Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my jungle amumu gide. I will be going over several important facts and tips about amumu during this guide, and it would be best if you read the guide while also viewing the build. THis guide will not only explain how to rape face with Amumu, but it will also describe your jungling route with areas where you could possibly gank

Abbreviated Terms
AA = Auto-attack (Basic Attacks)
AD = Attack Damage
AP = Ability Power
AS = Attack Speed
AoE = Area of Effect
CC = Crowd Control (Stun, fear, slow, snare, etc)
CDR = Cooldown Reduction
DoT = Damage over Time
ELO = Elo rating (Rating system designed by Arpad Elo that is now used in gaming communities worldwide)
FB = First Blood
HP = Health
LS = Life Steal
MD = Magic Damage
MP = Mana
MR = Magic Resistance
MS = Movement Speed
OOM = Out of Mana
SV = Spell Vamp
DPS = Damage Per Second; also: Strong Auto-attacker
MDPS = Magical Damage Per Second; also:Strong spells; casters
MP5 = Mana Regeneration per 5 seconds
HP5 = Health Regeneration per 5 seconds
ArPen = Armor Penetration
MPen = Magic Penetration

Every team needs a tank. There's no arguing otherwise. This is the massive son of a ***** saying "HELL NO" when you ask nicely if you can nuke down that Ashe on their team. The ideal tank needs a way to stop enemies from attacking his carries and needs to be bulky as hell to do it.

When you play a tank, you need to be reliable as a meatshield, soaking up damage so your carries can continue to do their thing. A Miss Fortune with 800 DPS can't do **** if she's dead.

Tanks most commonly seen are:
- Shen
- Rammus
- Amumu
- Cho'Gath
- Malphite

Some less common but still viable picks are:
- Galio
- Singed
- Alistar
- Mordekaiser (people are going to hate me for this)
- Gragas
- Nasus
- Sion (if building AD/tank)
- Blitzcrank (rarely)

Yes, yes, I know that some of these champions aren't the best tanks. I know that some of these champions are often built differently. The point is, if you can learn to play a champion from the above list well as a tank, you can be there for your team when they need a tank in champion select.

Runes

We pick these runes mainly because they specialize in defensive skills that all tanks need, we take armor and magic resist runes because you are going to be faced up against people that will be doing damage to you from either magic or physical ( herp derp ). The armor also helps a lot with your jungling routes because you will take less damage from the creeps.

Masteries

The reason we take only 16 in Defensive is because it gives you maximum health, along with the 13 points in utility that give us that extra jungle buff time, increases our experience gain, and decreases our flash cooldown by 15 seconds. If you feel like you want to remove the point in Offensive it is possible, you can just put it in utility or defensive.

An alternative to this mastery setup is to just go 0/21/9 also taking the extra buff duration, the downside of this though is that you will get 15% less buff duration and 15 seconds added to your flash cooldown. I would really suggest that you go with the masteries that I have provided, because they are the best masteries for a jungle Amumu.

Items

Why get Cloth armor and health pots?
Because you're in the jungle! If you just stay with your regular items you will be screwed, I mean, you could jungle with a doran shield, I just wouldn't recommenced it because it will severely increase your jungle route time, and the key point of jungling is SPEED!

Why get Heart of Goldx4?
It basically makes you tank at that level, you will change the heart of golds later on, but this will be fairly early game 6~9 and you will get a lot of extra gold from them. I calculated the average time it takes me to get my heart of golds and when I start with one, If you get successful ganks, and at that level, get dragon, you end up with having all your heart of golds for about 10~20 minutes. Now if we put that into gold terms, it equals up to an average of 1800 gold, FREE!

Optional items:
The rest of the build is really optional, well, i mean situational. If you are going up against a full AP team I really wouldn't suggest that you stack thornmails, It all really depends on who you are going up against.

Skill Sequence

Your basic skill sequence for ganking:
Bandage toss, Activate despair, Tantrum, and Curse of the sad mummy.

In this time the enemy should be dead if you didn't miss your bandage toss/Curse of the sad mummy

Your basic skill sequence for Teamfights:
This is a tough one, you really want to spam all your moves as much as possible, but you want to bandage toss their CARRY, the reason behind bandaging their carry is because you will make him useless for 1.5 seconds. It is entirely your call on when to use your ult, you usually want to use it when you have a lot of enemy champions in the radius. Your ultimate can be used either offensively or defensively which makes it a very versatile skill.

Summoner Spells

Why get smite?
You're a jungler, nuff' said.

Why get flash?
Flash has to be one of the best summoner spells there is out there, it has many advantages to it that can get you out of sticky situations, or get your ult in that perfect position. You really want to use flash conservativly because it has a very long cooldown, some other alternatives for flash could be Fortify, Cleanse, and Ghost. I really don't see the reason behind the other summoner spells, because you are a tank, you don't need heal.

Pros / Cons

PROS:
-Easy to play
-Amazing ult
-Very good early/late game
-Tank killing move "Despair"
-Very good jungler

CONS:
-Uhh, can't do much damage to turrets ? :o
-NO TAUNT, CMON RIOT :(

Really there is no bad things to amumu he is pretty tanky, and has a decent early game, but I really can't think of anything that would affect amumu so much that he would be rendered useless. Unless of course you are playing a ranked game, got all your runes ready and masteries ready, and suddenly BAM amumu is banned, sucks right?

Team Work

Your main teamwork goal is to save your team from getting damaged, and to render their carry useless. By doing this you will be winning lots of games, and becoming very happy. You will farm IP extremely easily and you will have no problem with runes anymore, you will be able to buy any rune in the game, because you will be hauling *** really hard. Another thing about teamwork for this build is that you hopefully want to change some of the items to give aura's such as Abyssal Mask This will make your team really tanky, and reduce the enemies magic resist. If you decide to get aura items they tend to be a downfall from the regular items that don't give aura's but you will see a huge difference in your teammates deaths.

Unique Skills

One of your main unique skills is your ultimate, the reason behind this is because no one in the game has a AoE snare that lasts for so long, and actually does decent damage. You have to be careful with this ult though because it has an extremley long coooldown and it would be a shame if you used it on a gank on one person, and there was a teamfight a minute after and it was still on cooldown. I happen to do this a lot so don't take my advice on using your ultimate on one person, unless they are above 10/0 or on a 10 killing spree.
Really there are some items that will compliment amumu and also make him tanky, such as a Abyssal Mask . This item will compliment you by giving Ability power, along with some magic resist, and your passive will also go extremely well with the reduced magic resist to surrounding enemies that it gives.

Farming

Easy work,
Get blue buff,
Press W for ultimate farm,
Spam E as fast as you can,
????,
Profit

Really there is no downfall to amuumu farming other than you run out of mana very easily if you don't have blue buff. Honestly if you're tanky enough you can really do anything with farming, you could even try to possibly solo baron, even though i wouldn't suggest it :p But as i said earlier, farming with amumu is very faceroll and it is VERY easy.

Ranked Play

When playing ranked as amumu, which is close to never since he always gets banned, you must remember that everytime you go back you should be buying AT LEAST one ward. The reason is that wards are crucial in ranked games. Always remember to be more careful as amumu in ranked games because you have your ELO at risk here, and one bad initiation could result in disaster, and putting you in ELO hell.
