Introduction

Hello everybody. This is my second build. Please dont just rate it, try it and you will see, it works fine. If you are a noob, dont rate my build because you lost. The build works fine if the player plays not stupid.

I play amumu junglestyle with early gank and then as maintank. Most jungler i see in the publics are just jungling like idiots and start ganking at lvl 6 or later. This is not the way it works. The problem is, if you wait too long and top lane plays 1v2, you will lose a tower soon if they can push.

I also put in my build for playing amumu without jungle. If you have a Warwick or any other good jungler in your team, let them do it. You can also lane very well with amumu. I always prefere to go bot lane with a mate and let the sololane to my carries.

Pros / Cons

Pros:

- 2x CC
- awesome jungler
- awesome ganker
- good farmer

Cons

- Mana dependant. If you have no mana, you can't do anything.
- Very teamdependant. You need ganks. If your team feeds and you cant gank, you will lose.

Runes

As tank, you need much HP, Armor and Magic Resistance. Therefore i selected these runes because they help you early while jungling because of the high HP and also they are great for your survivability for early ganks.

9 x Greater Mark of Armor - + ~9 Armor is a great thing early. With your starting Cloth Armor you got +27 Armor and for early game this is huge!

9 x Greater Seal of Health - + 48 HP. Nothing to say. Better for your survivability.

9 x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist - + 13 Magic Resistance is great for early ganks and also for lategame its great for your tankingwork.

3 x Greater Quintessence of Health - 78 HP. With your 9 Greater Seal of Health you will get +126 HP and this is quite usefull early. In combination with your high armor early they will need a lot of dmg to kill you.

Summoner Spells

Flash - Great for escaping over walls if you get ganked in the jungle. It also helps you to gang. Flash near your enemy to kill, Bandage Toss him -> kill. If needed use Curse of the Sad Mummy.

Jungle Style

Smite - Due to you will start in the jungle, this spell will help you farming and also it is great for lasthitting Baron Nashor or Dragon. Thanks to Plentiful Bounty you will get +5 gold every time you use it. Don't forget to put one point in it.

Lane Style

Fortify - If not jungling, i really prefere to use Fortify. Amumu has a really low attack damage. Due to Reinforce you will get some more damage against creeps, if its not on cooldown. This is good for lasthiting. it also helps you for defending any towers or if any of the enemies tries to dive tower, stun him with your Bandage Toss and activate Fortify for a kill.

Items

Boots

I think for the boots it's always the same discussion. I think the ones which come into question are Mercury's Treads or Boot's of Swiftness. There is one simple rule:
Do they have much CC? If yes pick Mercury's Treads. If you want to chase down any enemies with Despair and Tantrum you can pick Boot's of Swiftness.

Jungle Style

Start with Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potions and head directly to the blue buff golem. Tell your mates on the top and mid lane they have to cover you at the start so you cannot get ganked by the enemy team. Try to get Heart of Gold and Boots as fast as possible because of the +5 gold every 10 seconds. This helps you farming. The best thing is if you can get them while your first return. Picking some more Health Potions is never false.

Lane Style

While laning start off with a Sapphire Crystal and 2 Health Potions. Head bottom lane with another mate. Play defensive, lasthit creeps or kill them with Tantrum. Save your mana for the case that your jungler will gang. You will need mana for Bandage Toss, Tantrum and Despair so never go oom. Try to farm as much as possible. Targed is to get Boots and Catalyst the Protector on your first returning back to the base.

Core Build

The core build is everytime the same. Doesn't matter if jungle or lane style, first finish your Mercury's Treads and then head for a Sunfire Aegis and a Banshee's Veil. With Randuit's omen your core build is complete. The following two Items

Optionals for Lategame

Frozen Heart - If they have much physical this is the solution. AS Reduction for your enemies carries and also CDR for your ulti. Great item.

Force of Nature - This one you can get if they have any hard nukers like Kassadin, Veigar and so on. It also gives you a nice bonus of liferegen. Great to counter their casters.

Guardian Angel - If they have much physical and magical damage i prefere to head for a Guardian Angel. It gives you armor, MR and also the awesome revive passive.

Warmog's Armor - Also cool to push your HP. But beware. HP is only usefull if you have enougth Armor/MR. Maybe get this item as last one. But most games end before this.

Jungling

I always start at blue (1). As said, tell your mates from mid/top to cover you to prevent any early ganks. If possible, your ranged mate from the mid may pull the golem. So you dont lose too much hp. After blue head to the wolves (2) and clean them. Head to the wrath's camp (3) and also kill them. now you should have level 3, your smite should be ready again. So you are ready for the lizard camp (4). Head to the golems (5), clean them off aswell and now it's time for the first gank. Tell your mate(s) on the top/bot lane to fall back. If your gank will not fail and your team gets firstblood, head to the wrath's camp (3) and then wolves (4). Now you should have enought gold for your Heart of Gold, Boots and some Health Potions.
Jungle more and try to gank as much as possible.

Important: If your mates in mid or top need to go b, or if they die, head as fast as possible to their lane so your enemy cant push the tower and that you also get the XP for this lane as long your mate is in the base.

Earlygame

Try to jungle/lane and farm as much as you can. Amumu is a tank and a ganker. So if you have the possibility, try to gank mid or the sidelanes when you're in the jungle. Try to farm as much as possible to get your Catalyst the Protector as fast as possible. It prevents you almost endless laning/jungling.

Midgame

It's time to gang. Act much with your allies and try to catch up the enemy's jungler or lanes. Try to get the dragon as much as possible. You are the one who roams most time now, so also try to get some wards and put them to the dragon or important spots to prevent the enemies ganks. Your a tank and also an initiator. So feel free to wait for the best time Flash in and catch them with your Curse of the Sad Mummy. A perfect landed ulti is a half won battle.

Lategame

Just move as team and kick towers. Now you have good items to counter their carries/caster and you are ready for big fights. If your team doesn't suck and feed, you will win the game easy.
After a good teamfight try to get baron nashor for the final push.

Summary

Amumu is imho one of the best tanks in the game. It works so nice with any other AOE skills like Nunu & Willump's Absolute Zero, Morgana's Soul Shackles and so on. Try to land your Curse of the Sad Mummy on as much enemies as possible. You have also a nice damageoutput with your Despair and Tantrum. Try to catch up any escaping enemies with your Bandage Toss to kill them off.

Amumu is a teamplayer. Without a good team you can play as godlike as you want, you won't win.
