Legion's Lautemortis talks about IPL Faceoff, Season 2, and Wild Turtle

Team Legion, formerly RFLX Gaming, had a coming out party last weekend at IPL Faceoff, getting 3rd place in a very good field of teams. The 3rd place finish propelled them not only to 7th in the North American Challenger Circuit standings, but also, onto the radar of a lot of League of Legends fans. We were able to ask the jungler of Team Legion, Lautemortis, some questions about their background, their training, the end of season 2, and their expectations with season 3. Enjoy!

Many people didn't really know much about Team Legion before IPL Faceoff. Can you give us some background on the team?

The core of team Legion has been playing together for roughly a year on competitive teams. Our mid pr0lly, our support iNoObish and I played all the way back to MLG providence on team RFLX. Our team relies on really strong early games to snowball teams into mid game pressure. We love to take early objectives and surprise the other teams with our aggression. Aggression in lane, aggression in ganking, and aggressively taking towers, dragons, and barons.

What was the practice schedule like going into IPL Faceoff?

We practiced whenever Wild Turtle happened to be online. Which happened to be around 2-3 hours a day. It was pretty rigorous because we happened to try to keep practicing a lot in solo queue as well.

Where was PR0LLY? When is he expected back?

Pr0lly was on vacation in Greece with his family. He should be back sometime this week, which is great so we can start trying to get back into the groove and work through the rust we'll have picking up someone who is several patches behind.

How did LgN find Wild Turtle? Do you expect him to get picked up by a team in the near future?

Wild Turtle was a player we've known since he was on TD (at that time they were still Monoesports). We always thought he was a very skilled player that was far too good to not be on a team. When I approached him about playing mid he seemed confident and we decided we would work with him to help him learn enough about mid lane to lane at a comfortable tourney level. He did great with us and if he continues to remain off a team I would be very surprised.

In order to get to the regionals at PAX, LgN will need to do better than mTw and Orbit at Raleigh. How do you view the team's chances of making the regionals?

We have a very good chance of making it to regionals. Orbit will need to place top 4 to knock us out and mTw will have to place higher. That means the road to regionals is still in our control and we will practice and do our best to hold onto our spot at PAX.

The addition of Demunlul and Cruzer has been a substantial part of the success you guys have seen. Do you feel you have a shot to be a disruptor at MLG Raleigh or the Season 2 Regionals by taking out TSM and CLG?

We definitely have the potential to beat out other top teams. And our play style makes it possible for us to take a game off of any team in a best of one. I would say you should expect quite a few surprising lineups to come from Legion and to watch out for some early tower dives.

Is LgN a full-time professional team or do you guys have day jobs and/or in school?

LgN has players that play and stream full-time to make money as well as some that go to school and work. We're still a work in progress as far as availability but we are working on prioritizing league and our team and making a splash at the end of the season.

What does LgN expect from season 3?

Season 3 is going to be a really awesome experience if we are able to make top 8 teams. We are all very excited about the money Riot is putting into the game to make it into a career and a lasting eSport. If we are able to make enough money playing league that we can put work/school on hold it will be very exciting to see what strategies we can pull out for season 3.

Shoutouts to Razer and Sanshee for sponsoring us and providing us with all the gear and accessories to play League of Legends at the highest level.
