Example Final Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Zeds early laning phase will somewhat decide how the rest of lane will play out. I always like to assert my dominance in lane early, by poking with q. Zeds early damage is pretty solid, especially when you can proc thunder lords frequently. If you were able to get control of the lane early, continue to bully, using w,e,q combos, procing TL whenever possible.
If you weren't able to get lane dominance, or just being poked out, sit back and farm with q. Don't be afraid to let the minions reach your tower, zed's passive makes last hitting extremely easy.
After Level Six
Zed is one of the many assassin champions who have a huge level six power spike. When you know you are about to hit six, try and poke the enemy laner down in preparation for an all in. Make sure to take into account the enemy's summoner spells as they can easily mess with your all ins. After poking the laner to about half health. Either use the poke combo of w,e,q, again and then take your w shadow into an ultimate, or simply ult the person if they are in range. Whenever you ult try and use your e, as it is free damage and will increase your ult damage, as well as help you proc TL. After ulting and using your e, try and land your double q. If the enemy is still high health ignite for security.
If you are not in a position to all in, make a roam. Assassins need to snowball, which means they need early kills and gold to be successful. Check the map to see low health, or pushed up enemies and coordinate with your team to set up the roam.
After you have several kills and items under your belt, the one shotting begins. As laning phase ends your main purpose is to take out the enemy's squishy damage dealer. Most commonly these are the mid laner or adc champions. Make use of your red trinket to sneak up on unprotected adcs or squishy mages as they try to farm. Remember assassins jump into fights, blow all their cooldowns, and then get out. You need to be able to kill your target before the enemy team is able to focus you down.
When late game comes is when the assassin has the hardest time. At that point the enemy team most likely has tanky front liners and their adc/mid laner will have one or two defensive items. Your job is still just to jump into the back line, kill thier damage dealer, and then escape.
