Introduction

Brand is a easily mastered mage who can be played in both Mid and Support. He brings great team fight damage and in-lane pressure. He is considerably one of the best low Elo mages, as most lower Elo players don't go out of there way to ensure he can't do massive damage to their team. His scaling is amazing due to his passive Blaze making him a relevant threat all game. In support he is a huge pressure in lane when played right, He can force fights in his favor or have the enemy ADC and support running away in fear of a slow death. Brand can either transform into a full ap mage that will help carry fights or if your team is preforming well you can build utility to ensure they can keep doing a good job while still providing good damage.

Pros & Cons

A sick spacing line huh!
Pros:
+Aoe Damage
+CC with
+Easily Mastered
+Great Lane Pressure
+Hard to fall behind
+Can carry team fights
+Can Snowball

Cons:
-No mobility
-Damage can be situational
-Can be outplayed
-Easily focused
-Most damage is from skill-shots
-Might Steal kills
-Might want to steal kills

Compared to other supports Brand lacks some form of set up or sustain but, Brand brings AOE damage and a large team-fight presence to make up for it. Enemy teams are required to not group up or risk brand nuking them. Mid game his utility ramps up with Rylai's Crystal Scepter slowing the enemy team allowing for peel or helping to make a pick. Unlike other supports supports brand doesn't rely on items to bring in huge damage numbers. Most of his damage comes from his passive Blaze and Deathfire Touch , but brands largest spike is arguably Liandry's Torment allowing him to either scare away an enemy or slowly burn them down.

Abilities

Passive: Blaze

Blaze gives Brand's skills a debuff causing targets to take 2% max health damage on hit and if he manages to hit a target 3 times in a short span of time they will explode after a delay causing 12%-15% max health damage.

Q: Sear

Sear is A skill-shot fireball that does magic damage to the first target it hits.
-If the target is already ablaze they are stunned for 1.5 seconds.

W: Pillar of Flame

Pillar of Flame is a AOE circle that will explode after 0.625 seconds dealing magic damage.
-If the target is already ablaze they take 25% more damage.

E: Conflagration

Conflagration is A point and click skill that deals magic damage.
-If the target is already ablaze it will spread to targets around the main target.

R: Pyroclasm

Pyroclasm is A point and click fireball that will deal magic damage and bounce between enemy up to for times. The fire ball will always attempt to reach 3 stacks on targets.
-If the target is already ablaze they will be slowed.

Note: I will be going over how to use these skills to greater affect in combos.

Items

Item Sequence

Rylai's Crystal Scepter 2600
Ionian Boots of Lucidity 950
Eye of the Watchers 0
Liandry's Torment 3000
Redemption 2300
Zhonya's Hourglass 3250

Rylai's Crystal Scepter is another one of Brand's power spikes. It gives a fair amount of damage and even greater utility. In team fights your AOEs are even more dangerous as they soft CC targets temporary. Rylai's Crystal Scepter also helps you peel for your team so consider buying this before Liandry's Torment if you need the peel early.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity is what I normally get for boots. I find that having my stun up more often will help in the middle of fights. I consider the cooldown invaluable as it provides more utility within your kit and gives you more chances to land skills in fights.

Eye of the Watchers is a great item overall as it gives gold to you for poking along with providing vision. Compared to Frost Queen's Claim I prefer the eye because it only takes one item slot. Feel free to take Frost Queen's Claim and Ruby Sightstone if you prefer it instead for scouting and item activation cooldown.

Liandry's Torment is a huge spike in Brand's damage and will help him burn any target along with Blaze. I normally will pick up my Eye of the Watchers some sustain like Faerie Charm's then start to build Liandry's.

Currently all supports can abuse Redemption and it's ability to largely dictate how teamfights pan out. Though brand can't use the healing increase the activatible and health is very useful.

Zhonya's Hourglass should be one of the last few items you buy due to you needing the early utility and damage instead of survivablity. This item varies in usefulness depending on the enemy comp. This item is most useful when the enemy is mostly assassins or dive picks who will look to one shot squishys like brand.

Remember all items are situational and you may find yourself using something other than what's in this guide. When you are buying just make sure to consider what the use of the item is against your opponents and if other items could do the job better or not.

Runes

This rune setup is to provide some early survival and damage. Greater Mark of Magic Penetration and Greater Quintessence of Ability Power are for your early poke giving greater damage. Greater Seal of Armor and Greater Glyph of Magic Resist are both to help you survive poke in lane as most supports will attempt to trade with you. Finally Greater Glyph of Mana Regeneration is for mana sustain that I feel like Brand really needs to get through lane. If you feel that you don't require them consider either more Magic Resist or Ap runes.

Masteries

Explanation

This mastery page will give you a great balance between in lane damage and sustain. Deathfire Touch works amazing with Brand's passive Blaze allowing for great damage and other skills like Sorcery and Piercing Thoughts to help you scale in the damage department. All of the other masteries in the Cunning tree are there to help you with sustain such as Secret Stash and Meditation . Consider looking it over and changing it as you see fit as some people consider having Thunderlord's Decree more useful and you might too.

Is this the best Mastery page?

If you want the best page for Brand it's all up to preference instead of raw stats. Due to the nature of how each player will play different consider trying a few other masteries pages and seeing what you find to work for you. Once you do find what works, you can know for sure that it's the best page.

Combos

Brand's damage is all based on what combo he chooses. I'll go over the main combos that you might find yourself using in games. If you do choose to skip over this just remember always use your skills on a target affected by Blaze and you'll do just fine!

Poke against passive players:

yess >yess

Note: This is your bread and butter of trading in lane against players who are behind creep. W- Pillar of Flame near them and get a creep inside it. Once they return after trying to dodge... E- Conflagration the minion that is a Blaze and get some free poke.

Pick combo:

yess >yess yess >yess

Note: It's rare you can actually pull this off. But if you manage to do this it's huge early pressure. It's all based on if they are near creep because if they are you might miss your q making the combo null and void. You can swap your w and e in the combo depeneding on what you feel comfortable using when.

Quick All in:

yess >yess yess >yess

Note: This is your all in and if you don't have time to set up. Be sure to let your W- Pillar of Flame fully cast then use your e on a target affected by your passive. The reason you don't use Q- Sear is it will be what you use to peel for your team or to make a pick.

Max Damage:

yess >yess yess >yess yess >yess

Note: This is the hardest to pull off and can reward you greatly with huge damage to grouped enemies. Q- Sear a preferable in the center then E- Conflagration them so that your W- Pillar of Flame will deal 25% more damage then use R- Pyroclasm allowing it to proc as many passive- Blazebombs as possible.

Closer

That's I have to share as of this moment! I'll be sure to update this guide as brand does change and attempt to add more info if I do find anything else to add. Feel free to add some ideas / constructive criticism! I'm always open to suggestions regardless of what they are. I still plan on adding things to this guide such as a Game play sections specifying brands job throughout the game and warding/pressure guides including with this guide. Also I need to add better visuals when I find out how to. Big thanks to Jhoijhoi's guide on making a guide Great tips and amazing explanation of how guides should go. K-bye.
