Who is this Yasuo main filth?

I reached diamond, so I'm better than you. Therefore, listen to my advice, and you will (maybe?) git gud.

This is also my first guide, so it's trash. I can't do the fancy text and all that. Well, I could, but I'm lazy. :)

Why play Yasuo?

Although this is much more effective in low elo (bronze - low plat), it tilts the enemy whenever you kill them. However, dying will also tilt your team, so don't die. He's also the most enjoyable champion among the ResidentSleeper tanks and control mages.

He's not good for climbing though - inconsistent, only he was meta was tanksuo, banned in low elos, and is at best B tier (middle of the pack).

"Wow, I have the best Yasuo mechanics!" - Bronze V

*I did NOT name these

Beyblade:
EQ-Flash

Airblade:
Q-EQ-R, or if an enemy is already airborne, EQ-R

Keyblade:
EQ-Flash-AA-EQ-R

Note: sufficient attack speed is required for airblades and keyblades. For more information, there are many videos on Youtube to learn from. Just know that these exist if you don't care.

"I dashed through a wall, although that's physically impossible!"

You can dash through walls. More mechanics = more failure.
Look it up on Youtube - it helps.

Masteries

Warlord's Bloodlust vs Fervor of Battle

The new Warlord's is complete garbage - barely anyone takes it. The movement speed isn't very useful since we could simply use E, and the life steal is very negligible.

Fervor has remained the dominant keystone of the two since Warlord's was changed from being broken on crit champs to an ADC exclusive keystone. Fervor scales extremely well, despite being relevant early game. Since Fervor was changed to give extra AD instead of extra on-hit damage, Yasuo has been abusing Fervor even more than before, as it can now crit!

Runic Armor vs Veteran's Scars

Early Game - Runic Armor < Veteran's Scars
Rest of the Game - Runic Armor > Veteran's Scars

To me, masteries are meant to help in the laning phase, especially on Yasuo, who can snowball an entire game is done correctly/the enemy is low elo.

Runes

Attack Speed Marks: attack speed is the most important stat for Yasuo to do any damage, as it reduces Q's cd. It is important to have the extra attack speed because building Berserker's Greaves would mean giving up the valuable defensive stats Ninja Tabi and Mercury's Treads offer. Also, you need high cdr on your Q to do those "Wow, my Yasuo is really good" mechanics (keyblade, airblade, etc).

Armor Seals: no matter what, you will eat auto attacks from champions, monsters, creeps, towers, etc. Since seals have the most armor, it gives you the best bang for your buck.

Magic Resist Glyphs: glyphs offer ap, cdr, and other mage things. For Yasuo, the only thing viable is really mr, so use it.

Attack Speed Quintessences: same reason for attack speed marks. Especially after the attack speed nerf, Yasuo desperately needs the 29% attack speed from runes.

Anything else is probably garbage.

Summoner Spells

Always take flash, since it lets you make those FLASHy (I'm not sorry) plays. Lets you escape ganks so you don't die as often, and get reported for inting.

Ignite gives you much needed kill pressure - very useful for level 6 all ins.

Whenever you need to survive burst, such as when you're against assassins and malz, exhaust is better than ignite in almost every way.

This is a mid lane guide, not a top lane guide.

Skill Sequence

In case you missed my notes, E may be taken at level 1 against ranged champs that have a weak level 1, such as Lux.

For those wondering why I alternate between Q and E is because E's damage was nerfed. Since Yasuo lacks mobility without multiple points into E, many Yasuo mains have begun to alternate between the two, including NA Challenger Yassuo/M03/Zayn Moelik.

Items

Starting Items
Doran's Blade is the best. Don't build anything else with the exception of Doran's Shield vs Pantheon. If you build brawler's/dagger/long sword in my game, I will report you. :)

Phantom Dancer
Rushing PD is the best option in most scenarios, with the exceptions being hexdrinker vs certain champs. PD gives you all the attack speed you need (if you have my runes and masteries), 60% crit chance, speed, and dmg reduction in duels. Amazing item in a solo lane.

Infinity Edge
Gives you the other 40% crit chance, and just high amounts of damage - your biggest power spike.

Life Steal Items
Blade of the Ruined King - Since 7.5, BoRK was changed to give more AD and life steal, less attack speed, and its active is now a flat 100 magic damage. Before the change, BoRK gave much more attack speed than needed on Yasuo, wasting a good portion of the 3K+ gold. Now, the stats are almost perfect, allowing Yasuo to cap out on Q CDR before late game. Great against tanky champs.

Mercurial Scimitar - Yasuo is very prone to CC, as most squishy champs. To avoid dying during a team fight in a few seconds, Scimitar is a great item to ignore the tanks' CC and kill the back line. The MR is nice as well, but it gives the least amount of life steal.

Bloodthirster - Of the three life steal items, Bloodthirster offers the highest attack and lifesteal, on top of a shield. Combined with Yasuo's passive, you're now able to survive longer than most would expect. Get it for raw damage and the shield.

Defensive Items
Maw of Malmortius - This item is only viable vs heavy AP comps. Even if you bought a hexdrinker in lane vs that Akali, who is the only source of magic damage, sell the hexdrinker and build something more useful. Like a GA.

Guardian's Angel - GA is the best late game item, due to its broken passive. A must have for a melee ADC that will be diving the back line.

Frozen Mallet - Although its popularity has decreased greatly since Tanksuo, FM is still viable for the high amounts of hp it offers that can be much needed in certain situations.

Boots
Ninja Tabi - On top of 30 armor, it also gives 12% dmg reduction from autos. Combined with PD, you become a very powerful duelist. Get it vs heavy AD.

Mercury's Treads - Merc Treads offer MR and Tenacity. Get it against heavy CC and AP, as it was meant to be.

Wards
Upgrade your damn trinket and buy control wards.

How to Git Gud (Laning)

Although the way you play a lane heavily depends on the match up, the general idea is to trade whenever you're at your strongest, meaning your passive is up, q is stacked, and all your cool downs are up. There are times when you may win a trade without your stacks, passive, etc, but that comes with experience with the game, and seeing as how you're reading a mobafire guide, I'm assuming you have no idea what Yasuo does.
