IPL5 Taiwan Qualifier Group C

by Mowen July 10, 2012 @ 02:07pm

This article covers Group C's GTS vs. SSWIE and Corsair vs. TtDragons. Group C also being referred to as "The Group of Death" has churned out so many great games, and these are just a couple of them.

GTS vs SSWIE

GTS

Tiger - Anivia
Heaven_IVVIV - Skarner
HeyPun - Kog-maw
Janna
Ghost - Malphite
.....................................
SSWIE

GreenTea - Ezreal
ICEman - Taric
Eternal - Karthus
ChessSun - Rammus
Prydz - Darius

Playstyle Analysis:

Rammus has a great gank to get first blood top for Darius. Once Darius starts snowballing he's very hard to stop and he bullies Malphite.

GTS has really good initiation with Anivia and Skarner. They catch SSWIE offguard sometimes. However, SSWIE also has strong initiation with Darius and Rammus, but their initiation is usually better at catching 1 person instead of multiple.

The only time SSWIE loses fights is when Ezreal gets caught by Skarner. Ezreal takes a Quicksilver Sash to try to alleviate this, but GTS still makes a point of getting him down early.

Corsair vs. TtDragons

Corsair

Artie - Ahri
Perfume - Taric
Albis - Graves
UDJ - Nocturne
Os4 - Vladimir
.....................................
TtDragons

Gulucat - Draven
3345678 - Soraka
Lantyr - Nautilus
SimonNight - Gragas
Dior007 - Kayle

Playstyle Analysis:

We've seen TtDragons use the Gragas Draven combo to great effect before. Gragas's huge aoe burst in teamfights lets Draven clean up so easily.

Nocturne making a point to continually gank bot lane, keeping Draven down. Ahri joins in Nocturne once they're both 6 and towerdive Draven. Draven's strong harass early game is his main advantage, so they take that away from him.

Kayle does very well against Vladimir top because of her strong early game. Vlad becomes way behind in farm, even though Kayle never kills him.

Graves takes Bloodthirster and Phantom Dancer which is usually thought of as a Season 1 carry build. It works out pretty well for him since Corsair is so ahead that Graves isn't in that much danger of dying, which is the frustrating part about using a Bloodthirster.

When Corsair has Baron and is already ahead they send Nocturne to split push, and make it impossible for Tt to defend both bot and top inhibitor turrets. Nocturne is good for this since he can always ult in if Tt initiates.
