Introduction to Ahri - The Nine Tailed Fox

-Come here big boy!
Ahri is a foxy caster/assassin with a decent amount of mobility. She specializes in picking up low HP targets and TURNING AROUND CHASES. She is one of the only champions with a taunt that makes the target stop attacking, also slowing them. In this guide I will tell you how to release the beast out of this intricate champion.

Lore:
Unlike other foxes that roamed the woods of southern Ionia, Ahri had always felt a strange connection to the magical world around her; a connection that was somehow incomplete. Deep inside, she felt the skin she had been born into was an ill fit for her and dreamt of one day becoming human. Her goal seemed forever out of reach, until she happened upon the wake of a human battle. It was a grisly scene, the land obscured by the forms of wounded and dying soldiers. She felt drawn to one: a robed man encircled by a waning field of magic whose life was quickly slipping away. She approached him and something deep inside of her triggered, reaching out to the man in a way she couldn't understand. His life essence poured into her, carried on invisible strands of magic. The sensation was intoxicating and overwhelming. As her reverie faded, she was delighted to discover that she had changed. Her sleek white fur had receded and her body was long and lithe, the shape of the humans who lay scattered about her.

However, though she appeared human, she knew that in truth the transformation was incomplete. A cunning creature, she adapted herself to the customs of human society and used her profound gift of beauty to attract unsuspecting men. She could consume their life essences when they were under the spell of her seductive charms. Feeding on their desires brought her closer to her dream, but as she took more lives, a strange sense of regret began to well within her. She had reservations about actions which never troubled her as a fox. She realized that she could not overcome the pangs of her evolving morality. In search of a solution, Ahri found the Institute of War, home of the most gifted mages on Runeterra. They offered her a chance to attain her humanity without further harm through service in the League of Legends.

Summoner Spells

Clarity(Recommended): Extremely vital first few laning phases, at least if you're being offensive enough. Also saves your *** when you run out of Mana during a chase.

Cleanse: Useful if you get hard CC'd while trying to escape or chase.

Exhaust: Good for early game chases, otherwise meh.

Flash: Useful situationally, but you'll usually only use your ult as its cooldown isn't too long.

Garrison: (See a Dominion Build)

Ghost(Recommended): Extremely useful in chases and in escaping, especially when ult is on cooldown.

Heal: You have enough spellvamp with this build.

Promote: No.

Revive: Come on now...

Teleport: Advisable if you are soloing (which you can do btw)

Starting Items -> Ending Items

I STRONGLY recommend you start out with a Mana potion or Sapphire Crystal or other mana increasing/restoring item for one reason: AHRI EATS MANA LIKE SHE EATS SOULS (a lot and really quickly...!!!). Once you've farmed enough or even picked up a kill or two finish your Catalyst of the Protector immediately, as it will help you stay in lane much longer. Now build into boots, then Rod of Ages, immediately to Sorcerer's Shoes.

Now, you must decide the next part situationally. If you are having to leave your lane often because you keep getting torn up by harasses, go Hextec Revolver into Will of the Ancients pronto. HOWEVER if you are tearin' **** up and your passive is enough to keep you above 75% hp, Rabadon's Deathcap will help you out even more. Whichever way you go buy both of these before progressing in the build.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter will help you secure your chases while boosting survivability even more!Once you've got these items your survivability is rediculously a whole lot (really good) and you can start cleaning pretty much anyone up. However a Lich Bane will aid substatially at picking up last hits on foes if all of your skills are on CoolDown.

Mejai's Soulstealer: I know, the name just makes it fit with Ahri PERFECTLY... but I ask you to refrain from buying these at all. Getting one of these, even if your 50/0/0 will bring your survivability to a crippling low. You COULD replace the Void Staff with this, but it would be too late game to make a difference.

Skills+Combo

Passive: Every nine successful spell hits, Ahri's ball glows green, making her next spellcast have a 35% spellvamp effect.

Q: Orb of Deception --> Fires off a skillshot boomerang that deals damage both ways, Magic damage going out, True damage on the way back. (Try to hit as many targets at once as you can when laning to maximize passive stacks and

W: Fox-Fire --> Summons 3 fire entites in a swarm around Ahri, which shoot off towards the nearest enemy unit dealing damage to them the first hit and 50% damage for succeeding hits.
(Use this for getting stacks on your passive when you need to heal)

E: Charm --> Fires off a skillshot nuke that deals magic damage and slows a target, also forcing them to stop attacking and follow Ahri for a few seconds.

R: Spirit Rush --> Ahri dashes in the direction of the cursor, sending out 3 tracking magic damage nukes that attack nearby enemy units (prioritizes champions). This ability can be used 3 times within 10 seconds before going on cooldown.

Lvl 1: Q (Orb of Deception) through enemies either at the end of its range or in the middle, to ensure both strikes hit

Lvl 2-3: E (Charm) when you have a clear shot then quickly Q (Orb of Deception) through them at any range

Lvl 4-5: E (Charm) on a clear shot then CAREFULLY walk nearer to foe and proc W (Fox Fire) while throwing a Q (Orb of Deception)

Lvl 6-18: Same as Lvl 4-5 Combo and only if they are REALLY low (below 200) R (Spirit Rush) into them 2 times, always try to leave the third dash to escape with.

WHEN BEING CHASED: E (Charm) them to slow them and WHILE STILL RUNNING W (Fox Fire) and Q (Orb of Deception) in their direction to deal lots of damage and heal a little bit. Continue this for as long as the chase ensues or until they get low and you can counter-chase with R (Spirit Rush).

FAQ

Q: Why don't I just go full AP? I already have a lifesteal passive that kicks *** WOOHOO!
A: You won't survive long enough to get your passive lifesteal stacks before you die in a chase.

Q: I keep on dying WTF BRO?!
A: If you're seriously having major survivability issues, replace Sorcerer's Shoes with Mercury's Treads and Void Staff with Zhonya's hourglass, that should help a lot.

Q: Do I really need the runes to survive?
A: No not really, but the edge they give you are to great to be ignored.

Q: I'm really just not doing enough damage, what should I do?
A: If you aren't dying a lot as well, I recommend ditching the Magic Resist runes and focusing AP and magic penetration runes.

Q: Yuck, too much survivability...
A: Without it, Ahri is the squishiest champion by far (excluding Lux of course) and you won't be able to survive chases without it.

Q: I can jungle too right? She has a spellvamp passive after all!
A: Sure, unless you don't want to go 0/20/0 because of passive mob executions. (No)

Q: Why is there no pics in this guide?
A: Working on it.

Q: This guide sucks!
A: That isn't correct, or even a question for that matter :)

Q: Why did you make this guide?
A: It brings tears to my eyes to see a bad Ahri.
