Solomid Series #1 Day 2 completes
eSports Central
The Solomid Series #1 completed the second day on Saturday. The tournament series operates on a point standing which will decide which four teams will play in the final playoff in a few weeks. Obviously, going out early in any of these tournaments will hurt a teams chances for the big money.
The teams that were first knocked out today were Meat Playground and Team Dignitas. Meat Playground had to play with a hodgepodge of members in their first game against Team Dynamic. In the 2nd game, they had Pobelter back in the middle lane but it wasn't enough to take down Team Dynamic.
There comes a point when you have your full roster and the other team is playing with subs, that you shouldn't lose. Unfortunately for dignitas, they lost a 2-1 series against 3/5 of CLG Prime, Chauster on AD Carry, and a jungler by the name of DJ Lambo that obviously shouldn't have the synergy with the team that IWDominate should have with Team Dignitas. I don't understand the whole mentality of online tournaments aren't serious and offline events are the only thing that matters. A true competitor should want to win every game and if dignitas truly can't beat a mishmash of players for CLG Prime, it might be time to make some moves.
In the rest of the competition, TSM and Curse moved on to the winners bracket final. The two teams will play at 2:30 PM EST on Sunday, the loser moves on to face Orbit Gaming in the losers bracket final. Speaking of Orbit, the team made a resilient run through Team Dynamic and CLG Prime after losing to Curse early in the day. WildTurtle has proven to be a huge pickup in the bottom lane and Nien seems to be working out fine in the middle lane in this tournament.
I kept track of builds throughout the day and here are some that I found interesting.
Balls on
Jayce against Dyrus'
Irelia where he was ahead early on. He built a brutalizer and double doran's blades to get even further ahead; it was obvious that his team was going to need him to carry this game.
Unfortunately that didn't happen, he got ahead with the early game but had little by defensive items and just got chunked quickly in fights. The
Doran's Blades delayed
The Bloodthirster by a lot. Unfortunately for Balls, his team was not helping and TSM was straight up stomping him, but if you want to know what to do against
Irelia to win the lane, Balls showed you.
Final Build:
Last night I was reading the Tankarina guide by xIchi and I found it interesting. Now Reginald didn't go full Tankarina but he definitely went survival mode, janitor style
Katarina. He started with this:
He was steadily racking up kills and obviously carrying TSM to a victory. He quickly picks up
Guardian Angel. Gets a couple more kills and goes for the finishing blow with
Rabadon's Deathcap. He finishes the game with a score of 10/1/4 and about 70 cs over MandatoryCloud.
The early MR and penetration allowed him to bully
Ahri in lane. He was ahead the whole game and the tankiness of the items just made it even harder for MandatoryCloud to get back into the game. He ended up with the most magic resist in the game with 147.5.
Final Build:

Are you kidding me? Fire this writer. How does building a single defensive item make it tankarina? |
