Hey! I'm Whobick-Old In-Game (New In-Game is MuLTiKaiSeR). I currently have Mastery 5 for Evelynn. I know how to play Evelynn very well, in many different positions. I focus on jungle Evelynn! In my opinion, Evelynn is the best jungler in the game due to her strong kit! I added an AP build to my guide, as update 6.9 brought new possibilities to the way Evelynn can be played. I won't be going in detail for the build (at least for a while) but thought that I would give it to you as a possibility if your team is strong with AD. Here are the results of my first game with the new abilities:



They allow for great movement from Evelynn and allow her to surprise enemies better, rather than them seeing the "!" half a second before you attack. This allows Evelynn to be more dangerous, as she can instantly jump onto someone (much like Rengar) and carry out a full combo to secure kills. Just another option as I am trying to help you!

Lore


Evelynn's origins are shrouded in mystery - a mystery she herself helps to perpetuate. What everyone does know about Evelynn, however, is that she is one of the most skilled assassins in Valoran. It is clear upon first meeting her that she is not quite human. Some theorize that she was cursed with a mild form of fantastical vampirism as a child. Supporters of this theory contend that her ability to sap the very life essence of her opponents on (and off) the Fields of Justice, while still being able to tolerate direct sunlight, would account for this belief. There is some evidence that Evelynn originally came from the Shadow Isles - the mysterious island located northwest of Valoran that is eternally blanketed by a thick, unnatural fog. It is thought that the Shadow Isles are home to countless forms of undead, though no one seems eager to perform the exploration necessary to find out the truth. Evelynn neither confirms nor denies her connection to Shadow Isles.

The power brokers of Valoran know that Evelynn's services come at the highest of premiums, and her recent addition to the League of Legends indicates that her ambitions are growing. Her savagery on the Fields of Justice has been so great that new rumors about her origins are now circulating. The most popular one - an abuse of magic as a child morphed her into the hungering beast her opponents see on the battlefield - always makes her smile when hearing it... an act which bares her razor-sharp fangs and teeth. Evelynn now curries favor from League summoners, gaining influence for reasons known only to her. While the nature of her plans- much like almost everything else about her - remains unknown, there's little doubt that those plans are now set on the world stage.

Pros:


-Amazing late game if fed! Can carry feeding teams while split pushing with invisibility!

-Invisibility! Evelynn can use this to easily gank, explore enemy jungle camps, and even trick laners to think that she is leaving. That is one of my favorite parts about Evelynn because it makes her special!

-Has a good kit! Hate Spike allows for spamming, while Dark Frenzy can be used to escape any slows. Agony's Embrace is an area slow/shield, and Ravage is pretty much an instakill mid game.





Cons:


-Has no gap closer. Must rely on surprise to catch up with enemies. Only has a slow and a speed boost, but no CC ability.

-Larger range for error (both when being invisible and play style). After Riot decided to boost the range that you could see Evelynn, it has become much harder to carryout the many tricks used before.

-Hard early game. Evelynn relies on a good early game, which doesn't help since she isn't tanky. We fix this by building tanky early/mid game, while building AD and ganking often.

Flash

I use Flash to either catch enemies, commit to a fight, or run. This can be used to catch someone by flashing towards them, then using Dark Frenzy (W) to speed up, Agony's Embrace (R) to slow them, and then spamming Hate Spike (Q) and Ravage (E). I use Flash while ganking a lane to quickly assault someone. If the team is losing a fight, or I am being chased, Flash can be a terrible tool against enemies (in a good way). Just look to see how much time is left in until your passive kicks in and BAM!, 1 second left, flash over a wall and you are invisible and impossible to follow.





Smite

Smite is a given. You need this as a jungler, and it allows you to later get Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior so you can take reduced damage from a champion. Smite monsters to stay alive and yeah, if you play jungle, you should know what this is. One reason I later get Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior is that Evelynn is some what squishy, so this allows you to smite the enemy carry or other fed champions in order to survive.

Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior

Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior is easily the best jungler item for this build. Evelynn is great at 1v1'ing, so this makes it even easier for us to win fights. In teamfights, make sure to always Smite the enemy carry or the most fed player on the team. This reduces the damage dealt to you by that champion by 20%. I always get this first since you are the jungler. Make sure to Smite your first jungle camp too, no matter where you start!




