Introduction

Hello there! Thank you for reading this very legit non-trolling guide on AD Sona. Many many people think that I am trolling when I get into a game and I say I'm AD but their attitudes chance once I get first blood and start doing really well in my lane.

Runes

3x Greater Quintessence of Strength
9x Greater Mark of Desolation
9x Greater Seal of Clarity
9x Greater Glyph of Shielding

Strength Quint- These Quints make your early game much better, and later on go well with sheen as it gives you the 150% damage increase for 1 burst attack.

Mark of Desolation- Obviously the best for any AD carry, with runes and mysteries you will have 16 Armor penn right off the bat, this helps you get first blood easily.

Greater seal of Clarity- Sonas spells are very cheap, but she still needs some sort of built in mana regeneration to keep her going. If she has this setup paired with chalice she cannot run out of mana past lvl 13, and becomes even stronger as she reaches lvl 18 for sure.

Greater Glyph of Shielding- I run these runes because I cant stand how much damage casters have. With this setup, you will have over 100 MR (from Chalice and boots) and when you press W should reach as high as 135 MR which is easily around 60% Magic damage reduction. You can survive any insane burst caster there is.

Masteries

I feel that AD Sona gets the most out mysteries by going 21 9 0. I have tried many other setups, but it is definitely noticeably better running these mysteries, they will help you through the game not just to help you get first blood.

In the mastery tree I grab as much as I can as you can see, but one thing I will say is the Attack speed mastery is useless, so only put 2 points into it just so you can go further down the tree. AD Sona is all about burst damage with 1 attack, attack speed for the most part is useless on her.

Finally in the defense tree I grab the 6 MR and the 6 Armor because it simply makes her early game much better being that little bit more tanky. Then I grab the Strength of Spirit because, once again this mastery greatly helps out your early game. That little bit of health regen helps her sit back and regenerate if she took almost fatal damage.

Items

Items!

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS Grab a Dorans blade first. Sona suffers from low HP syndrome and this greatly fixes it will help you throughout the rest of the game. I mostly buy it for the extra health and damage I could care less about the life leech. You should have 550 HP if you buy this item.

By level 5-6 or when you have around 980 gold, go back to base, and buy a Chalice of Harmony. This item will help make you tankier and will greatly help your mana problems and fix them completely once your reach around level 9ish when you really really start to shine.

The next priority on your list is boots, Above I listed Mercury Treads but I usually buy whatever will help me survive in a battle. Another viable choice is Ninja Tabi because Sonas base armor is pretty low, but also these boots are cheaper than Mercury treads so it may help you reach your next item faster. Basically I buy whatever it is I am trying to counteract.

The next item is without question, Sheen. With this key item this is what makes you do upwards of 700 damage in 1 auto attack with your Q and sheen passive ability. By now your are fully setup for wrecking people and they will fear you, trust me. I have zoned vlads, kennens, Oriannas, vaynes, Cailyn (if they are stupid and get too close), you name it.

The next item could go 2 different ways, if you want more survivability and damage go with a Phage, or pick a Zeal for movement speed if they keep getting away. Either way these all build into Trinity Force, and once you have that you know you are on a roll.

If the game keeps going on and you have more than 150 CS, you can probably afford infinity Edge and its greatly recommended you take this item over most others. I have tried black cleaver and it also works well but AD sona is all about Brust damage. With Black Cleaver you have to hit them 3 times in order for you to do maximum damage which also works, but more than likely they will run away after the first 1-2 hits then wait for the stacks to fall off. Brust damage > Damage ramping up remember this.

Buy flasks if you are still ****ting money left and right,

Skill Sequence

Max out Hymn of Valor first, this is your priority and if you don't you will lack damage at level 9 it should be level 5. Hymn of Preservation is next, followed by the movement speed song and obviously taking your ultimate whenever you can.

Summoner Spells

Exhaust I find is probably the best tool for her, it cant really help you kill that unsuspecting person who is trying to get away, and with this spec they will lose 10 armor and magic resistance, plus last the extra .5 seconds.

Ignite also works I guess, but I greatly prefer Exhaust for the slow and the reduced resistances for them. Plus if someone comes at you with their ultimate, you can throw Exhaust on them and it will negate most of the damage for you giving you control of the battlefield easily. Ignite only helps you finish people off and trust me you will be doing a lot of damage with AD sona. Damage usually isn't a problem.

Pros / Cons

Pros

-Amazing Burst damage
-People dont expect Sona doing damage at all, giving you the edge for many opportunities
-Supports her team greatly while doing the AD carry roll.

Cons
-Does not have the fastest auto attack animation, for this reason a solo lane or a support buddy is highly recommended. If you dont, the true AD carries can out farm you easily, and you will be no good to your team.

Farming

As mentioned above, a solo lane is recommended, or a support buddy. It is possible to lane with someone who isn't a support but they have to let you have some farm as well. If they take everything for themselves you will suck late game for sure.

Summary

For the most part when someone is trying to attack you, just press W, then E to run away. Make sure you play your songs in the right order so you can hit with Q. Q is what will do damage to them it chunks squishies around 40% of their health easily.

I am also aware there is another AD sona guide here on MOBAFIRE, I looked it over and disliked it greatly because it does not run flash, or exhaust and RNG is its enemy running the crit runes and such. My build gives you reliable damage every time to make sure you get a kill.

I hope you have as much fun with AD sona as I do! See you on the Fields of Justice!!
