Voyboy shines as CLG advances in The Champions

by Alan LaFleur July 27, 2012 @ 06:07am

Group D of the Azubu The Champions is showing exactly why it is the Group of Death with intense action Friday. The first game of the day was a must win for CLG if they to advance from the group. If CLG won, it would be up to MVP Blue to force a 3 way tiebreaker. So, Incredible Miracle needed to win to seal their own fate, a loss would put their fate out of their hands.

Win this game and Incredible Miracle is in the round of 8; lose and they have to rely on MVP Blue. So, they decide to throw Morgana in the top lane versus Jax. It didn't go well.

The game did feature some great teleporting around the map from both top laners. In the beginning of the game, Voyboy teleported while HotshotGG snuck up on Ring and together they took him out for first blood. In another situation Cornsalad teleported down to the bottom lane to help secure some kills on Doublelift and Chauster. However, Voyboy teleported in right after and helped secure the double kill, which equaled the kill count at 3.

CLG started grouping up around the 15 minute mark to play a bit more aggressively. In what may have been the tilting factor for the game, 3 members of CLG waited in a bush for Ring to show up. When the jungler got close, they bursted him down in a second. In the meantime, bigfatlp surrounded MidKing and they jumped on him to secure the double kill. Lilac then decided to jump in with a Solar Flare but it turned out to be suicide. It turned out to be enough for Requiem to take down both Doublelift and Chauster. While this is going on Voyboy took down Cornsalad in a really close duel.

Voyboy continued to get big as he bullied around Morgana and destroyed Incredible Miracle in the teamfights around dragon and baron. At the baron fight, Incredible Miracle initiated with Leona but were unable to stop the unstoppable force of Jax. CLG was able to pick up baron and gain a 7k gold lead around the 22 minute mark. Just a few minutes later, CLG was able to secure a 4 for 1 fight. IM initiated the fight while CLG still had baron. The kill count was now 19 to 9 in favor of CLG and there was no way that IM would be able to stop them.

Voyboy goes 10/0/7 and gets the deserving MVP.

If MVP Blue win this game, there will be a tie breaker. If not, CLG advances to the round of 8.

MVP decided to invade CLG's jungle but CLG spotted them. CLG was able to set up to greet them when they entered the bush. They were able to burst down NOFE and continued the ambush which resulted in four kills to none for CLG before the laning phase. Every member of CLG went into their lane with a massive advantage that MVP Blue would never come back from.

HotshotGG did a great job of keeping pressure on the top lane which made sure that Duelist would never be able to farm safely and was constantly behind Voyboy.

The lead from the level 1 kills only continued to grow as CLG was getting kills all over the map.

The deciding fight (that didn't happen at level 1) was when Doublelift got a great swap that was able to completely decimate the MVP team. CLG was able to push with ease to win the game.

These two games were great for the international community, showed that our best teams have not been surpassed by the Koreans. However, the second game was painful to watch after the first 2 minutes. The win allowed CLG to advance alongside their brother team, CLG EU.
