Honestly Akali should never build Thornmail - I've been thinking about re-vamping my guide and removing the items that I wouldn't suggest on her. THe problem I think you have is you're either getting caught a lot, or you letting them target you. Stay in the back a pick off the squishies - let the others concentrate on the bruisers. Or just have all of your team target him at once. What you could build though is a Chain Vest early when you start to notice he's getting fed - and later just build it into a Guardian Angel. What can help though is if one of your tanks has a Frozen Heart. Nope, it means you can't stack the same items in a row - ie. 2 Hextech Gunblades will only give you unique stats of one Hextech Gunblade. The main thing you have to do is dragon control, ward mid jungle and dragon.
