After watching S3 AD GOD Uzi from Royal Club Huang Zu continue his dominance with Starhorn Royal Club and now with the recent imports from Korea to China with names like Deft, Imp, and Namei it is pretty hard not to say that China has the greatest Marksmen players in the world

About Caitlyn


Caitlyn is a long range marksman. A marksman or attack damage carry (ADC) specializes in building high amounts of attack damage and doing tons of damage. Marksmen typically have a weak laneing phase but scale extremely well into the late game allowing them to do mass damage.

Caitlyn is known for her strong laneing phase compared to most marksmen due to a combination of her Headshot, Piltover Peacemaker, and her auto attack range of 650. Her main downside is the slump she hits during the mid game but she comes back once she hits the late game.

Caitlyn is an expert pusher due to her passive and her range allowing her to perfectly fit the current sieging meta and be an extremely strong choice for most team compositions.

Caitlyn's range and abilities like Headshot and Piltover Peacemaker allow Caitlyn to easily poke with her opponent. This range comes back after laneing phase when i comes to taking towers and objectives and to fit the current sieging meta. Caitlyn's other abilities allow her to zone out the enemy and out put the most damage possible and 90 Caliber Net is an amazing escape tool when you end up in a bad spot.

Caitlyn like most other marksmen is extremely squishy relying on a support to both protect them and to sock up the damage. Piltover Peacemaker also is at a high mana cost making her have large mana issues against her enemies. Caitlyn also has a very weak mid game and this hinders he ability but if you use this build guide the early Zeal and Last Whisper will help you get over that hurtle. Caitlyn has a lot of troubles when not utilizing her long range and against champions like Lucian has close range troubles

On all marksmen you should go 21 into offensive and with Caitlyn you don't need any AP like with champions like Corki or Ezreal. The 9 into defensive is a personal choice taking it for better trade potential where as you could take 9 in utility for better mana and for increased Total Biscuit of Rejuvenation

Abilities




Headshot: One of the best passives in the game. Deals huge damage to enemy champions. Makes Caitlyn's autos that much better at taking turrets. Headshot makes up for Caitlyn's lack of a steroid like Tristana's Rapid Fire.
  • Charge up Headshot while last hitting then hit the enemy for tons of damage
  • Headshot charges faster in the brushes


Piltover Peacemaker: Caitlyn's Q is a long range skill shot ability. Piltover Peacemaker acts as a strong wave clear and damage ability. Piltover Peacemaker has a large mana cost so watch your mana. This ability should be maxed first for its damage potential.

Tips and Tricks


Yordle Snap Trap: Yordle Snap Trap is a placed ability that puts down a trap which will stun an enemy once they step on it. The ability can be used offensively to zone an enemy, or defensively to protect yourself. Take an early point in Yordle Snap Trap to use it it set up early in brushes. One can have up to 3 Yordle Snap Traps out at once.

Tips and Tricks
  • Set up Yordle Snap Trap early in brushes to gain an even larger early advantage
  • Use Yordle Snap Trap to protect yourself from a flank during Sieges
  • An example of good placement comes from AD GOD Uzi in his game against OMG




90 Caliber Net: 90 Caliber Net is a skill shot ability and escape. 90 Caliber Net deals magic damage and slows the enemy upon hit. This ability is best used as an escape mechanism or to chase a fleeing foe. This ability should be maxed second an you should take a point early for its utility.

Tips and Tricks




Ace in the Hole: Ace in the Hole is a long range Ultimate ability where Caitlyn charges her gun and fires at the enemy. This is a create finisher ability but it can be blocked by other enemies so you can't get the kill. This abilities huge range makes it a massive threat in both early and late game.

Tips and Tricks
  • Use Ace in the Hole to get foes that are recalling behind the tower
  • Can be used as a great threat when approaching a siege on a tower

Items

Spawn On almost all marksmen you should start Doran's Blade and as of 3.14 you can take Health Potion and Warding Totem. A second Doran's Blade should be picked up for extra lifesteal in lane. A third, forth, and fifth can be picked up if you are Russian.
First back A good item for a first pickup, if you cannot afford it you should get Pickaxe or if you have to go back extremely early buy Boots of Speed or some Health Potions but try to avoid this.
First Core item After 4.10 Infinity Edge has become a very strong item and will allow Caitlyn to hit a huge power spike.
Early to Mid Game Zeal assists in Caitlyn's transition into mid game and gives her the attack speed and movement speed to better siege the mid game towers
Mid Game Last Whisper gives you a huge mid game advantage over most Caitlyn builds letting you get rid of huge tanks just as they start to get their armour in the mid game.
The First Choice At this point one has the choice to take a Quicksilver Sash. The Quicksilver Sash is a good choice if you feel threatened by abilities such as Pyromania or Shield of Daybreak.
The Zeal You have the choice here to either turn the Zeal into a Phantom Dancer which is best for damage output when you are ahead. You can also turn the Zeal into a Statikk Shiv which is better for early wave clear to keep your opponent from pushing.
Late Game A The Bloodthirster will grant great late game damage to you as well as a small shield. you can also turn the Quicksilver Sash into a Mercurial Scimitar for the extra damage late game.
Boots Take either Berserker's Greaves or Mercury's Treads if you are focused. For enchantment get either Enchantment: Furor or Enchantment: Homeguard
Situational You can pick up a Statikk Shiv to clear waves if you are behind. You can get a Frozen Mallet for the slowing affect if you opponents are a bit slippery. You can get a Banshee's Veil is you need protection from champions with cc skill shots like Light Binding or Dark Binding. You can get a Guardian Angel if you have troubles with Quicksilver Sash. Randuin's Omen is also a good attack speed slow against enemies.
