Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
The last 2 items, nashors tooth and banshee veil are optional, and may be taken in any order or swapped out with any other item deemed to enhance akali's combat effectiveness or defenses and is entirely up to the player to choose. The first 4 items are akali's core items, however some may take a void staff for a 5th item if the enemy team is stacking magic resistance. Some choose to take a lichbane with akali for more burst damage, although this is not really necessary, as you will most of the time NOT be trying to take down tanks, but destryoing squishy DPS. Akali's role as an assasin is to hit the enemy backline as her team initiates a fight, to take out the ranged ad carries or nukers waiting to deal death to her team.
Laning phase, take mark of the assasin first for harassment, and i always choose to start with boots+1, because akali is a ninja, and being able to get in and harass with your mark is crucial to keeping the enemy at low health until you get your ultimate, boots+1 also helps with juking enemies with skills shots, such as an ever annoying bush humping mundo that just likes to sit in the bush and spam cleaver to annoy you. Mark is also good for getting last hits on low helath minions if youre laning with another melee and you have 2 ranged in your lane that are being very aggressive (be patient, their overextending and aggressiveness will play right into your hands once you hit level 6).
Ganking phase, A.K.A mid game. You should have your rylia's by now if you've been successful at farming and hitting the neutral monsters every time they respawn, and its now time to hit the jungle and start setting up ganks. Your Rylia's slow effect will help greatly as you will be able to keep your enemy slowed constantly and kill them before they get back to their turret, unless they happen to have flash. In this case you need to hit the TAB button, and look at summonjer spells, if you failed to do so at the loadup screen. Now you pick your prey and go for the kill.
Standard akali combo is shadow dance>mark>auto attack>crecent slash>shadow dance>mark>auto attack (if your enemy is at a distance and you need to close to catch them).
Secondary combo (if the enemy is melee and you are able to get relatively close without having to use shadow dance to close the gap) mark>auto attack>crescent slash>shadow dance>mark>auto attack (usually if theyre squishy melee dps theyre dead by the time you hit them with the second mark followed by auto attack).
Akali is a master at escaping bad fights/teamfights, always try to smokebomb near bushes or close enough to them, as akali has 2 seconds of invisibility after she leaves smokebomb, which really makes it hard for the enemy to track you down unless they have your side of the jungle warded, which occasionally your enemy team will ward your lizard and golem buff so they can catch you with your pants down for a easy gank. This can easily be countered with an oracles elixer.
This may look like a tanky build, but trust me, you will still be a killer and still be able to dish out a ton of damage, but you will also be able to survive a teamfight (unless they have a stun and or oracles and focus you down inside your smokebomb).
