The Trinity Force is an expensive item, I realize. However, it is also an incredibly powerful item. Since in most games you won't reach the Rabadon's Deathcap without the game ending the proc from Trinity Force is more powerful than the proc from Lich Bane. I also find that, since Akali's AP scaling is not fantastic by any means, her highest scale being 50% of her ability power being added to her ult, the primary purpose of getting AP is to increase the %magic damage she deals with each auto attack. So, by having higher attack damage she gets more damage from every %magic damage. Also, having the AS from Trinity Force allows her to use both her attack damage, and the extra magic damage more often, meaning she ends up getting more from less AP.
On the subject of Guinsoo's Rageblade, we are also at odds. Guinsoo's increases both her AS and AP, again meaning more auto attacks, and more instances of getting her %magic damage off. The stacking AP grants her increased magic damage on attacks, and increased ability damage. While this is by no means the best item for a 1v1, in a team fight you should have 8 stacks by the time the first enemy dies, and there are still 4 more enemies through which your 8 stacks are maintained and helping to increase your damage output.
On The Bloodthirster, while I completely agree that it is possible to get a Guardian Angel, Banshee's Veil or other defensive item here (And I have on several occasions, particularly the Banshee's Veil when there's, for example, a Karthus on the other team), a Bloodthirster on Akali in a way acts as a defensive item. Fully charged, a Bloodthirster will grant 25% lifesteal and 20% spell vamp, added to the previously gained health-back effects in the build, this is an incredible amount of health back, so that as long as you are dealing damage, you're getting huge amounts of life back.
