IPL 5 finishes 3rd qualifier, 5 spots left
eSports Central
Two more teams have qualified for IPL 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main tournament will return to The Cosmopolitan on November 29th to December 2nd and will showcase the top teams from North America, Europe, and Asia.
Two relatively new teams to the competitive scene made their mark in the 3rd qualifier. In the EU it was ForellenLord's new team, Team Eloblade. The quick up and coming team is comprised of solo queue super stars with the #1 and #2 players on the EU-W Ladder (#1 ForellenLord, #2 Kerp). So far the team has proven that they have great coordination combined with amazing individual skill. The same can be said about the NA qualifier, Meat Playground. Led by former Team Curse member, Pobelter, Meat Playground has been pulling upsets left and right over the last couple of months. The team consists of high elo players like xHazzard, NK INC, LightSludge, and erwinbooze. These two teams are proving that the sky is the limit if you have chemistry mixed with great individual skill.
There are still opportunities for Dignitas, Counter Logic Gaming, SK Gaming, Fnatic, and other mainstays of the competitive scene to qualify for this tournament.
Five spots remain for the main event in Las Vegas. Qualifier #4 in North America and Europe will fill two more spots. The rest of the spots will be filled through a open qualifier at the event where three teams will be able to work their way into the group stage.
NA Bracket
The last online chance for North American teams will feature a bracket with likely match-ups of: Team Legion vs. Under Rated Gaming (Azingy's Team)
Orbit Gaming vs. CLG Prime (In the Quarterfinals)
Dignitas vs iG (In the Semi-Finals)
Dignitas/iG vs. CLG Prime (In the Finals)
All of those teams, except for Under Rated Gaming, could be top 4 at any tournament and now they are all looking to qualify for one of the last spots of IPL5. That shows just how deep the IPL5 tournament will be.
EU Bracket
The final EU qualifier features teams like Fnatic, SK Gaming, Curse EU, and new teams like Copenhagen Wolves, WinFakt, and GameStylers. The semi-finals look to be a brawl of the juggernauts with match-ups likely to be SK Gaming vs Curse EU with the winner likely to face off against Fnatic in the finals.
There is a lot on the line. A trip to Las Vegas. A chance at a $100,000 prize pool. Most of all, the chance to play against the best teams in the world in a LAN setting. IPL5 is gearing up to be great.
