If you are starved for gold and can't get the items for this build you are doing something wrong. After a gunblade/hextech and your Crescent Slash you should be farming like CRAZY

The most important thing to remember with this or any build is it's more about how you play the build than the actual build itself. I've gone with this build as it suits how I like to play her and gives me great survivability even if someone grabs elixir which if you are playing higher tier, someone will.

The reason for the ruins and mastries is rather simple. You can get your passive for damage and ability power very very early. As in beginning of the game. You don't necessarily have to go about getting your passives the way I have, however I would suggest that you activate both as quickly as you can. The best part is you can go with a Doran's blade. Because you're squishy and you need the health. Remember you are a ninja assassin. In the art of war one makes a weakness a strength.[/color]

Therefore those skilled in warfare move the enemy, and are not moved by the enemy.
Getting the enemy to approach on his own accord is a matter of showing him advantage;
stopping him from approaching is a matter of showing him harm.
Therefore, if the enemy is at ease, be able to exhaust him;
if the enemy is well fed, be able to starve him;
if the enemy is settled, be able to move him;
appear at places where he must rush to defend, and rush to places where he least expects.

HOW TO USE THIS BUILD:

You are a dine and dash kind of girl. In the early game you have to be patient and let them come to you. Use twlight to control your bushes, you can seamlessly go from one to the other and control a whole lane of creeps if timed right. This is all you should be doing unless the other team is being careless. Which is exactly what you want. After level 4 you should start harassing much more, slowly wearing down your enemies health. When you have your ult ready it's a simple matter of R, Q, auto attack, W. Exhaust and Ignite are very handy early. For one you have 10 ability power from ignite at the start. Do not use ignite unless you absolutely have to. It's not a tragedy if you use it however, especially on a kill. It's great to use early on a Vlad or Morde etc.

If you do not have a WW or a jungler on your team you should be jungling early, only after you find your teammate competent enough to solo a lane for a few minutes while you rape the jungle. Always use your team when you jungle. If someone else can do better with a buff give it to them. It's a team game. However if you find yourself owning early then grab everything in the jungle. After level 6 and some trips to the jungle you should be picking up multiple kills with ease.

A few tips on using this build.

Use your shroud in as many ways as possible. With you already high MR don't leave your shroud if you are being attacked. They'll try to attack you in shroud with aoe spells, however you get a nice MR buff. Shroud gives you a great defense buff you should always use to your advantage when put into certain situations. You can also use it to tower dive with ease. Shroud in front of turret and chop away at it. If you are attacked simply run away, just don't attack them if they are at full health. Another way to dive in is to simply ult, burst attack, shroud out. Keeping your shroud until the end allows you to escape on the possibility of a failed dive. You can also use your R to "flash" out by simply targeting an enemy creep. This is great to use while being chased. Go into bush, shadow dance behind enemy to creep. Shroud between you and enemy. At this point you can either destroy them or run away. If you are low in health it's a simply matter of farming creeps for a few seconds. Watch your health go up.

I will maybe add more to this later. This is in no way complete nor meant to be the authority on how to build or play Akali. This is my first at any sort of attempt at a build. Thank you for reading this and I'm sorry to have wasted your time :-D hahaha