Titanic Hydra

Titanic Hydra is a great item for Evelynn. It gives her some tanky stats while also making her extremely deadly. The best part about this item is the area affect, which works well with Ravage (E). The double hit effect works with Titanic Hydra, and the attack speed boost following also helps. This is great for team fights too because it allows you to hit many enemies while aiming one. I prefer this item over Ravenous Hydra because Evelynn needs tanky stats to survive mid game, and this item does the job.




Edge of Night

The new god item. This is amazing on Evelynn! The cooldown is so low that you can jsut use it before running up to gank. Then as soon as you go in they most likely will blow their stun and you are home free throwing everything that you got at them.





Trinity Force

With changes in 6.11, Trinity Force now became a perfect item for Evelynn. The passive is perfect since we are building ad and have really small cooldowns with Hate Spike (Q). We didn't need critical strike so when that was removed it just helped us, and the attack speed increased to 40%, making this item perfect for the build. This can be switched out for other items but I now wouldn't recommend it!




The rest of your build should depend on what the other team consists of. Many builds tell you exactly what to build, and most people follow that to a "T". This is why so many people don't do well with certain builds. You have to build according to what the other team consists of to be successful. Building magic resist against AP champions and health and armor against AD champions can win you games. Be smart and don't be afraid to buy an item you think may or may not work just to try it!

Ability Sequence

I start the game with Hate Spike (Q). This is Evelynn's key ability and what makes her so good. This ability has the shorted cooldown on the game. I start with this to clear gromp, and then level up Ravage (E) next so increased damage against blue buff. You always want to max Hate Spike (Q) as quick as possible, and then Ravage (E) next. Ravage (E) can do an insane amount of damage late game. Use Hate Spike (Q) and Ravage (E) as your combo for every fight. Spam these two abilities as much as you can! We get Dark Frenzy (W) third allowing us to flee from fights and stop crowd control quickly. There is no point in worrying about this until late game. Dark Frenzy (W) can be nice to flee, or to escape from slows, so be smart when you use this ability. Your ultimate, Agony's Embrace (R) is great when starting team fights. Upgrade this ability every time you get the chance. Use it when you get it because it has a relatively short cooldown!



Shadow Walk (Passive)
When out of combat, Evelynn enters stealth only being able to be seen by nearby enemy champions or true sight. While stealthed, she rapidly regenerates Mana.



Hate Spike (Q)
COST: 12/18/24/30/36 Mana RANGE: 500

Evelynn fires a line of spikes through an enemy, dealing damage to all enemies in its path.

Evelynn fires a line of spikes through a nearby enemy dealing 40/50/60/70/80 (+0) (+40% bonus Attack Damage) magic damage to all enemies in its path. Hate Spike prioritizes the target Evelynn is attacking.





Dark Frenzy (W)
COST: No Cost RANGE: Self

Evelynn passively increases her Movement Speed when hitting enemy champions with her spells. Upon activation, Evelynn breaks free from slows affecting her and gains a massive Movement Speed boost for a short duration.

Active: Evelynn removes all slows affecting her and gains 30/40/50/60/70% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
Passive: Evelynn's spell hits on enemy champions reduce Dark Frenzy's cooldown by 1 second. Champion kills and assists refresh Dark Frenzy's cooldown.





Ravage (E)
COST: 50/55/60/65/70 Mana RANGE: 225

Evelynn slashes her target twice, dealing damage with each hit. She then gains increased Attack Speed for a short duration.

Evelynn swiftly attacks a target 2 times (applies on-hit effects), dealing a total of 70/110/150/190/230 (+100% Ability Power) (+40% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage. Evelynn then gains 60/75/90/105/120% Attack Speed for 3 seconds.





Agony's Embrace (R)
COST: 100 Mana RANGE: 650

Evelynn summons spikes from the ground to deal damage and slow enemies in the area. She then gains a shield based on how many enemy champions were hit.

Evelynn impales all enemies in the targeted area, dealing 15/20/25 (+1% Ability Power)% of their current Health in magic damage and slowing their Movement Speed by 40/60/80% for 2 seconds. Evelynn siphons their pain, gaining a 150/225/300 health shield for each enemy champion hit which lasts up to 6 seconds.

To Farm or not to Farm. My favorite quote from Hamlet...at least I think that is how it went. But seriously, this question always gets me. I was always asked this on my other guide, so I want to make it clear. Farm, Farm, Farm. Evelynn is great at farming because of Hate Spike (Q) and Titanic Hydra with Ravage (E). I usually clear one side of the jungle, and then gank lanes. After I feel like I have enough gold, or I don't have enough health to gank again, I go back and farm. Farming is key for a jungler because it results in buffs and gold to help late game and during fights. Make sure you farm with Evelynn!

