Introduction
Welcome to my first guide.My name is Jimiakos.I am playing this game since then end of season 4 in the EUNE sever.In season 4 i was under 30 lvl.When season 5 came i played my provisionals.Last season i ended atSILVER V.Right now i am GOLD V.I main Vel'koz for some months,i guess.I also have 77000 mastery points with level 6 mastery at the moment.About Vel'koz:Vel'koz is a burst/poke mage with aoe and true damage.He is immobile,which makes him invulnerable to champions with mobility.He is combo is deadly if every skillshot is landed right.Moreover his true damage from his passive makes him a perfect tool against tanks.I also want to say at this moment that this is my first guide,so please just ignore the goofs you will see in the following chapters of the guide.Enjoy!
Runes
3 M.RESIST BLUES WITH 6 CD BLUES
ARMOR YELLOWS
FULL M.RESIST BLUES
3 MOVE.SPEED QUINTS
In the case of full m.resist blues you can get Ionian boots for the cd
Items
Dodge abilities easier
Better wave clear
Better poke with Q
No mana early game
I personally take it first every time except against ad.(you can take zhonyas)
Boots
I always take sorcere's
If you dont have cd runes take ionian
Morellonomicon
Rush it always after those 2 items
You can take Lost Chapter before you get boots if you really need mana
Zhonyas/Rylais
Take rylais if they have many ways to get up on you
Zhonyas for extra armor against fed adcs
WHEN U TAKE RYLAIS TAKE ZHONYAS AFTER AND THE OPPOSITE
Deathcap
You always need a bit extra ap
Void Staff
Yes you have your passive that does true dmg and its anti-tank
BUT,IF THEY STACK M.RESIST EVEN IF THEY DONT HAVE TANKS TAKE THIS ITEM
Late game
Just buy elixir of sorcery
Skill Sequence
Before the rework ofVel'koz,i used to get Q first and max W first.Now i get Q first and max Q first.
People who will see this guide:THEN WHY DID YOU TELL US TO GET FIRST W IN THE SKILL SEQUENCE?
Because the godSp4zietold me toBut really now you should play 2 games with Vel'koz so you can try different techinques that you prefer.Sometimes guides aren't that accurate.
Try to find your personal preference.
Spells
Just remember that every spell is one triangle.To proc the passive you need 3 "triangles".If you manage to proc it,you dealTruedamage to your enemies,which comes handy when dealing with tanks
Q
You fire an "energy bolt" that slows enemies and deals magic damage.You can press again your Q just to split the "energy bolt" in two.When u kill a unit with your Q,you restore mana per target.If you kill 3 minions with one Q you get back the mana you spent.
W
You can store up to two Ws.Remember what did i say at the start?One ability,One "triangle".Forget that sh*t!Yes you get one triangle by landing it on someone but if your enemy is too stupid to stand there you get two "triangles" from one ability!
E
You hurl a circle that deals damage and suspends every enemy it hits 0.75 seconds.E is essential for your combo.E can be hard to master.But if u get an E and a W immediately after that you proc your passive.
R
You fire an "energy beam" that builds up stacks of your passive every 0.7 seconds.This ability is the best in Vel'koz's kit.
