For a couple reasons:

Anivia has a lot of viable options for runes, and you only list one of the sets. Clarity isn't viable period. You should remove the Introduction banner, and just leave the Guide Banner. If you consider my suggestions I may reconsider my vote.

The two above is clearly very unskilled anivia players. To answer the first one (I'm not author but i can tell you this), why do you need to downvote because she hasn't listen another pair of runes, because of one single spell everyone deems unviable, which some newbies actually find helpful on Anivia? And a banner.. Ohh my.. Downvote due to a banner? To the other guy, the new DFG can easily hit for 50% current HP in the late game, tho i also disagree abit, as you aon't get "that" close. ANd about mana, there's a reason that junglers give you blue, and a reason that you build Athene's Unholy Grail.

To you, dear author, i say, people has their votes, their opinion. In my opinion, you did a great work, explained Anivia in depth, so from me, a +1 :)

As a friend of the author although always giving constructive criticism I'll try to counter some arguments:

1st: Archangel staff YES it gives a Ton of mana but in order to stack that baby you need to use your skills and in anivias case her skills are on a fairly lenghty cooldown. that's why the better item is Athene's unholy grail for mana regen ap cdr and a massive mana return with kills and assists.

2nd: Clarity, although people might call you noob for taking it, if you're new to anivia its a perfectly viable choice although in end game it becomes pretty much useless (hell it becomes useless after chalice of harmony) You know what isn't viable? **** as revive smite rally that kind of ****.

3rd: downvoting because of a banner? You obviously A: didn't read the guide or B: are a troll get off the internet or you might harm yourself.
And finally 4: its a GUIDE , its not carved in stone. This person has has put alot of effort in this guide so before you downvote: Read the damn thing and read why he has made these choices because a good guide like this one WILL explain his thought process behind his decisions (™ by phreak)

If you get a Deathfire Grasp you should get a Kage's Lucky Pick earlier.

I don't think Anivia needs mana regen in any way - I play her without Chalice, mana regen runes and mana regen masteries. I do appreciate blue buffs ;)

I find that I have trouble with her movement speed. How do you think about this?

Brute Force > Mental Force . Period, no discussion.

Masteries in Cheat Sheet are not the same as those explained in the guide.

I miss a match up section, but other than that the guide is very in depth.

My ratings:

Appearance: 8/10
Cheat Sheet: 7/10
Contents: 8/10

An overall 7,7, my upvote is yours ;)

1. I did mention a few alternatives.
2. Clarity is good for everyone that has not got any runes or when you cannot save your mana well. Obviously these are only when you are such low level, and I did mention that. You would never, and by never I mean NEVER, NEVER-EVER even consider using it myself
3. I feel your point in this. I'll definitely consider this one.

Look, you are building an Athene's Unholy Grail in ~80% of the games you play, that regens so much mana that buying even more mana is somewhat overkill. (12 on each kill or assist, allowing you to regen ~250 mana, and a (possibly) total of 1250 over a teamfight)
Also, the RoA passive gives +500 or 600 (out of the top of my head) mana. That is generally the amount you can get mid-game with the tear of the goddess.

Now on to both of you, while I do not find your arguments behind the downvotes very valid, I have taken both into good consideration and appreciate the fact that you in any case took the time to read the guide and leave a comment.

Generally you do not get in the stage of buying this item (its my final item) and it is still situational (final items always are, or at least in my guides ;-)). Thus I do not find it worth anticipating for this. It will slow down your rod of ages even more.

While I do agree with this (it is not really mandatory to buy mana regen), it is too risky to let yourself depend on blue buff (if your team is pushed back to your inhibitor turrets, you can hardly get any blue). Also, since blue buff was nerfed (a fairly long time ago though), I do still find some need for it.

I find that starting with boots generally solves this problem. I have considered movement speed quints, but I find these too weak to make any difference. While onto masteries, I do not really know what the best are. Both differences are too marginal to judge that easily.

Masteries in Cheat Sheet are not the same as those explained in the guide.

I could argue about that since anivia is capable of 1:1 ratio's on most of her skills. Besides that, I made an edit I did not yet correct. I'll do this tomorrow. ;-)
Damn work with banners x)

Yup, I just started working on it as soon as I came back from holiday :) I also mentioned in my introduction, it is soon to follow.

You should, however. It can help you escape ganks, open up on kills, or secure kills.
