Roles
Can play all lanes

Summary: Akali is a ninja champion that uses energy. The maximum energy is 200 and regenerates 5 energy per second. All of Akali's damage is on hit spells and items. Health is fairly weak until you buy rylai's crystal scepter. You will own if you get all your stacks on occult and mejai's soulstealer. If you don't do well with getting stacks your gameplay will do bad. Magic resistance is Akali's mortal enemy.

Runes:
Marks Magic penetration to do more damage. Makes magic resistance less of a reduction in your damage.
Seals Cooldown reductions to make your spells able to be used more.
Glyphs Magic penetration to do more damage. Makes magic resistance less of a reduction in your damage.
Quintencessences Ability power for more damage early game. Makes it more of a chance you will kill a weak champion. (AKA 1st Blood)

Spells
Flash: Great for escaping / juking / Catching up to enemies
Ignite: More Damage / reduces healing / Kills escapees early game or late game

Other possible spells
Ghost: Increases speed to escape or catch enemies / Return to lane

Reasons for items:
Amplifying tome: Its the build up for sheen because you don't need mana.
Health Potion: Do I really need to explain. Okay, You are a ninja you don't use mana.
Lichbane: Fuses your ability power to on hit magic damage to work with your mark.
Mejai's : When all goes well more stacks means more ability power for cheap
Socerer's boots: Works well for magic penetration and gives you movement speed
Occult: Getting these stacks will help you with spell vamp and more damage!
Ryai's Crystal Scepter: Helps survivability during late game and more ability power
Zhonya's ring: More ability and 25% more ability power!

Strategies:

Playing as mid

Early Game: When vsing an opponent with high hp it is best to play safe and harass when you can. However, when versing an oppnonent that is weak feel free to hit and run as much as possible. Try not to get stunned, immobilized, slowed, dotted.
By level 6 you should kill the enemy champion if he is weak. If not you can gank side lanes.

Mid-Game You should have a mejai's soulstealer by now and lichbane.
Gank as much as possible. Always keep an eye out for weak champions staying in lanes.
***BUT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE NO BOOTS YET SO YOU RELY ON YOUR ULT TO KEEP WITHIN RANGE***

Late-Game By this time you should have your occult and have some stacks on mejai's soulstealer. Continue to gank and push after each gank/group fight. IF you encounter group fights focus their nukes and weaklings down 1st. Run from the battle if you are too weak to continue. Use your shroud and flash to get away. If needed use your ult on enemy minions or neutral minions to get a head start on distance.

End-Game By this time you should have all your items and a good amount of stacks left on your occult and mejai's soulstealer. Continue to progress into enemy inhibitor towers. Their team should quit because of how well fed you are. If you see any enemy with stackable items like leviathan / Mejai / occult it is best to keep them down to 0 stacks if not just make them rage sell the item. Remember that you aren't invincible and tower diving most likely leads to your death.


Playing as a side

Early Game: It is best to choose you partner wisely. A good champion to group with is a champion that has high survivability and controls the lane well. Work with your partner to land your hits with mark of the ***sasin. Make sure your teamate isn't bad. Try to gank if you can, if not just play defensive.

Mid game: Gank with your teamate when you have acquired mejai's soulstealer. Watchout for ganks on your lane. Junglers are a big problem. If mid has a weak enemy champion feel welcome to intervene at level 6.

Late game: At this point you should be constantly ganking and pushing lanes. Make sure not to fall behind in levels. Dont get ganked and keep your stacks high. Play decisively and cautiously. Never underestimate your foes.

End game You should be wrapping this game up in the palm of your hands.
Continously just gank and push towers.
