As I'm sure the other 200 comments have said, thanks for making this guide! It seems like a lot of time, effort, and knowledge was poured into making it, and your guide helped me out a lot. And I should also say thank you for your Miss Fortune guide as well, as that one also helped me out a bunch when I was trying out ADCs. So thank you, twice! Or how many ever times I said it. Close enough.

Well, I'm back here again. First game went smoothly, got an S and immediately got level 2 mastery for Janna. I was like, "Woooooah the power of Janna is real." Then every game that followed... let's just say they weren't so good. So I hope it's ok if I ask some questions. :<

Last game, I accidentally ult'ed (ultd? ulted? ult'd?) an enemy to saftey. If I were trying to get better at using Monsoon, how should I go about it? Is it just a matter of practicing a bunch until I one day see where I'm going wrong or is there a simple answer? Perhaps a mix of the two?

This second question, I'm not sure how to even word. If I were to play someone like Morgana, I would just bind someone who's out of place and throw down a Tormented Soil underneath them/auto them and it would help out the ADC a bunch. That champion has less health so they either back up or I find an opening again for my q and we go in and kill them. With Janna it just seems like... there are times where I'm just sitting around and just shielding my ADC and me because Zephyr doesn't do much damage, and I can't land a Howling Gale just yet. So is shielding them the right thing to do or am I just sitting around being useless? As Janna I can't seem to figure out what to really be doing.

Very nice explanation, your build makes sense even though it doesn't fit my playstyle, I'm more AP-oriented. You can take a quick look at my Janna guide if you want further information about this.

PS : jhoijhoi's graphics are perfect, she's perfect <3

you mean graphics? they are perfect indeed. And our builds are fairly similar, I like getting Luden's occasionally myself for the luls. Good luck with your guide and in your games fellow Janna player :>

Yeah, I was talking about the graphics, it was pretty rough for me but I made it.
Yeah it's pretty much alike. I sell my boots for Luden when I'm FB, it's just so fun haha.
Thanks :D

Hi again!

If your positioning is bad, you will have issues with Janna and indeed any squishy support/champion. However, rather than avoid this, Janna might be a good champion with which to learn how to position better, since she's got great peel and is overall a very safe champion.

In laning phase, you don't want to be too close to the enemy, especially if it's a kill lane like Leona, Blitz, Thresh. But you can't sit too far from your ADC because you need to be close enough to be able to peel for him if he gets engaged on. Always be within your E range of course so you are always ready to negate damage or boost his trades. Usually in lane you'll be in brush a lot, so I suggest standing in parallel more or less with your ADC, at E range, in the bush.

In teamfights, you will probably want to be around the backline, usually right next to your ADC so you can peel for him easily, but still in E range of your other allies.

Where your safe zone is will depend on the enemy champion(s). If you're against someone like Zed, you'd need to be quite far away to be safe since he can cast a shadow and close in on you if you're within shadow range. If you're against a Lee, stay further from his Q range etc.

If you do get caught out of place, Janna's pretty slippery considering her high movement speed, all her CC and flash so you might not die anyway.

---

Janna's considered an enchanter or utility support. Your role is similar to Soraka's or Nami's. You don't really do damage on your own, but you boost your allies' survivability and damage. In other words, you can stop your allies from doing dumb stuff by saving them with your CC/shielding/ult. She's good in low elo, as are Nami and Lulu too.

---

Janna's strong against Leona, Alistar, and other melee engagers because she has really strong disengage. She's weak against high-burst supports who won't give her enough time to disengage properly or ones that abuse her immobility - Brand, Zyra, Blitzcrank.

But what would you recommend as sixth item? :)
1
[-]
MissMaw (721) | June 3, 2017 10:23am
The last item is purely situational. Mikael's Crucible is good against enemy teams with a lot of CC. Zeke's Harbinger, Knight's Vow and Frozen Heart are good against AD teams. Frozen Heart is good in particular if the enemy team has 2 or more AS or AA reliant champions (like Vayne for example or Kog'Maw). Randuin's Omen can also be a good choice since it makes you a lot tankier, and the active is really good for peel. So if they have a really sticky bruiser that's a good thing to buy vs them since it'll make it possible/easier for your ADC to kite them (Jax, Irelia, Darius, etc). Banshee's Veil is an option too if you're against something like Blitzcrank or Lux.

Also if you get Talisman of Ascension, that + Ruby Sightstone and your core build make up a full item build too. :)

a noob's question:
Why don't we take the scaling Ability power?
Do the ability power is usefull just in early game?
Or is it usefull for the shield on your adc?
PS:Sorry if my english is not very good

[-]
MissMaw (721) | April 10, 2017 1:20pm
Janna simply doesn't benefit much from AP because her AP scalings are very low. Meaning, even if she built a lot of AP she still wouldn't deal a lot of damage. It is indeed namely bought to strengthen her shield. You'd need to invest a lot of money for her Q or W to deal any substantial amount of damage, and since she is a support and has low income, it's neither worth it nor feasible.

Having AP glyphs is alright because a little bit of AP, especially early game, can be beneficial as you'll be able to tell the difference. Later on, so if you had scaling AP glyphs, enemies will be tankier and the difference will not be as noticeable.

You could invest a lot of money for AP items and runes and etc to make her E and R improve, as these are the only two that really do improve when you buy AP, however it's smarter to invest the money in different utility items such as Redemption or Solari, as these will be more beneficial in the long run than an extra 10 AD on your shield or 100 on your heal.
