Ok first of all, you've gotta except the fact your the tank and not the carry :(
If you want to be the carry, stop reading right now, and go check out "Twitch: The Almighty Rat" and than you can be the carry.
So pretty much this build is just a basic throwdown of what Amumu does, is, and how he does it.
Amumu is an extremly overlooked champion, the reason being, the first games you play with him, your most likely gonna HATE, and probobly going to do really bad.
+ Amazing survivbility
+ Great at saving teamates
+ Decent farming (With Tantrum/Despair)
+ Two stuns
+ TONS of armor
+ Turrets deal out barely any damage to him
+ When built right, close to impossible to kill (I've survived 4v1's)
+ Decent passive (Lowers magic resist)
+ He's a crying mummy (Intimidates the enemy)
- Can be easily harrased
- OK speed, can be chased down easily
- Item dependent
- Need to be good at skill shot (Bandage Toss)
Amumu's attacks reduce the target's magic resistance by 20/30/40 for 5 seconds.
Throws a bandage to target location. If it hits an enemy unit, Amumu will pull himself to the enemy, stun them, and deal 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (+100% of ability power) magic damage.
Cooldown 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds | Cost 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 mana | Range 25000
This move is great.... if your good with the skill shot.
I highly reccomend playing a few practise games, just to get used to the skill shot.
Also, this move, if used correctly can be a highly effective through the wall getaway.
Toggle: Nearby enemies take 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / 24 magic damage plus 1.5 / 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 (+1% of ability power)% of their maximum health each second.
Cooldown 1 seconds | Cost 10 mana per second | Range 300
Despair is a great move against other tanks, and also very effective against the dragon or Baron.
Always stop the toggle!! (This gets very frustrating, as it eats up LOTS of mana)
Passive: Amumu takes 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 reduced damage from physical attacks.
Active: Amumu deals 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 (+50% of ability power) magic damage to surrounding units. Each time Amumu is hit, the cooldown on Tantrum is reduced by 0.5 seconds.
Cooldown 21 / 18 / 15 / 12 / 9 seconds | Cost 50 mana | Range 400
Tantrum is Amumu's go to move, level this up as soon as you can.
Also with Tantrum, try to learn how to last hit multiple minions at once.
Curse of the Sad Mummy
Amumu entangles surrounding enemy units, causing them to be unable to attack or move for 2.5 seconds, dealing 50 / 100 / 150 (+35% of ability power) magic damage to them each second.Cooldown 170 / 150 / 130 seconds | Cost 100 / 150 / 200 mana | Range 600
This is his ult, and it is godly. A great move for team fights, and also if used correctly can be an amazing getaway.
Learn to use Flash when using your this, just Flash into the middle of a team fight, and pop your ult.
It sounds really easy, but trust me, its gonna be hard to get used to.

These are just suggestions for what you might build Amummu with.
The build you use is really dependent on whose on the other team.
lets just say im playing againt a Ryze/Trynd/Kat team, i would probobly first build up a Sunfire for the health/damage, a Thornmail for health/anti-trynd (sometimes Kat too),
and a Spirit Visage for the magic resist. And than just take it from there.
Amumu is a mid/late game champ, so dont expect to be "the fo-shizzle" early game.
Try to get as many last hits as you can with Tantrum, to farm minions really fast, Tantrum, than let the minions hit you (so your cooldown gets reduced) than Tanrum again, etc..... To go for ganks, hide behind the wall, and than Bandage Toss through the wall, pop Despair, Tantrum, repeat.
Now is when you finally start to do something :)
Keep farming as much as you can, but also jungle with Despair.
You should be able to solo dragon at about lvl 9.
Its really important to keep jungling mid game.
Something that took me awhile to get used to is that, your EXTREMLY beefy.
So if someone like Ryze is hugging turret with half health, TURRET DIVE HIM, unless someone else is there with him, you shouldnt die.
Also, use your flash/ult combo to start team fights, this is your main job, stunning/slowing people so that your team can eat his face.
Pretty much the same as mid game, just stun, stun, stun.... you get the point :P
The one main thing different now than mid game is that you HAVE to be at EVERY team fight.
And also, dont let the other team no where you are (NINJA MUMMY:) try to stay out of the lanes, because you can just Bandage Toss right through the wall and destroy them.
Remeber, you have the advantage if they cant see you, but you can see them.
And if a team fight does go bad, you can always Bandage Toss through the wall to Golem buff or something like that.
