Here's the deal, this is one of the funiest champions that you can play.
Ready to let AMUMU QQ and drop his tears do break enemies heart?
The deal with amuum is that he can 1v1, 1v2, even 1v3 if used rigth.
I'll try to give you an explanation about how I use this bandage guy and you can try it by your self.

If laning with an AP champion, burst its damage with his passive

Mana thirsty early game
Slow with Movement Level 2 (That's why I pick Movement 3 Boots
For the runes I like to get a nice harass at the early game, so I puck up
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration, Greater Glyph of Ability Power and Greater Quintessence of Ability Power so I get MagicPen and AP. Making my Despair lowering their health as hell after I reach lv 3.
Greater Quintessence of Armor and Greater Seal of Armor give me some armor to survive early game.
Late game. We will just see the Greater Mark of Magic Penetration effect.
For the spells I pick up Ghost and Ignite
Ghost Allows me to chase and keep damaging the enemie while he tries to scape, for the time that Ghost effect goes off, my Bandage Toss is ready again, so I still have that guy in sight so I can toss him.
Ignite Cuz it keeps doing DPS damage, so I own 4x Damage per Second stuff... Despair Sunfire Cape Curse of the Sad Mummy and Ignite, that can kill almost everyone...
Flash : Allows you to port in the middle of enemy team and Curse of the Sad Mummy on them, starting a great figth. Or it can save you if you failed you Bandage Toss on a minion / monster.
Clarity : Migth be usefull at early game but late game its useless.
and those are the ones I could consider using.
On the items... I first pick Boots of Speed and 2x Health Potion so I can run after a figth at botom bush or getting a kill, without getting killed myself. If I can stay at lane after that figth I stay.
Turning into Boots of Swiftness
My second pick is Sunfire Cape among with Despair it's a great harass - kill eventually. To build the Sunfire Cape you migth usually grab Chain Vest if going vs meele AD, or Giant's Belt against AP nukers, after getting ur Sunfire Cape done grab Randuin's Omen for the Armor and it's Active Skills that slow surounding targets for a short time, but that migth mean more damage from your Despair Sunfire Cape and also waiting for Bandage Toss to stun and close distance again and get the kill.
After this, I usually get Abyssal Scepter to boost my Magic Damage - Magic Resist and also add some Magic Pen.
Depending on who are you figthin get Thornmail or Force of Nature to prevent your death.
You can change your Randuin's Omen for Aegis of the Legion
Or getting Void Staff for extra Magic Pen.
Amumu skills are overrated by everyone.
But the rigth thing is that he's OP on late game, thanks to his skills
Amumu's Passive Cursed Touch
Amumu's autoattack decrease enemies Magic Resistance depending on your level.
Amumu's Q Bandage Toss
Its and awesome distance closer and also stun the enemy it catch.
Also its what I use to call "Life Saver" since you can land this skill on the minions or monster all over the map, you can do wall port while running from enemies.
Amumu's W Despair
This one is my principal source of damage when playing with amumu, its a DPS AP skil.
This can kill a champion while he's chasing you, once he notice he's almost death you turn around and toss his face with ur Q
You can use this skill as you wish since its a toggle skill. Get sure to W just after clicking on your Q's target, so you land on him with your tears out.
Amumu's E Tantrum
Well here we get an intresting skill. It have a passive that reduce incoming damage on amumu.
The active part of the skill hits surrounding enemies with magic damage.
But the intresting part is that this skill cooldown is reduced by 0.5sec by every hit taken. Wich allows you to get in the middle of that massive minion wave and tantrum every 2 seconds, this mean its a super spamable skill, but beware of running out of mp.
Amumu's R Curse of the Sad Mummy
Excelent CC ultimate, wich entangles enemies in a nice range and make them almost useless for 2.5 sec. Also it does a pretty nice damage + 100% of your AP... EVERY SECOND, so it means ( Despair + Sunfire Cape + Tantrum + Curse of the Sad Mummy + Teammates if not doing 1vSomeone? = OMFG How did I died?) and they will keep hitting they keyboard like crazy 5 year old girl that lost her barbie's head and she find it out on his brother's desktop... sorry, wrong story... Anyway....
You want to land ur Bandage Toss with Despair already on, once you got to him Tantrum.! , after ur stun is out you Curse of the Sad Mummy on his running ***, getting next to him, use Ignite, once he's running again, you Bandage Toss should be back up, if you dont miss it, Tantrum again and he should be death.
So this mean... (Q/W + E + R + F + Q + E) with autoattack as its possible...
NOTE: EVERY TIME YOU CAN, AUTO ATTACK THEM SO YOUR PASSIVE WILL WORK.

Number 1 : From outside bot towers to Golem / Witch
Number 2 : From Golem / Witch to Mid lizard
Number 3 : From outside top towers to Wolves / Golems
Number 4 : Middle of Top lane to Dragon
Number 5 : From Mid Lizard to bottom lane, Gank starter Bandage
Number 6 : From bottom bush the the Golem / Witch
