Hello, my name is Thoukka, I am currently on the EU WEST Server and
play alot of Udyr Toplane with Wingborne Storm. After the release of Vi I started playing LoL. I started playing Udyr after I watched alot of Trick2g's videos and it's inspired by him. I have a 63% Winratio with Udyr and I show you how to win simply with Udyr in the Toplane!



For all who want to see my Summoner Profile:

Terminology

AD = Attack Damage
AP = Ability Power
MR = Magic Resistance
ARM = Armor
AoE = Area of Effect
CC = Crowd Control
OP = Overpowered
AS = Attack Speed
CDR = Cooldown Reduction

I run 9 Greater Mark of Attack Speed which help me in the first clear and allows for faster phoenix proc since it is every third attack, on top of it Udyr is full auto-hit based, so the more attack speed you have the better is it for you to deal more damage. These runes work also with other attack speed reliant toplaners.


Always when laning you will be using Greater Seal of Armor since it is essential for you to take less damage from enemie champion poke/kite. This may not be much but it is definately noticable in-game.


You need Cooldown Redcution when playing Udyr, you want to start with 5% Cooldown Reduction for faster Stance-Rotation. Later in the game you get more Cooldown Reduction from your Items. You always want to get close to 40% Cooldown Reduction with Udyr. When you decide to go Items without CDR then make sure that you get Elixir of Brilliance after finishing your Item build.


Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist allows you to take less damage when getting ganked by mid (most of the time the midlaner is AP) or an AP jungler. It also helps later on in the game when teamfighting or splitpushing against an AP Champ.


Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed, this gives you a nice little bonus when chasing or escaping from someone. Althought it might not seem like a lot, but it is actually enough to give you the additional auto attack while chasing someone which might decide if you kill the enemie champion or not.

DEFENSE: 21

I am going 21 in Defense for the ultimate lategame tankyness.
It gives you stats based on "%" :

• Enchanted Armor

• Juggernaut

• Swiftness

• Tenacious

• ...

,but Flat stats aswell :

• Veteran Scars

• Hardiness

• Resistance

• Legendary Guardian

Utility: 9

I take 9 points in Utility, because of the Movementspeed ( Fleet of Foot), the Sustain ( Alchemist ) and the Teleport and Ghost CDR ( Summoner's Insight ).

First I am maxing Wingborne Storm for better waveclear and damage output.
Second I am maxing Iron Mantle for sustain while laning phase and splitpushing.
Third I am maxing Blazing Stampede for higher mobility to escape from ganks and to chase enemies down.
The rest of the points I put into Wilding Claw.

Trinity Force

This item provides you much damage as well as the movement speed per attack which synergizes well with your Bear Stance. Sheen is also nice because you are pretty much doubling your phoenix damage. This item gives you all needed stats for becoming a good toplane Udyr.

Zephyr

This is more like a Wilding Claw item but I see the potential on Wingborne Storm too. It grants you this additional movement speed which is great on Udyr and it grants you some offensive statistics such as damage and attack speed. On top of it you dont want to get slowed as Udyr so you need Tenacity wich reduces the duration of CC.

Frozen Heart

I pretty much like this Item on Udyr, because it gives you him so much that he needs. You get 20% CDR to spam your abilities as much as you can and you get enough mana that you dont need bluebuff anymore to spam your abilities the whole time. Also it gives you armor for easy turret dives.

Sunfire Cape

This Item is an awesome Item for Udyr, because then you get double AoE with the Wingborne Storm passive. It helps you out, when you are sitting on the enemies to kill the enemie faster and tank turret shots and auto hits.

Phoenix Stance

-High AoE damage
-Gives per second dmg to nearby enemie champions
-On every third hit bonus damage

Bear Stance

-Gives you movement speed
-Stuns enemie champions on-hit

Turtle Stance

-Shields you for while
-Gives you life steal

Tiger Stance

-Gives you attack speed over time
-The next autohit deals additional damage to anything
-More damage on-hit

Pros

+ High mobility
+ High sustain
+ Very strong laning phase, hard to force him out due to turtle
+ Can stun multiple targets really fast: Blazing Stampede
+ Scales pretty strong into late game
+ Very good waveclear and AoE damage with Phoenix
+ Strong Splitpusher. You can overextend without any problems.

Cons

- Runs easily out of mana in early game
- Relies on snowballing from early game to be a huge threat late game
- Slows ruin his ability to close gaps with Blazing Stampede
- Can be kited easily if you don't have Ghost
- No ultimate skill

You should always try to splitpush, when you dont have to help your team or won succesful a teamfight. The team just needs you for pushing or taking out enemie champs. Udyr isnt a teamfight champ, he is a splitpush champ. So make sure that you bait the enemie to you by splitpushing. When the enemie team send 2 or more persons to your lane, then your team can start a teamfight with 4v3 or even 4v2 advantage. You are fast enough to get away from the enemie who are send to you and you maybe can even help your team at teamfighting because of your high mobility. Thats how Udyr works. Taking permanent pressure in mid and late game to the lanes.
