Berzerk is a lazy RPG maker obsessed jerk, so I, OTGBionicArm will be filling in for this particular Top Facts. He also apparently dislikes Zac and, I, for one welcome our new gooman overlord.


Champion Overview:


Zac is ironically tanky champion that excels at initiation, sustained damage and healing. In lane, Zac is an almost unmovable force that wins trades easily with most enemy champions. Zac is a good pick if your team needs CC, a tanky initiator, or more magical damage. Zac brings a unique sustain mechanic into lane which forces the enemy laner to be aware of blobs flying off him. Zac has an amazing laning phase for a tank and deals heavy sustained damage even with a tank item set. Zac is generally a safe pick in lane and can be picked for almost any team.

Skills Overview:


Cell Division(Passive)- Each time Zac hits an enemy with an ability, he sheds a chunk of himself that can be reabsorbed to restore 4% of his maximum health.
Upon taking fatal damage, Zac splits into 4 chunks that attempt to recombine. If any of these chunks remain after 8 seconds, he will revive with 10-50% health depending on the health of the surviving chunks. Each chunk has 12% of Zac's maximum health, and 50% of his armor and magic resistance. This ability has a static cooldown and is unaffected by cooldown reduction.

Zac's abilities cause blobs to fly on the ground for him to retrieve and heal with. This healing, when unchecked makes Zac nearly impossible to kill if he isn't stopped from picking up his bloblets. It's also a double edged sword, as you can easily deny him his blobs and massive sustain, if you're paying attention and react quickly. The second part of his passive is a revive that's situationally amazing. If Zac is focused down in a team fight, he'll either rejoin the fight a few seconds later, or the enemy team will waste even more time trying to kill his blobs, giving your team ample time to clean up.


Stretching Strikes-Zac lashes out with an elastic punch, dealing 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 220 (+50% of ability power) magic damage to all enemies hit and slowing them by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% for 2 seconds.

Zac's punch is a very fast skill shot that slows. Against most melee champions this is free poke that is very hard to avoid. it is also Zac's most reliable wave clearing ability early on.


Unstable Matter-Zac's body erupts, dealing magic damage equal to 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 plus 4 / 4.5 / 5 / 5.5 / 6% (+ 2% per 100 AP) of their maximum health to all nearby enemies (max 200 damage against minions and monsters).

This ability should be spammed as often as possible for things like trading, last-hitting and basically any other purpose. Spamming it gives you more blobs which = more heals, so feel free to use it whenever. It does hefty damage to health stackers over time and later on is very strong for wave clearing as well as speedy Dragon and Baron kills.


Elastic Slingshot=Zac faces the cursor and begins charging for up to 1 second. After 0.9 / 1 / 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 second(s) or after reactivating the ability, he launches himself towards the target location, dealing 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to all enemies hit and knocking them back for 0.5 seconds. Can be cancelled by moving, refunding 50% of the health cost and halving the cooldown.

This is Zac's core engagement ability. The range on this thing is ridiculous and he can often charge it from the other side of walls, unseen to engage. This is also his primary means of escape, should he have to retreat, but watch out for stuns or snares, they will put the ability on cooldown immediately. Learning his many gank paths and escape routes through this ability makes Zac a terror across the field.


Let's Bounce-Zac leaps into the air and begins to bounce on the ground, up to a maximum of 4 bounces. Each bounce deals 140 / 210 / 280 (+40% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies, knocks them up for 1 second, and slows them by 20% for 1 second. Enemies hit more than once take half damage and are not knocked up or slowed. Zac gains an accelerating movement speed buff (20-50%) and 50% Tenacity while active. Zac can move and activate Unstable Matter while in the air. While active, Zac is unable to activate Stretching Strike or Elastic Slingshot.

Zac's ultimate is broken. Think of it as a magical damage Cyclone that also grants tenacity. Zac may also spam Unstable Matter while this is active for more AoE damage. An entire duration of this hitting enemies will also drop an absurd amount of blobs on the ground for Zac to heal with. At level 6, with his ultimate he can actually 100-0 many top laners if they disrespect or are ignorant to his damage output.

Zac can max any of his abilities first, for different reasons. His Q is by far the best option in most situations. It has strong bursty damage, low cooldown and a slow, and is his best early wave clearing ability. Against ranged champions, maxing E might be a better option to more reliably reach and damage them.

E > W > Q > R > W: All in kill combo.

General Matchups:


Strong Vs

Zac is strongest against burty champions that rely heavily on cooldowns to do damage.


Weak Vs

Zac is somewhat weak against ranged champions that rely on auto attack or ability poke on low cooldown.

Playing AS/VS:

As:
  • Don't be afraid to shove if you have wards. Zac has amazing escape if need be and amazing harass, even when the enemy is under the turret.
  • Abuse non-sustained laners. Keep fighting them and healing yourself. They will either back off or die and you get free lane. Or they force their jungler to try and camp you.
  • If you have free time, camp mid. Zac can gank mid from obscure places like from wraith camp.
Vs:
  • Step on his stupid blobs. Deny his advanced healing. I'd say they will land nearer to you about 50% of the time. Keep your eyes peeled.
  • Magical resistance helps mitigate his damage more than health, due to Unstable Matter.
  • If you have a chance to remove his passive without dying, take it. He's very vunerable without it.

Big Item Choices::


Sunfire Aegis- Synergizes nicely with his innate AoE damage, and provides moderate durability for a reasonable price.

Liandry's Torment- Zac benefits from magic pen more than AP and has spammable spells, making Liandrys an amazing offensive choice for him.

Spirit Visage- Make Zac's healing even more horrendously annoying. 20% CDR is adding injury to insult.

Sorcerer's Shoes- Zac is the only tank I'd recommend these on because his ultimate give shim free tenacity while active, and as stated before magic pen is amazing on him.

Abyssal Mask- Another well valued offensive item for Zac, and even better if running with another AP at mid.

Randuin's Omen- The single best tank item for Zac, amazing passive and active. Can't really say no to this item ever.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter- Adds slows to his W and E, and synergizes with Liandry's Torment. Adds to Zac's massive health pool and is all around a great offensive buy.


Gametypes:

SoloQ:

Zac can pressure lanes easily, as well as roam and camp mid. His ability to gank unexpectedly is a Godsend in soloQ. He is a master team fighter and can singlehandedly force all escapes from enemy backliners, and likely kill them on his own if he isn't stopped.
Ranked 5s:

Everything said about soloQ +team coordination makes Zac's ganks and initiation even more devastating.

Conclusion:


Zac is a very fun and strong champion everyone should be adding to their top lane roster now.
I personally have used him to reach my goal of Gold, and continue using him to strive to platinum.
