Akali's damage is from AP and from her Q. An AD build may get you some kills but it is far inferior to an AP build. Ap increases the damage of all of your abilities, and it massively increases the damage from your passive. Building Akali as AD might be fun to do sometime when you're bored but it will never compare to an Ap build, you will never see a high elo Akali using an AD build in a ranked match.

I have a suggestion. I like your build, but I think you could tweak it a little bit to help yourself. I suggest your remove Infinity Edge and The Bloodthirster, and put in something like a Rylai's Crystal Scepter and a Zhonya's Ring.

This does a couple of different things.
1. You keep the attack speed
2. It pumps up your AP (Most of your abilities are more AP based than AD so it should help you out a bit.)
3. You get extra health.
4. You get a slow in your build. (no more summoners annoying getting away with 20 health)

I looked at doing this, but with the recent changes I'm sticking with AD over AP. Thanks for the thoughts though.

I've used Akali in the past as AP as well and gave up on her. This was a nice way to look at it that I didn't try then and it worked well the first time out.

good build +1 from me!

Thanks! As you can see I'm making edits to the build as I play it more so keep an eye on it or let me know if you try anything different in it that you like. I want to keep this progressive until I get it perfect.
