Akali has to be one of my favorite heroes to play, just because you can burst through anything and everything. Tanks stand no match to mark and flourish, and that coupled with shadow dance you can chase them through turrets and even get that last hit off before they run into their fountain.

-Some of the best burst damage in the game
-Amazing chaser
-Great passive that has synergy with many items that have been recently released

-Very squishy, especially early game
-Cooldown dependent

I like straight ap for the double passive at level 1. I havent tested any other rune builds out yet, i dont have the IP right now, ive been testing out champs, anyone have any suggestions let me know.


I have debated on these for a long time and tested both a standard offence, defense, and even a fully offensive build sticking the points into attack and ability power. In my opinion, Akali doesnt need more killing potential, ripping apart cho'gaths with 6k health is enough for me. I like going your standard defense and picking up the archmages savy, sorcery, and archaic knowledge. You could even go improved ignite so you dont have to go fully ap for your runes (I have not tested to see if you still get your passive from imp ignite).

Summoner Spells

Ignite- if your gonna run with imp ignite then grab it for sure, its nice to have when you just ran outta shadow dance stacks and they are barley getting away.

Flash- Amazing spell to juke, you dont need much more chasing capabilities, i mainly do this for defensive purposes. Throwing down shroud and flashing into a nearby bush or in the opposite way you were running is an awesome way to get away, not that you will need to much.

Heal- I have not tested it out but im assuming it isnt a bad choice, with a low health pool and being very squishy early game, i could see how it could save your life.

Ghost- i wouldnt recomend it but hey, if you want to use it go ahead, same use as flash but more of a sustained spell, not as much utility in it as flash but still pretty solid.

Exhaust- i know we all hate WW and Yi's spoiling the fun with lifesteal and such. Blind them and they will drop in one rotation. You can use it for running and chasing to.

Core Build
Early Game

You want to grab either top or bottom lane and start out with a long sword and a health pot. With this and runes you should have both your passives up and running at level 1, which is not a game breaker, but its nice to have. Basically you want to lane and farm up since you wont be deadly until you get your ult and revolver. For your first skill you will want to pick up mark so you can last hit minions, not so much the damage it does when it hits but the hit afterwards pretty much insures some gold. If you can try and pick up a kill or two on your way to level six, it will give you a giant boost to get gunblade. Usually if im doing really well ill pick up a sword of the occult after i grab revolver and boots. Stay in your lane as long as possible and use mark to heal up, the lifesteal isnt great now but it helps over time.

Mid Game

By now you should have you boots and gunblade or revolver and occult and are pretty much a killing machine. Participate in ganks and save up for Guinsoons, it will make you a tower killer and boost your sustained dps significantly. Keep ganking and stack up your occult so you can get that extra 15% movespeed, its deadly. By now your probably thinking you need a bit more health since they are probably focusing on you now. Thats why we grab scepter. With it you will gain some much needed health, more ap, and an amazing slow on all your abilities. So now not only does your shadow dance port you to your enemy but it slows them as well.


Usually if you did great the game is over, but after scepter there are a few things you can grab. I like going Lichbane since it almost triples your damage output and make you even more bursty. Trinity force is another option, i like Lichbane more but if the game is going to drag out grab triforce, it gives you a bit more health, some dodge movespeed and crit, chance to slow on melee, plus you still get that awesome hit after a spell so hey, its everything your going to need all rolled up into one compact item. I have even gone bloodthirster or black cleaver, which was pretty much just for the lolz, we were toying with the other team trying to get our full builds.
