When playing Leona, enemy wards are useless if planted next to you because of the combo of Basic attack/Q/Basic attack which will destroy the ward. with a rather short cool down on the stun (q) this becomes worth it since you gain 30 gold. for the most part the only gold you will get is from wards assists and the odd accidental kill that occasionally happens when securing a kill.
Getting an early Oracles with Leona is a must because after level 7 or 8 Leona can do a lot of roaming with the carry and its better to get rid of pesky wards.
