Introduction

Sion is one of the most versatile characters in the game. With the new masteries system he's even more so. Many people play Sion as an AP character, but after the recent nerf I've been focussing on AD. First thing you should know about Sion now matter what build you use is HE HITS HARD! So damage is never really a problem with him, expecially after you get a few levels in enrage. My build will focus more on keeping him alive than damage, because damage will come in the process.

Items

This section varies greatly based on the situation. The core build is Berserker Boots, Starks Fervor, and Youmuu's Ghostblade. You can go Phantom Dancer and Infinity edge for massive crit or go Hextech Gunblade and Lich Bane to have AP as well. Either way the Stark's Fervor is extremely helpful to both you and your team. The Youmuu is great for it's active when running down a foe or combined with Cannibalism and Surge to take down turrets/dragon/baron super fast!

Masteries

Starting with my masteries I go 23-7-0. Notice I take Vampirism instead of building towards Lethality. The critical % is nice but I find Sion's early game to be risky due to the health expense cause by enrage, so that early game lifesteal helps offset that. If you build an Infinity edge or Phantom Dancer, you usually have more than enough crit. I choose Durability over Vigor, because I see more of an impact throughout the game.

Runes

My runes are set up to solo just about anyone. Good health and resistance, armor penetration, and a little speed to catch up. If however you're more comfortably taking risks you can go mana regen seals and cooldown reduction. I find that playing sion tends make me the enemies focuss, so I choose sustainability.

Skill Sequence

Not much to be said about skills except Death's Caress can be used defensively quite well. I turn in on to initiate and to absorb monster or turret damage. It's as much a life saver as a ender!

Summoner Spells

I choose Surge and Ignite, but if you're weary of playing without an escape spell go flash and Surge. I say Surge for your ability to quickly kite turrets and jungle.

Farming

Be patient in the begining and last hit, if you are laning with someone like Taric or Sona you can afford to be pushy. Otherwise stay behind the minions. Last hitting isn't too bad because of the damage, but watch your timing as you increase attack speed. I try to focus the melee minions and the cannon minion since they are worth more gold that way I come out ahead.
