to always have a
Elixir of Fortitude on him. He ended the game with finally finishing
Mercury's Treads and
Guardian Angel. Wickd turned the snowball around and ended the game 4/2/12 and ~100 cs above CaoMei.
Shy's Singed versus CLG EU in the Semi-Finals
Shy was a beast all tournament long. His play with
Singed,
Jayce, and
Jax was absolutely stellar. In this game against CLG EU, he starts off in a 2v1 lane but just doesn't care. He basically bullied the lane with a
Ninja Tabi. When they switched the lane back,
Wickd didn't have a chance. In the late game, all Shy had to do was build a
Thornmail and
Randuin's Omen in order to be unstoppable.