Jungle Route


I always start at Gromp! I usually smite it right when it spawns, and then go to Blue Buff, popping a health pot right as I go in, receiving that increased healing. At this point, after killing Blue Buff, you should have around 100 health and Smite shouldn't be up for about 10 more seconds. I then go to Rift Herald (or Dragon depending on what side) and wait for Scuttle to spawn. As I first start to attack Scuttle, I use another health pot for that increased healing. I kill Scuttle to get some vision, and then go back to Wolves with Smite up, killing them while smiting to get more vision, and then backing. Sometimes if I have enough health, I gank before Wolves. I usually go top or mid due to the fact that most laners push really hard early if they are ahead or counter. I then follow the regular jungle path the rest of the game, keeping wards in my jungle, while using my perfect passive to scout out and ward the enemy jungle too. Follow this path for a successful game!





IMPORTANT TRICK!

Because of Evelynn's passive, you can use the Baron buff to boost minions while staying invisible. This can be very useful when your team occupies mid lane or stalls! You can remain invisible while following behind minions, transferring Baron buff, allowing you to push and destroy lanes extremely quick! This is great because you aren't shown on the mini-map, so most players leave minion lanes alone, allowing you to push freely.

Evelynn is amazing in every way. She may not have a gap closer, but makes up for it in every aspect possible. With the build I have selected, she can destroy enemies while remaining tanky enough to survive unlike most AP builds. In this section I will be explaining why each of Evelynn's abilities are amazing, and how you can use them to your advantage.



Shadow Walk (Passive) is one of the best passives in the game in my opinion. It allows Evelynn to remain invisible unless she attacks, or is in range of others. This passive can be used to do about everything. Need to sneak up on someone, done. Need to escape, done. Need to scout, done. Two things that I love doing with the passive is remaining invisible while recalling, and doing funny little Flash escapes. When you recall, you become invisible after 3 seconds so it allows you to remain invisible; rarely cancelling recall. Another trick is escaping with Flash. As you run away, keep an eye on your Shadow Walk (Passive), so when it has around 1 second, Flash over a wall and become invisible as you run. It's perfect for escapes! Just make sure you never let others in the range or else they will easily see you. Use this invisibility to your advantage as you are the only champion that is permanently invisible.



Hate Spike (Q) may be the most hated ability in the game! So make sure to annoy others!!! Just kidding, but seriously spam that baby like it's nothing. This ability is perfect for chasing because it automatically goes for the person you are attacking (no skillshot) and allows you to attack while chasing because there is no stop animation. This doesn't do as much damage as it would if we built AP, but still does a significant amount.



Dark Frenzy (W) is a great ability for escaping. It stops all "movement impairing" abilities, so use it wisely! For example, if Volibear is chasing you, wait for him to use his E (slow) and then use Dark Frenzy (W) to escape. Don't start with it to get away. As you play Evelynn more, you will get a better feel for using it. I love this ability because I can't count how many times I have been able to escape with only 30 health or less. Use this ability to escape and use it wisely!



Ravage (E) is our main source of damage in this build. With Thunderlord's Decree , Ravage (E), and Titanic Hydra, you can surprise people with 1 hit and get them to half health. This ability works great with Titanic Hydra because it procs with both hits. This does lots of damage with the build too! Use it when you start the fight and then spam it whenever you can!



Agony's Embrace (R) has so many uses! I usually use it start a teamfight, moving in behind everyone with our passive. It does an extreme amount of damage while giving Evelynn a "blood" shield. Use it wisely though! I also use it to catch up with others in fights because it has a relatively short cooldown. Try to hit everyone with it when you do use it, because it does the most damage and gives you a larger shield. Once again, your use for this ability will improve as you continue to play Evelynn.

Evelynn may be the best at ganking because she has a bait for slows, which she can disable with Dark Frenzy (W), and she has a large area slow. It is really easy to gank as well because of Shadow Walk (Passive). Gank as much as possible, as that is the whole point of being a jungler. Get other players fed so you can focus on farming. Also make sure to surround the enemies, using Shadow Walk (Passive) to your advantage. Use Agony's Embrace (R) to engage the fight, causing commotion while spamming Hate Spike (Q) and Ravage (E) to hit as many champions as you can. Your job is to kill the enemy ADC, while chasing down escaping enemies. Doing this allows your team to focus on others to easily win the fight.
