Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello, My name is Wanhamies and this is my guide on Akali. I've been playing her for a while but not for a massive amount of time. When I first started playing with her I looked up a guide here in Mobafire, or a bunch of them. I never tought she was this good, and tbh I think she is a bit overpowered with her shroud and awesome mobility but easy to counter and cripple with visions on lane or an oracle. As many other champions she is kinda easy to play but hard to master.
Akali is an ok jungler, but I don't recommend you taking her to the woods :P since she is way better in lane. I will cover a jungling part for her too in this guide.
I play Akali as a hybrid/full ap high burst damage dealing assassin (who doesn't? :P)
+ // Easy to learn
+ // High damage output
+ // Amazing farmer
+ // Great sustain
+ // BEAST in teamfights and 1v1
+ // She's a mutha***in ninja
- // Hard to master
- // Oracles and wards make your life hard
- // squishy
- // pushes alot -> overextending
- // Really vulnerable to cc
- // if the enemy is smart, they will focus her
// I chose my masteries as 21/9/0 for the increase in damage and some health earlygame, and the attack damage from the offense tree to get my discipline of might along with my Greater Mark of Attack Damage runes.
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Ability Power
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power
I get attack damage marks to activate my passive. And who doesn't like more damage, since it helps you farm more.
Seals of resilience
Flat armor seals for some survivability earlygame since Akali is a fairly squishy champion.
Seals of fortitude
Flat hp seals are also a good choise for Akali since she doesn't have a massive hp pool, and were not going to buy any Doran items.
Glyphs of potency
For glyphs I chose flat ap runes to get a good earlygame damage boost for your Mark of the Assassin
Glyphs of warding
I pick greater glyphs of warding if I have to go mid versus an ap champ. Not a good choise on a duo lane.
Quintessences of potency
Flat ap Quintessences for a big boost in early game damage again to your Mark of the Assassin.
]Quintessences of vampirism
Only pick these Quintessences if your're going to jungle with Akali but jungle akali isn't the best choise but still a fun experience I will talk about jungle Akali later.
I chose Flash because its really easy to make unpredictable moves to your enemies under level 6 when you don't have your ulti. Its also a really good getaway tool when fleeing from enemies by flashing.
Ignite is good for any champ in the game and its good for securing kills with flash.
Teleport is a good option for Akali in solotop and mid and for saving turrets in general.
Exhaust is also a viable choise for Akali because of the slow but you should leave it to your teams tank.
Heal is a good choise for a beginner Akali but it's not as good as the ones I mentioned earlier.
Cleanse is a good choise also for Akali because she is vulnerable to crowdcontrol effects.
Ghost is really not an useful spell for Akali since she can cover massive amounts of distance with her ulti.
Just overall a bad summoner spell for Akali tbh for any champ :P
Just leave this to your teams support, you're better of without it
No, just don't. With this guide, youre not going to die to need this.
You should pick this for sure it makes the minions BIG. Seriously don't.
You don't need mana on Akali so no point in this.
Arsenal of skills
PASSIVE: Akali's passive, it's really awesome because its a double passive in my opinion. Discipline of might: Gives you 8% spell vamp for every bonus 10 attack damage you have. It helps your early game combined with your Hextech Revolver. Discipline of force: Upon obtaining 20 ability power Akali's auto- attacks deal 8% bonus magic damage and it increases by 1% for every 6 ap gained. So when you have 600 ability power you will have 100% more magic damage. So it is really awesome. Use it to last hit minions and harass champions.
Mark of the Assassin (Q): Mark of the Assassin is your main damage dealing ability along with your ulti. It works like this: first you toss it at your enemy, then you basic attack him and the mark will explode dealing damage along with your basic attack. Sweet isn't it?
Twilight shroud (W): Twilight shroud is useful in many different situations. You can slow someone down while chasing or fleeing, or you can just hide in it and juke your enemies. When it's leveled to 5 it will slow like a Singed on crack. You also gain armor and magic resist while you are inside of it!
Crescent slash (E): One of akali's damage dealing spells, it takes ratios from both ap and ad so you don't max it first because the damage isn't so great. It's good for farming tho, when you see a large pile of minions just go stand in the middle of them all and hit E and you will see some nice gold flowing in. I've also managed to grab a few double and triple kills with it. :P
Shadow dance (R): Shadow dance, Akali's ultimate. You can do many things with it also, its kinda like Twilight Shroud without the invisibility. It deals damage and makes you fly towards the target enemy, I will cover more of this skill later. You can have 3 stacks at a time and every time you use it on an enemy you lose one stack, if you kill or get an assist from an enemy champion you will get one stack on it. You get stacks overtime also so don't worry about them running out permanently :P.
I decided to max Mark of the Assassin first because it deals tons of damage and is a main part of your harass and combo. I've thought about putting some early points to Twilight Shroud but I don't think it's that useful since the duration stays the same, nonetheless an amazing skill. Like any other champ you cannot just jump onto your enemy and spam QWER. You need to think about what you do and how to combo. Many people do the mistake and just jump in and then mash their buttons. The next section will be devoted to your ulti and Q.
Because you max your damage dealing skills first (duh) you'll want to play as an aggressive Akali or that's how I play her. You have both a decent pool of health late game and AMAZING damage output and burst.
Fighting with Akali
Akali shines in team fights. She can be the initator but its not really recommended. You should allways go after you tank initiates and then go in and wreck. But if for some reason you don't have a tank or the tank is a mentally retarted person who can't initiate you can be the one who opens up the fight. But before you go in and initiate think of these.
- What crowd control effects do they have?
- Do the enemies have an oracles elixir?
- Is there a pesky Lee Sin making your shroud useless?
- Can you take some damage in the process?
Akali is a beast 1v1 champion. Most people don't know how to use her full arsenal of attacks and the ways of using them. I will tell you in this part about the uses of Mark of the Assassin and Shadow Dance. I will explain the simple and effective way to deal lots of damage.
1. Mark of the Assassin to your enemy.
2.Wait for it's cooldown to refresh.
3. Shadow Dance to your enemy
4.Hit the mark and throw another and detoante it
5. Crescent Slash and Shadow Dance
