Hello mates,

today I would like to write something about troll-reports. By that I mean reports that are obviously false, and you (or anyone else) can get them from toxic players just because you are unfortunate enough to provoke the wrath of the mighty troll - on yourself.

Sometimes, when reviewing cases, I can't find much wrong with the player, and only by careful reading the whole chatbox I can find out, that the reported player was actually one of the good guys. But he did a grave mistake by opposing the troll.

And that same thing happened to me some time ago.

I was playing a bot game, just to get the daily bonus and not have to think a lot about the game. And when playing bot games, I don't care much about what other players do, as I understand they may be just trying new champion, new build or different tactics.

But there was this Jax, who was dying quite a lot. Not that much to be a feeder, but he was dead pretty much. I watched him for a while, to find out he was doing some genuine newbie mistakes. By the time I wanted to tell him few basic rules like not to auto-attack enemy under their turret, my other teammate started to complain.

You know the usuals: "you noob", "what are you doing idiot", "stop feeding you moda****er" " Master Yi is fed because of you, *****" and so on. That kid wasn't playing very good himself, but he went so toxic, he even started to play even worse than he was before! Soon he was just one death behind Jax. I wanted to calm him down, and did a terrible mistake - by talking to that toxic kid.

When he threatened Jax with reporting, I said something about him being genuine noob, that this is a stupid bot game and I guess what triggered his rage towards me was, that I said he was even bigger feeder (as by that time he was dead several times more than Jax, who stopped tower-diving after I told him why he always die in there).

The nightmare came true. Kid started to accuse me of being noob, while I was second best in team, talked trash about me and when I joked about reporting him for being noob, instead of Jax for being a troll, I just sentenced myself for good.

What I didn't know was, that this toxic kid had a premade friend in that match. By this time he entered the chat with him saying, that he will report me as well for being a verbal abuser and added few nice things about me, my mother and my LoL skill.

So, now I'm 100% sure I got reported and there is somewhere a report about me. I just hope reviewers will read the chat carefully and find out what was going on. It would be really not cool to get banned for defending unskilled player, who was just playing a training bot game.

But on the other hand, it made me realize what to do when encountering trolls, that should be applied in any game (ranked, normal or bot).
  • Do not feed the troll: if they start raging, don't argue with them. EVER. Unless you play ranked match, state the obvious - it's jsut a normal/bot game. No need for panic and being rude. If you feel like defending the bad player, ask them if they need help, and ask troll to give him one more chance. Or tell him to report the noob for being unskilled (not real harm done with that kind of report). The best solution so far is never even talk to troll at all. The more toxic he gets, the worse will your team perform. Mind that.
  • Do not be rude to troll: if you start accusing troll of being toxic, or you touch his pride by saying he is a bad player himself, you can be 100% sure he will report you just in spite. So don't do it.
  • Mute the troll: Do it right away! So he won't poison your mind and will not throw you off your concentration. And advise the rest of the team to do the same.
  • Get the mood back: Cheer up your team with something nice, or if you know what are you doing, propose some plan to the team (like split-push, push, get the dragon or attack solo enemy). Outspamm the troll with positive chat.
  • Never let the troll know what are you up to: and I really mean NEVER. Never tell him you are going to report him, otherwise you are asking for trouble (in form of troll-report for fabricated reason). Just keep calm, play as best as you can, and then, in the post-game lobby, do the right thing. Report that toxic piece of *****.

All in all it's pretty easy. Do not engage the troll, mute him and afterwards report him. All nice and quiet, without him knowing.

Just don't do the same mistake as I (and many other players) did. Be careful, mates. I'm loosing my time by reviewing troll-cases as well. ;-)

I hope this helped and you won't get troll-reported in the future.

Good luck and see you soon!
